  1. Hello guys I have a MSI x99s SLI Krait Edition motherboard and want to know how some people have command center I know how to get in the bios but I saw some youtube videos of people using the application on the desktop the reason I want this is because the two fans on my rig always go at the same speed I think... so I want to control them and no there not connected directly to the powersupply there on the motherboard thanks for the help!

You will need to download it. I own an MSI mobo myself but it seems to not work

  2. I was considering Haswell, but that problem was that it was around $70 cheaper and meant that if I went with it she wouldn't be able to get an SSD and another GPU later on because of PCI-E lanes. Having said, I plan on getting her an SSD but she's 14 and wouldn't keep it clean and managed at all.

Maybe you. Could get a sshd
  3.

My sister has been talking lots about getting into PC gaming, and I figured as a present I would put together a system for her. She seems very fixated on nice looking components, so I want this entire system to look somewhat premium.

    1. Budget & Location

The budget is roughly around $1400 Australian, I'd go up to $1450 however if it was well worth it enough.

    2. Aim

Playing AAA games, and other competetive games. She'd also be using this for school work.

    3. Monitors

I have opted to get something small and 1080P as the amount of room she has in the bedroom is mostly occupied by chested drawers, a bed and other crap. The desk I have selected is quite small.

    4. Peripherals

She already has a set of Logitech wireless peripherals.

If you guys could sanity check this list, it'd be great. Cheers lads.

Great system but I would get a cheaper CPU+Mobo to get an SSD + better PSU. Also ditch the cooler for something cheaper. If you want I can piece together a list, im aussie too

  4. "Resolution: Up to 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA Display) and 1080p @ 60Hz (Full HD Video)"

Right on the specification page. This cable is clearly not what you need.

What is wrong with your current HDMI cable that came with the monitor? You say you've been using it until now, why change it?

Technically, HDMI 1.4 support 4k, so surely it would support ultrawide resolution, no?

    https://youtu.be/f38sotYHqtA?t=2m36s

    Nope

  5. Today, I received two displayport to hdmi cables that I had purchased recently. I have an LG 25UM56 Ultrawide monitor that came with its own hdmi cable that I have been using til now. When I plugged in the dp to hdmi cable (the monitor only supports hdmi in), I am getting a max resolution of 1920x1080, when my monitor is 2560x1080. Going into display settings, windows is showing my recommended resolution as 1920x1080 and will not adjust higher. I am thinking I will just return the cables, but I want to know if it is something that can be fixed or if it is indeed the cables. Here they are for reference: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812816171 . I am still a bit new to all of this so if you guys have any recommendations for me, that would be awesome.

im pretty sure HDMI doesnt support ultrawirde until 2.0

  6. I am concerned that my graphics card (Gigabyte GTX 980ti) will not fit in the top PCIe port in my motherboard (MSI X99A GODlike Gaming similar to Gaming 9).  If this turns out the be the case, what are my options for using both pieces of hardware together?  Can I utilize another port without sacrificing bandwidth?  Can I use some sort of extension and mount the GPU in another location?  Any support would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

You will be able to use another slot. Preferably use the second PCIe 16x slot(this is where your second GPU would go if you were running sli

  7. I am totally oblivious to coding and game development. I know the basics like how textures work, etc stuff that most gamers know... That said I have a question. I just got Metal Gear Solid 5, its a fantastic game but I was a bit disappointed because I recently got a new 144hz gsync screen and the frames are locked at 60. First world problems right.

Every so often a series or game comes over from console and this seems a trend, MGS 5 has locked frames, Dark souls 1 had locked frames, 2 is locked at 60 I believe. And every time when I search to see if you can unlock frames I am met with the same reasoning... the game developers tie the physics to the frames/frame rate. Which seems odd but after playing Dark souls 1 and uncapping the frames with a mod weird stuff starts to happen, you can no longer jump as far and can fall through the world in some spots etc.

So why do they do that? From my perspective even before I had the screen it seems limiting especially for the PC platform (I realise some of these games came to PC as an after thought but DS 2 and MGS were going to come to PC from the start). I am guessing its to do with ease and time restraints, consoles games are developed to run at a certain frame rate and so tying the physics to frame rate seems like a consistent way to do it. Just wondering if someone in the know can explain it too me.

Not sure if this is the right place but I decided to post general is it didn't seem to fit into the PC gaming section.

Maybe mojority of gamers own 60hz panels. Or they didnt think it was worth it. 144Hz is more for FPS players

  8. Ohh is that really all there is to it?

So when starting, all I do is pick the SSD as boot and make sure to format the HHD so that it is seen.

Is that it or did you mean something different by partition?

Yes. When you install windows, you install it on the SSD. Then when you are setup go into disk manager and format the HDD. Then in steam and chrome you can set to download to SSD or HDD

  9. I want to know how to set this up. So that I can have only the boot

on my SSD, while having everything else on the HDD.

This way I can read and write as much as I want on my HDD with

out worrying that the SSD is being affected.

For example; download steam games or programs, save files,

    and other stuff.

    Thanks in advance.

Sorry if this has been posted before.

You will need to set steam, chrome etc to save in a certain place. For chrome you can choose where to download and for steam go into settings for your stuff to save to the HDD

  10. Im new in buying the whole DSLR camera thing. Can someone tell me the difference between the two? Is there anything different other than the mm size of the camera?

Why are they the same price, and which one is better?
