Hi guys. I got a 'old' computer system from a friend for a slab of beer (yes i'm Australian) and I was wondering what peoples thoughts were on how the specs hold up, especially the CPU, for modern gaming (Dragon Age Inquisition) etc are and whether this should be sold for parts or is a worthwhile investment?
CPU: AMD FX 8120
Motherboard: ASUS 990FX Sabretooth
CPU Cooler: CM Hyper 212+
RAM: 8GB G.SKILL Ripjaws (X)? 1600Mhz
PSU: Gigabyte Odin Pro 800w
Case: Fractal Design XL
There is no graphics card, but I was wondering peoples thoughts if it is a worthwhile investment to drop $300 - $400 on a R9 290 or R9 290X to make this a backup/family/e-peen rig or if it will inevitably be a crippled platform? See my profile for my current rig as a point of reference.
Cheers.
