  1. Budget (including currency): 1500 usd is the high end of what I want to spend. Country: Unites States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: everything from single player story games like horizon series, last of us, fps games. Flight sim. Also some video editing could be happening in the future. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Need to get a monitor at some point also to go along with this so a decent monitor recommendation would be great. Most likely looking to hit 1440p This is what I've got so far, https://pcpartpicker.com/list/JLbTTY
  2. Yeah...and it almost just looks like they are trying to unload the 5000 series chips by putting them "on sale"
  3. @foxbill86 @191x7 @Eigenvektor@Somerandomtechyboi @BiotechBen What i got from all yalls replies is best buy sales suck. Lol. I'm not really on a crazy budget or anything probably looking around the 1100 1200 usd range. That being said I like a good sale but value is a part of that and from what yall said, and some additional looking it seems going am5 is a much better deal long term. Microcenter has some bundles that look pretty compelling with cpu mobo and ram if I can convince someone to pickup for me. Thanks for the advice/info
  4. Hey all, Looking at building a new rig, stopped by best buy and was looking and they have ryzen 5000 series on some pretty good discounts. 5600x for 170 5800x for 260 5900x for 300 I'm curious if these are worth it for thr price in 2024 or if I'd be better of getting something on a newer platform. Thank for any feedback.
  5. Hey all, Trying to find a case that will fit my needs and having some difficulty. Basically I want to transplant a computer running some management software to a new case because the psu in the old Dell case died. I'm looking for a case that will mount in a compact wall mounted rack with a matx mother board and 2 3.5 inch mounts. My biggest problem has been the depth. The rack looks like it only has 15inchs of usable depth. Anyone know of something that would work? Thanks in advance.
  6. I'm upgrading from a Pentium g3258 with a r9 270.
  7. Forgot about the price. Was just thinking more for the performance side at the moment. But its in another comment. There asking 375 for the 375 for the 3 parts.
  8. Mostly gaming and maybe some light work loads down the line. Don't see anything heavy in that department. The listing I saw was for that CPU, the GPU and a msi z170a mobo for 375.
  9. Hey all. Wanted to get some opinions on this. I found someone locally selling an i5 6500 along with an msi mobo and a gtx 1070. So my question is basically is upgrading to that CPU worth it in 2019 with it already being a few years old?
  10. Hey all, So I've got an older super budget rig I built and was looking to update it some. I found someone locally selling an EVGA GTX 1070 Superclocked, a MSI Z170A Gaming m5 motherboard, and a Intel Skylake i5-6500 CPU. Wanted to get some opinions if tall thought these parts would be worth it in being that they are parts that are a couple years old. It would be a big uprage from Pentium g3258 and r9 270. Just wanted some more opinions. I havnt stayed quite as upto date with hardware as I would have liked to. thanks in advance.
  11. Hey all. I wanted to just some help and opinions on upgrading a old all in one to windows 10. Its the dell inspiron one 19 (product support page on dell http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/servicetag/9YGRSL1/configuration ) IT says on that page that windows 10 isnt and will not be supported and i wanted to get some other opinions. would it still be worth the upgrade or should i not bother. The pc isnt mine or i would do it and if problems ever crept up id deal with them but i am trying to get this thing to were it just works for basic tasks. Thanks in advance.
  12. I would spend more than this but my first board was a msi z97 pc mate. i got it from micro center in a deal with a Pentium g3258 for like 110. Hard to beat that.
  13. Thanks for all the help. definitely going to look into cmstorm some. Does anybody know were i could get a quickfire Xt. it looks like what i want but its out of stock on amazon and newegg.
  14. i like that keyboard but the mouse is to much. The price is good for the mouse so that might work. ok. so whichever is cheaper/in stock.
  15. Hi So i want to upgrade from my random dell keyboard and hp mouse. I want to get a mechanical keyboard but wanted some recommendations cause there are so many out there. Im looking for one the has media keys and a num pad. preferably backlit but i dont need or want full rgb or anything crazy. I tried some switches and I like the Cherry mx blues. i am hoping to try them again before i buy one though. id like the keyboard to be around 80 bucks. As far as the mouse goes id dont need anything crazy. I just want something that feels comfy and will last for awhile and works well. a couple buttons on the side would be nice though. id like to keep the mouse below 50. Thanks.
