Is this build good? Need help on a case. ($1200)

Does that come with a windowless design? -

Soo, are you guys helping with the build or what? With the improvement over last gen with the 10xx. I'd expect the 6700 to last quite long. i5 vs i7 doesn't matter guys. OC or not OC, it is what it is. It's what he wants. Trust me, I know i7 doesn't have much over i5. But please. It's what he wants -

He's upgrading from a Mac. He'll sell the 970 soon once he has the chance to upgrade. Plus, I don't see the need for the 6700K. Any OC for any title wouldn't really help in gaining FPS. Not unless he was running a 2600k. -

Yes. Mainly. -
Well, it's one of those posts. But hey, wouldn't hurt to ask. Are these parts good? I'm finding parts for a build for a friend of mine. He wants "top of the line" components without going overboard. He insists on getting the i7, he doesn't overclock, which is why I chose the locked one. As for the case, he wants an affordable windowless case and with good airflow that is. I was thinking about the Define R4. But any others that are good and isn't expensive? Sorry if the parts chosen looks disgusting. CPU: Intel Core i7 6700 CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U14S GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 GAMING Mobo: Gigabyte GA-H170-D3HP RAM: Kingston DDR4 HyperX Fury 2400Mhz 8GB SSD: Kingston HyperX Savage 240GB HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB (ST1000DM003) PSU: Corsair CX600M 80 Plus Bronze Better parts recommendation are appreciated. Budget is approximately $1200 (USD). Edit: The GPU will be sold to him by me. Which he plans on upgrading later on. He's also upgrading to his first PC from a Late 2013 iMac.

I'm using a GTX 970 atm, but wont hurt to try a giveaway. Well hey, I could try that new multi gpu thing thats been going around to see if it works.

i5 4690k OC 4.5GHz at 1.15v
CaptainEinstein replied to CaptainEinstein's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Not to sound like a bitch but, for me I'm not very much comfortable with 24 hour stress testing especially synthetic stress tests. I'm not a professional editor needing 100% stability. Stress tests for about an hour or two with a few games of League, CSGO, GTA V without crashing would be a pretty good validation for me. Well, I'll try to go as high as possible without going over 1.25v if possible. -
Is this a good overclock? Did I get lucky? Also, tested about an hour and it was smooth on AIDA 64. Should I keep going or will that affect the overall stability?

What is a good RAM timing like?
CaptainEinstein replied to CaptainEinstein's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
This doesn't really answer my question. I don't mind the frequency the ram is at. I'm just asking what is a good ram timing like. I just want to know if its important to set it in a way, but thanks. -
RAM is the Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3 1866MHz, 8GB stick I got and overclock of 2000MHz from 1866MHz. RAM timings from 10-11-10-30 CR1 to 9-11-9-30 CR2. All on 1.6v A question that I want to ask is, is that a good ram timing? I've read somewhere that it should be around the same numbers. Like 10-11-10 or 10-10-10. So, is 9-11-9 something good?

3770k vs 6700k + General system advice
CaptainEinstein replied to Kana's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Would you specify what the issues are specifically? -
Right where I live, there's an offer on this monitor. Buy one get the HyperX Cloud headset free. My only concern is the resolution. I've been playing games on DSR of 1800p for quite a while now. I have a GTX 970 running and 900p seems ridiculous. So I'm looking to buy a new panel. Also, I'm close to upgrading my GPU, either adding another 970 or sell this one and buy a 980Ti. Going from 1800p back to 900p is not pleasing at all. So would a 1080p monitor be good? Probably not going to use DSR on this because I plan to take advantage of the 144hz. Or should I spend more and get a 1440p 144hz XB270HU? Also, TN vs IPS. Help?
-
What do I really set this to? I've read somewhere that it should be a little bit lower than the Vcore. So I've set my Cache Voltage to 1.27v. Vcore at 1.295v. Running 4.7GHz. I've also set my Min CPU Cache Ratio to 35 and Max to 47. Again, from reading elsewhere, I have to set the minimum to the stock multiplier of my CPU which is 35 and max to the stable overclocked multiplier, which is in my case, 47. Is this all good? Or am I doing something wrong here? Or is the cache voltage too high? Oh and, I have set both the Vcore and the Cache Voltage on adaptive mode. Edit: This is on an Asus Z97-A motherboard. CPU is the 4690k.

I'm running a 4690k at 4.7GHz, 1.295v. Was wondering if I could get more out of my RAM. It is currently at 2000MHz, dropped from 2133MHz because it was giving me BSODs after about 20 minutes of running the system. Both those frequencies are on 1.6v because I wasn't really sure if 1.65v would be safe? or reliable? And Reads, Writes and Copies benchmark (On AIDA64) on the 2133MHz was giving me 16000MB/s on each, the 2000MHz is giving me 15000MB/s, 15000MB/s, 14000MB/s. Is it safe it to run the RAM at 1.65v for testing? and if stable, for 24/7 use? Oh, and it's Kingston HyperX Fury 1866MHz RAM on an Asus Z97-A motherboard
