  1. The brand is Vultech 1000W , doesn't seems to be from their new line as I can't find any image online that resembles the one I have. Can't post a photo right now, but even if I could the label is hidden on the other side of the psu and the fan and the side facing the panel have no writings on them, so it is pretty anonymous as it is mounted right now. The case is a Zalman R1, linus did a review back in 2015. And from the look of it, I could find no sign I should have any issue mounting the PSU downwards, well as mentioned the prevoius one had 0 issue until it died, so, pretty sure something fishy is going on. PSU gotta go, in the hope that the issue does not come back with a new (and better) one.
  2. Quick backstory, we are talking about a 4yrs old PC that recently got a Thermaltake 550W PSU swapped because the fan on the PSU had died, and trying to game rebooted the PC. Now, the PSU was changed by a local PC Store with an off brand one 1000W PSU (Yeah, I know...), and it was mounted with the fan upwards, the case is a Zalman R1, and for the 4 years it was in working order with old PSU, this was facing downward, given the case have the dust filter and all, the case is raised from the gound and on a flat surface. Seen that, I decided to turn it downards not to get any more dust than necessary in the PSU and not create turbolence the the GPU right above, as soon as I turn the fan downward and try to play anything the PC starts rebooting again... Turned the PSU over again and this this does not happen with the fan facing upwards, well happened once in 24hrs, but before was instant. The fan is kinda loud and fast on this one (even if the maximum draw of the system should be 350W) and I was suspecting some "vacuum" effect with the mesh on the bottom of the case, but can't be sure. Has anyone got this issue before? For me is a first, it seems the PSU was suffocating downward facing. Obviously this PSU is going away, but I'm starting to think maybe there is more to this issue than the PSU itself, any experience you have got could be helpful. Thanks to anyone that can help me solve this.
  3. Need a little bit of help here, I've a 3 node google wifi setup and I'm looking for ways (on the cheap) to use a VPN on the entire network. As for now I have my ISP Modem (that obviously does not support VPN) connected via Ethernet to the google wifi. Connecting the ISP modem to a router with VPN support and then this router to the google wifi is a good idea? Could I have issues with these setup? What is the cheapest device with VPN support that I could use for this task? possibly with gigabit ethernet ports. Thanks!
  4. Well, no one replied, but if anyone is using CAM software and having this issue it seems that he is the reason the temperature spikes on boot, he puts 40% load for a minute and honestly I don't know why the temperature raises so bad, if you disable CAM on bootup the temperature stays put on 28-29.
  5. When I boot up my PC the temps on my CPU are a little too high. I'm using a grid+ to control my case fan, and when it gets into windows fan speed ramps up to 100% and the temps are on 41°/42° C After 5 seconds max it drops to 29, than it hovers from 30 to 42 depends on the load, in-game I've seen temperature around 59°C On stress test around 64°C. Ambient is 24C I'm using a 212Hyper as a cooler, but I cannot explain that boot temps, is that normal!?
  6. Well, as I said I've paid with paypal and sent back the product already, maybe them can get me a refund if comunication fails. Not to mention lawsuit are expensive here, too much for a GPU to be worth it.
  7. Well in europe seller is usually the one providing warranty, more so with brands that have no headquarters in your country. And if you receive a product and the day after you contact them to say it is defective, they should DOA/RMA the card and you should not wait for refund or get a new one. But again, it all depends on the seller, this one, is not going to be that fast or easy.
  8. This is another story completely, the seller is refusing to refund me because "I opened the box". Well, next time I'll fit the box into my PCI slot to see if something works... Seller is not being nice about refund, and my request to at least not take too long for a replacement card has been ignored completely, never replied. I guess next week I will have to call paypal in, let's see.
  9. A couple of weeks back I ordered an rx470 the nitro version, the card was frankly not that good, it was loud and temperature weren't that great either but it was working just fine. So i decided to get the card back and buy a GTX 980 from Inno3d that was on sale, put the card into the system and it was running fine, install driver, test the card, benchmark etc.. The temperature was 66° in-game and fan would not go over or move from 40%, but it was ok, still silent. The next morning I go to turn on my build and "no signal" (f*ck), reboot and still nothing, so I used the hdmi out of the motherboard, and the system was up and running. No Gtx 980 in device manager, no gtx 980 in bios. So I: 1. Reseated the card 2. Changed the PCI-E slot 3. Cleared CMOS 4. changed the power cable from the power supply 5. Tried it into another Build (still nothing) Why? How could a card die so suddenly and work only one day? I tried the PCI-E slot with a wifi card, and an old PCI-E x16 gen 1 Ati card, and both worked. This is my build i7 4790k Asus Z97A 24GB hyper x 1866 XFX 850W ProSeries Bronze 250 Samsung EVO 2TB Seagate drive Is this Inno3d quality? What could have gone wrong? Please help me understand, I'm trying to get a new card now, next week but I'm afraid something is off. I read the 3V 5V and 12V of the PSU to know if it was unstable, or failing and they are: +12v: min. 12.096V | max. 12.096V +5v : min 5.040V max. 5.080V +3.3v : min 3.344v | max 3.360
  10. No one knows, or can give me an advice?
  11. I've built my PC nearly 2 years ago, and the psu soffered from a slight fan noise/tic. Nothing unusual I read online at the time. Now I starter noticing some humming, and my case was actually vibrating, I've figured it was the psu turning all my fan off , except the cpu cooler, and removing the gpu. Now when I turn off my PC and switch the psu off I hear 2 out of 4 times a pop, it gets longer the slower I press the switch. I'm worried it could die on me, I've dusted off gently with air spray the psu fan to see if the vibration stopped, and it got a little better, but it's still there. Should I be worried? And change the psu right away?
  12. I've downloaded the right driver for my system, but I cannot choose the driver to be installed, because the installation program does not see the card.
  13. It doesn't let me, if I run the installation it scan for the hardware and it let me install only the install manager, nothing else. The card does not show up in windows. And there is no output on the card, so I cannot even get into bios if I try to use only the dedicated GPU.
  14. So I got myself R9 290X from sapphire for my rig but when I connect the GPU doesn't work at all, the fans are spinning, but if I go into bios the PCI-E slot is pratically seen as empty. On board graphics works fine, the cards doesn't show up in windows, and catalyst software doesn't not give me the possibility to install anything as the card is nowhere to be found in the system. What I've tried: 1. Another PCI-E Card, a very old card but everything was working ok. 2. HDMI and DVI port. 3.Force Graphic into bios to PCI-E 4.Tried different PSU cables 5.Tried dual graphic mode with a second monitor (with the old card this works also) 6.Uninstalled Intel Display drivers and reboot. 7.Seated and reseated the card No luck so far. I've a Z97A and a 850W XFX PSU if it can be of any help. I've opened a DOA but I've tonight to try any other thing that can help me. Thanks.
  15. Hi, I'm looking for a backplate for the R9 290X, but there isn't much to be found online. The only one I've found is the EK-FC one: http://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-fc-r9-290x-backplate-black.html I just wanted to know if it can be mounted onto a stock cooler R9 290x from sapphire. Hope someone is able to help me. Thanks
