  1. Thanks dude , wasn't sure on the style until I saw them light up for the first time
  2. I could easily part out and make a couple hundred back , but with as lucky as I was , it's gonna be kept , all I'll ever need to do is upgrade GPU , which will be next
  3. Hi , honestly it was mostly luck , the cpu was a gift from my little brother , he likes pc gaming etc but dosent know how to build them , so I upgraded his pc and got it for free as payment i suppose The GPU was the luckiest find , came up locally for 150 , was dusty asf , but worth the 3 hours cleaning it etc RAM was ebay , I saw it pop up for less than £300 and immediately bought them , ram is high anyway, but better than buying 16gb brand new , PSU was also Ebay, got it for £50 , no box etc but had all the cables etc Everything else was normal sales , motherboard was 30 off , case was nearly 60 off , cooler came from Ebay as an ex review sample It was more about time spent looking for parts, probably took me 5 months to get everything I needed
  4. So after 10 years I finally got the itch to build a PC again , my last setup was a FX8350 and GTX1070 combo , I bought the 1070 on release , and then sold the pc a few weeks later as I crashed my motorcycle and needed the cash to fix it Anyways , after 10 years, and after building my partner a pc to play Paralives and sims , I got the itch to build something again , so here is what I came up with After alot of deliberation I decided to go mostly second hand parts to save myself some cash , and I also decided to go AM5 , mainly because I got a 7800x3d from my little brother after his upgrade So specs are 7800x3d , currently messing with PBO , but got a solid 18118 on R23 @1.245v so far 32gb Corsair Platinum RGB 6000mt/s cl26 Gigabyte eagle ice B850 Be Quiet light loop 360 IChill rtx3070ti (place holder until I find a white gpu on sale) Corsair RM850E XPG 1tb rgb ssd Thermaltake The Tower 600 As you can see I went for as much white as I could , the case was chosen because it had to sit on the left of the desk I got (room constraints) Everything i bought was on sale or second hand (GBP Cpu : Free Mobo : £120 RAM : £280 GPU : £150 PSU : £50 SSD : £90 CASE : £120 AIO :£80 I spent about 4 months getting the best deals I could and other than a white gpu (the 3070ti was an amazing value for 150) i thonk it came out good Let me know what you guys think
  5. Hey everyone , so after alot of deliberation about what case I would like to use, I found the Tower600 , which would suit my needs amazingly well , the only issue I have is with the placement of the AIO After watching a few videos about AIO placement and how it can affect temps etc , I REALLY don't want to mount it like thermaltake wants you too as I think it will Introduce air and noise into the system It looks like I could potentially remove one or both of the lower fan mounts and flip the rad so the the pipes are at the bottom , but I'm not sure , I'll try and find a pic to demonstrate Any ideas peeps ? Thanks in advance
  6. Hey guys , so got a build coming up that I've managed to scrape together slowly , mostly a white theme But I've hot a bit of an issue with the case , I need a case that will sit on the left hand side of my desk , no taller than ~500 mm ,ATX for factor, id like to be able to see the innards of my pc obviously, so I've looked at some "inverted" cases , but I've only found one i really like (will link) (Would also like a vertical gpu mount , but not essential as I can add this at a later date) I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas with this as from what I can see there isn't alot of cases like that out there Link for case I like : https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ssupd-xhuttle-midi-tower-white-cas-ssu-04818.html Curious to see what you guys come up with , thanks in advance
  7. Thanks , ive seen this board floating around , unfortunately dosent have wifi which i need in my scenario , otherwise I would have already bought this board
  8. Hey everyone , so in the next month I'll be looking to get myself a PC together after 10 years of being away from pc game , slowly but surely I'm getting the parts together , currently have a 3070ti , rm850e powesupply and a 1tb nvme (got all VERY cheap) I'm looking to get CPU , Mobo and ram all at the same time , I will be going AM5 as I have a friend that's willing to let me have half of his DDR5 for alot cheaper than I can buy it for currently (32gb) But here's the thing , I have no idea where to even start with the motherboard , obviously I don't want to overspend for the sake of it , and I also don't want something that isn't up to spec for the 7800x3d that will be going into it The only criteria I have is that it fits the aesthetic (mostly a white build with the exception of the GPU) And that it has wifi , hard line isn't an option in my property Budget wise I've looked up to £200 but if I can get something cheaper that will do the trick then that's what I'll do Any suggestions ? Thanks in advance
  9. Yeah my brother has a 7700x and a rtx3060 atm and it's held up really well hence why it was a consideration I agree , leaning towards x3d also , thanks
  10. 7800x3d ~ £230 9700x ~220 7600x3d ~ 180 7500x3d ~ 180 7700x ~ 150 Hence the dilemma , I'm leaning towards x3d just because I can , I know eventually I'll max out the am5 platform before moving to whatever comes next , but I'd like something that I can throw anything at and not worsley I suppose
  11. Hey everyone , so after building my GF a budget PC to play sims and some light games , ive got the itch again to build myself a pc , ive basically decided on AM5 platform , and i already have an rtx3070ti i got for less than £200gbp which was a crazy deal My conundrum is with the CPU for AM5 , as with everything I have a budget , and will most likely buy second hand unless I can find a good cpu new and in budget roughly ~£200 is the budget CPU's ive considered , PC used for mainly gaming 7800x3d 7600x3d 7500x3d 7700x 7600x 9600x 9700x (If you have any other ideas lemme know) What's your guys take on this ? Common sense says get the best cpu i can , but I'm not even sure I'll need it , will be gaming at 1440p , with the hopes of upgrading gpu in a year or so Thanks in advance
  12. Anything X3D is out of price range , hence the hoping to upgrade the am5 platform once the price comes down a bit
  13. Agreed , I suppose if am6 is somewhat soon, it would be safe to assume that it will ise DDR5 , kinda makes sense to me to go am5 now if that is the case
  14. Hey guys , so i recently secured a rtx3070ti for less than £200 gbp , originally was going to give it to my brother as an upgrade for him co I'm a nice brother , but he's decided to keep his 3060 So I'm gonna build a desktop again after 10 years of being away from the pc space I've been looking into AM4 and AM5 stuff , I found a 8400f 16gb ddr5 motherboard bundle for £360 (with the view to eventually upgrade the cpu and ram to 32gb when prices come down) Or i can get a secondhand AM4 platform for basically the same money , 5700x/5800x 32gb ddr4 etc So here's my question , what would you go for? From my understanding I'd get better immediately performance from the am4 platform , but obviously a very limited upgrade path , where as the am5 platform would give me a much better upgrade path and future performance Thanks in advance
  15. Hey guys , so I've been scraping together a pc that is capable of 1080p gaming, not shooting for huge numbers or anything just something to get back into pc gaming after 10 years of being out of it I was given amd old x99 mobo bundle for free , and I know the 5820k that game with it is aging but once it's oc'd it should be somewhat okay , my intention would be to go AM4 when funds allow , as I already have ddr4 , so makes sense Anyways onto my question, the last gpu I bought new was a Strix gtx1070 so bare with me , but I have a few ideas as to what I can afford , just after some opinions on what people think I should go with Intel ARC a770 Intel ARC b580 Rx9060xt 8gb (16gb is out of budget for me in the UK) Or an RTX5060 I like the idea of the A770 for the vram , but I know the 9060xt will be vastly better if vram won't be an issue at 1080p etc Hoping to play COD , Cyberpunk etc etc Budget would be ~£300
