  1. gonna be honest, if the next gen of consoles flops, it'll be all about portable gaming. say hello to real racing 3 instead of gran turismo haha!! i'm not really pro console gaming. would much rather have a more flexible platform (no pun intended) in which can be upgraded more often to better things without complication. however, in one of the latest WAN shows, linus and slick were discussing an idea of an add-on which would could bring upgradability to consoles by just adding another piece of hardware to a connector on the console. at the end of the day, theres all this speculation which shows interest from the market so yeah, 720p or not, i think next gen consoles might still sell reasonably well
  2. like everyone else is saying, 9xxx series, or if you cant wait for ever reason, single 7970, more satisfying user experience
  3. people just seem to be giving you 2011 cpu recommendations. honestly i'd say just from the features the new socket and chipset provide, go with the newer chip, 4770k gets my vote
  4. netbooks at any rate (assumed from the fact its by eee) dont last as long as laptops, or desktops for that matter. check out the suggestions above, but honestly i'd just suggest getting a desktop tl;dr get a desktop hope this helped
  5. i'm using a 6100, which is just a 6 core version of the 8 core you're suggesting. i have to say, amd chips run hotter and carry more power. from my experience, 3770k, and get him to borrow money for a ssd. he wont regret it hope this helps
  6. i recommend a fresh install. you're wishing what i wished for when i got my ssd. but i decided to just fresh install and then bring all my files across when/if appropriate.
  7. the multi touch gesture mousepad works wonders. not sure if you're familiar with it, but it really is one of a kind and so natural to use. and the keyboard is actually amazing. considering i used to hate the keyboard on all apples, be it the thin or the chunky style, they've really changed and i find myself typing this with such ease that i keep confusing myself with my desktop keyboard. that knocks out your two suggestions, and the two main USB devices that are usually hooked up to ANY pc. the 10GB/s speed (quoting from you, i'm personally not sure what thunderbolt can perform) is actually incredibly useful. yeah when you're pushing word documents around the place it'll be a fraction quicker, but when i was transferring items from the thunderbolt storage my girlfriend has to the mac, i can certainly say we saved two-three minutes. those two-three minutes were spent doing something more 'interesting'. so, "qwertywarrior", before you try and argue, don't pick out all the good points for your opponent to slap you down with. #served edit: everything i used to hate about laptops; trackpad, scrolling, typing, screen or the battery, are all absolutely amazing on this laptop. im not an apple fanboy, but this laptop might just make me one. try it out, then maybe you'd realise your comment is completely out of place
  8. yeah i can agree with this, but apparently she doesnt have that much money to devote to a laptop as shes going to university and obviously needs the money to pay for living expenses. never have i ever heard that runescape would run down a laptop!! haha!! either way, i'm going to recommend the i3 to her from your two links, and seeing as she is going to struggle with whatever operating system she is given, windows 8 is probably as good as its going to get given the fact she'll probably enjoy the metro layout and tiles updating etc. thanks for these links and also for the headsup
  9. looks good, but its hp, i'll put it into the list of candidates though
  10. chromebooks are out of the quesiton because the friend of which I'm recommending the laptop too is so technologically illiterate that she probably wouldn't understand how the whole system works. and with low storage onboard, having things on the cloud would just be another layer of confusion nice suggestion though
  11. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-Aspire-S3-391-13-3-Ultrabook/dp/B00ARAKD46/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1376682951&sr=8-4&keywords=ultrabook#productDetails this a good idea?
  12. yeah, i'd like to go towards the ultrabook market, but honestly speaking, at the £350 budget ($400 after exchange and then taking note of how much cheaper things in the US are), it's going to be hard to get an ultrabook for that price. if you have any suggestions, please post
  13. sometimes companies have a reputation for a reason lol :p maybe you got the 1/1000 laptop that does well! either way i'd prefer to avoid dell's from my own experience also
  14. looks good, however i'd prefer too, for my reputations sake (lol i know! what reputation xD) that I'd rather not get her a refurbished and thats an american site, she needs a uk keyboard and preferably a uk website to match. thanks for the suggestions though. what about this one? http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00B2HVYSW/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=computers
  15. so recently i've been asked by numerous people for me to recommend them a laptop, and its been pretty easy cause their budgets are £1500 or around there. What's made it easier is the fact that they would need a trusty laptop, and in my eyes that's apple. So my girlfriend got an air, and her best friend got a pro under my recommendation. Both of these cost £1500 each. My girlfriend then presents me with another friend. this friend only has a budget of around £350. (if you're going to suggest anything, please make sure you're using british sites as USA is normally cheaper then UK despite the exchange rate.) Now she doesn't want a netbook, but something to work on and take notes (so full sized keyboard would be a plus), and being a girl, nice aesthetics. i'm going to be searching on amazon right now, but im posting this to speed up the process. post those links boys and girls !
  16. I had a full tower for my first case when I used an ATX mobo. honestly, I can say that full towers are big, wont budge and are pretty damn heavy to move. I'd only get a full tower if you're going to use larger mobos. i'd recommend mid tower therefore, and if you take this advise then Fractal Design R4 has done me justice and deserves a shout here. however, if you decide that you still want a case which carries bragging rights and is full tower, i'd suggest the 600T windowed - beast!
  17. good review. enjoyed reading its from the 13" air mac that my girlfriend bought from my recommendation (even though never owning a mac and never really using one). the only thing i disagreee with you is the "productivity" bit. you said yourself that you had written several articles.. how is that not productive.. and then how can you wrap that into only having two usb ports? im no mac prodigy but thunderbolt can daisy chain, is faster and beats usb in every aspect, so having just one of those ports is sufficient. i understand that you're new to apple laptops too, but honestly, do your research before making a review lol! other then that, i enjoyed reading the review and agreed with every bit of it :P
  18. WASD is like the untold of standard. have to stay with the one im most comfortable with i use a controller for flying helicopters and jets in bf3, but other then that, good old keyboard and mouse with WASD
  19. i have a blue drive, and im doing good with it. my brother had a seagate external and it totally just gave in and he lost everything, so since then i just gave up on seagate and went with WD so i'd recommend a WD black. thats despite myself having a blue, i just heard that blacks are better then blues
  20. dont get me wrong, i do too :p but i leave time for my girlfriend and im far from shy lol :p glad i made you happy lmao!!
  21. nice to see you still doing this haha! iWearKiltz please with the capitals in the detailed places like i said above and like on my profile name
  22. my top 10 would be 1. have a modern penthouse which is completely computerised 2. interior(ly) spec-ed out audi/Mercedes/lexus 3. have an intel based system (im done with this AMD, seriously) 4. go to uni, study electronic and electrical engineering. 5. family 6. own some high-range speakers other then the 5.1 logitech speakers i have around my desk :P 7. get fitter. not that im already fit (hahahahahahaha) 8. max out on bf4 when it comes out(hardcore bf3 fan - my girlfriend can vouch for me lol!) 9. get a 4g phone and then have an appropriate tariff for streaming music/videos for my tablet/phone 10. faster internet connection. 10Mb atm. I'd also like to live closer to my provider.. my ping is pretty crazy atm. 60 for local UK servers. hope you enjoyed reading
  23. not trying to be stereotypical about you, but being shy and wanting a girlfriend seems like a nerds habits :p along with having a 9xxx series card haha! still nice list lol :p its all about having confidence in who you are. if you are confident in yourself, its shines off of yourself gl in life mate!!
  24. everything goes through a period where its too busy for the system to handle. obviously EA has had its first impulse lol. a good example was LTT, before the server update LTT was clogged at like 200 people during a livestream. so origin did good at holding the amount they did :p why am i defending ea? i need help, message me protips to not be a ea guy
  25. avast avast avast. you get a month without registering, and then a year if you register. registering doesnt cost anything, and you don't get annoying emails, just quality virus protection. avg is also a good call, but i havent used them for about 2 years so i dont know what they're like now
