  1. I have the same monitor as you - this is good to know
  2. This is coming out of my knowledge area - I don't usually have more HDD's then the PC has bays. 900D has 9 hard drive bays, 4 optical bays. It's pricey though. Not sure what to suggest other than that. Hope this helps
  3. I wouldn't recommend a silent case then - as they usually restrict airflow somewhat which could overheat HDD's if they're in close proximity. There's many, off the top of my head, Corsair 450D (personal recommendation - comes with 3x 2.5" with an additional cage you can buy for more. also with 2x 3.5".) I know I said don't go for silent, but Fractal Design Define R5 has many bays. If you choose this one, go for the non windowed one, then you get an additional fan mount. How many bays do you want?
  4. like ShadowCaptain said, these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Akasa-AK-HDA-03-2-5-3-5-Inch-SSD-Adapter/dp/B005ZWGFAC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1454681442&sr=8-2&keywords=3.5inch+to+2.5inch I picked this out based on number of reviews+Prime available. You can go for a cheaper one, they all do the same thing
  5. my 450D works amazingly well for cooling. would recommend
  6. May be a bit late - but others may read and appreciate so: Steel series QCK mouse mat (this is honestly fantastic - used this for years, I opted for the heavy $20) Logitech G502 Mouse (personal use again, and great review from Linus $69) Logitech G430 Headset (personal use, I have no cons for this headset at all $74) CM Storm QuickFire Rapid Keyboard (friends are happy with this, and seems great at the price $76) This does go over your budget - my bad. But the extra money investment is worth it for sure - these are the things you'll be using every time you use the computer, you don't want something cheap and nasty. If you were to change anything, I'd recommend removing the mouse mat (and getting it in the future ) and then another item would be the keyboard. Just get a slightly cheaper one. But only do that if you really can't stretch your budget. Hope this helps!
  7. is this $100-150 for all of them, or each?
  8. and like i've said previously, the games may not be fully optimised. There are a lot of advanced settings to 'break your rig' on GTA V. I'm in a lecture right now so I can't play the video, but I can only assume he hasn't tinkered with these Advanced settings. I had awkward stalls every few minutes that would come and go and I couldn't decide why. I messed around with these advanced settings and without effecting gameplay was able to hit 60fps ultra 4k. I'm not sure what this guy is doing to not hit that, but the only time I'll dip is if a modder spawns in a bunch of items (like jumbo jets)
  9. witches 3 isn't the only triple A title out there 'm8' and surprisingly enough for you, other triple A titles i am exceeding 60fps ultra at 4k. sometimes it's not down to how demanding a game is, sometimes it's the fact it's not fully optimised
  10. 980Ti OC'd owner checking in. I run triple AAA titles 60FPS 4k 980Ti != 980
  11. Sounds like this is going to be interesting, Followed. I also like your thinking behind component selection :P
  12. Yeah strangely that link didnt seem to work lol it's also not in the british amazon so i couldn't find that particular one however, I did access it on the american amazon so I could see what it was. This is quite a good idea, however this produces more clutter on my desk which I wanted to avoid. And yeah I imagine the USB Dongle does something similar to that - both the headphone and microphone plug in. It could just be a usb dongle so that you can connect it to USB. (but on a side note, you can do a firmware update to the headset when it's plugged in like this, using the logitech gaming software)
  13. LTT vid's on second hand stuff show that it's best money for performance - but you need to make sure it properly works upon buying. try and go a bit out of your budget on the card now, it'll help you in the future when you come to this again, but you'll have a better card. (i.e stretching to a gtx970, even if it's not a massively OC'd one, as it'll be easier to sell a gtx970 then a gtx960 in the future for sure)
  14. just realised it does have a backplate... that's even worse.. could be motherboard, i.e not plugged in properly or the PCI socket is sagging itself either that or get another third-party stronger back plate. but on a strix it shouldnt be the card (not that i would've thought anyways)
  15. I wouldn't say its sagging awfully, if you move it via car or any other transport i would consider a backplate
  16. See now i voted for upgraded CPU, but you don't need it. Maybe in a year or so with the games then you will more then likely need it - so that's an upgrade that will happen. The GPU might be more relevant to upgrade tbh though. I would consider selling your current and getting a new one, rather than a dual set up.
  17. I had a old PC and needed a dedicated graphics card, picked up the 5450. Just saying, low price cards still have an audience, they're just not LTT forum users
  18. Hi guys, So my current set-up is just the on-board audio. Which from my knowledge is actually pretty good. Obviously not as good as a dedicated £300 sound card, but then again they're not connected to studio monitors. They're connected to my Logitech G430 and Bose Companion 2 series III desktop speakers. At the moment the Bose speakers are connected to the on-board sound and the G430 are connected to USB dongle that was provided. Now I know quite a lot about electronics, in fact I'm studying Electronic and Communications Engineering MEng at University. So if there is a 'know it all' reading this, throw me what ya got in your noggin, chances are I'll understand more then someone else. So iWearKiltz, what is the damned question?! Well there is two kind of. The way things are connected, is that best? Is there an easier way to switch between headphone audio and speaker audio, other than going through the sound options? Now to note, I have a Logitech macro keyboard, so if there is some macro I could assign to switch audio that would also work. I also have the sound suite that came with the motherboard, although haven't got much experience in playing around with it which is why I'm asking here. I did have a soundblaster in my last PC, and that had a handy software button (until they updated it and made it harder... like who programs something to be harder.. ?!?!?) cool? cool. Please, If you do know anything, any comment is appreciated. Cheer's in advance!
  19. Read the whole of this post and it was very educational. Makes me re-consider my fan set-up. Thank you very much guys!
  20. Yeah that looks awesome! sorry I'm in a lecture so can't spare time to re-read intro - but are you getting a new CPU heatsink? if not, painting the heatsink itself yellow would be awesome!
