~$1000 Gaming/Video Editing PC Build!
ShockwavesXL replied to BOTBALL's topic in New Builds and Planning
Well its just wasting money on features you dont use. If u go to a h97 board you can push for more hdd's/ssd's or some fancy lighting or even another 8gb stick of ram... Though this is all up to you. I think that was what he meant with switching the board. Otherwise I think its a great build. -
You might need to update the bios for it to work with the 4790k. It should say that on the sites aswell. That's about it Edit: correct me if im wrong!!

Ultimate gaming/rendering PC for £1150
ShockwavesXL replied to MrCharlieZombie's topic in New Builds and Planning
I had mine running on 4.6 ghz and was around 70c... This was with 2 corsair sp fans. So yeah, it will do fine. Though it is allot better with a AIO liquid or better air cooler. But its still not bad imo. Edit: But you are right, the Phanteks is better . -
Ultimate gaming/rendering PC for £1150
ShockwavesXL replied to MrCharlieZombie's topic in New Builds and Planning
I would replace the cooler with a CM evo 212. And with the money you save from that add some better/more fans, since the 750d's airflow aint that good. The 212 will still be fine for overclocking the 4790k. -
I would go for the rewind button. But in this aspect pause is an option. Come on, we all think like this atleast every now and then. When you see that hot chick walking on the streets...

1 28inch - 32inch monitor OR 3 24inch monitors?
ShockwavesXL replied to JoeyOnline's topic in Displays
Hey man! Personally I love my 3 monitor setup at 24 inch @ 1080p. Going bigger then 24 inch on 1080p isnt really nice. It would just look shit. So yea, my reccomendations are 3x 24 inch @ 1080p. Or 1 bigger screen @ 1440p at like 27 inch... If you want to go even bigger then 4k I would say. (mind you that you will need to move your head around whilst gaming, hence the reason I dont like to go bigger then 24 inch, or 27 with 1440p) As for brands on monitors I would have no idea . -

Upgrading / Building my Computer - Help?
ShockwavesXL replied to Pikennen's topic in New Builds and Planning
http://pcpartpicker.com/calculates how much Watt you need. And yes some BIOS features aswell as some onboard features like more fan headers... If you are going to keep the storage and the case. Then thats about a €200 and gives you the option of taking a 4790k, which you would benefit from if you are going to stream. -
Upgrading / Building my Computer - Help?

Nice post! Easy to read PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (€254.26 @ Amazon Deutschland) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler (€32.99 @ Amazon Deutschland) Motherboard: MSI Z97-G45 Gaming ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (€159.83 @ Amazon Deutschland) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1333 Memory (€70.21 @ Amazon Deutschland) Storage: Crucial MX100 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (€95.11 @ Amazon Deutschland) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (€56.90 @ Amazon Deutschland) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 4GB WINDFORCE Video Card Case: Corsair Air 540 ATX Mid Tower Case (€149.90 @ Caseking) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (€126.62 @ Amazon Deutschland) Total: €945.82 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-04-08 10:38 CEST+0200 This should be fine. There is money to be saved if you so desire. For instance you can use the ssd you have which would save some money. Could'nt find the price on the MSI mobo's. This is a replacement purely for the price The MSI Gaming 5 is a good mobo, and would recommend. The other ones are not really worth it... Just some extra features which arent that important for you I would think. There are also other cases, I just really love this case, and its easy to build in. PSU is abit overkill, but it is a very good psu. Can never go wrong there. And who knows, you might want to sli in the future But personally I would use a build like this, and modify it to your choice. As for the 970: you won't regret it. For me it runs everything on ultra @ 1080p. And it also doesn't really matter which one you pick. They're all good. Enjoy! Edit: forgot to add the os... That's about €80.. -
So its been nearly a week.. With the a couple of days off I really coulnt reply since I just got back from a visit to the UK. So I'm sorry The thing is a p4 isnt really from this year. And I think a new pc would work better. Just faster in general. Buy yea I already bought the parts I need . They should arrive either tomorow or the day after. Once its done, I'll just let my brother buy the ssd as a present... Thanks all!!
-
Ahh I agree with that. Tbh I cant even imagine a build without a ssd these days. But this time I'm on a tight budget. I deffo cant get above €300. So thats why it can be upgraded later. Since I think its my moms bday soon.
-
This I like. Though the ssd isnt really needed, and if they would like 1 they can always upgrade to that. Cheers

Hey guys! So first off: I'm in the progress of looking and making a build for my parents. Since there pc is about 7 to 8 years old, its time to upgrade!! Since I'm still living at home and they also still give me foods!! I think something like a new pc is a nice gift. It doesnt need to be over the top though The specs of the thing is something close to a gameboy..... Yes its that bad.. Its I think a pentium 4 or so with 2 or 4 gb of ram.... I have a budget of about 250-300 ish euros. I live in the Netherlands. I personally use German pcpartpicker to test the builds. Which is really close to Dutch prices. And obviously we wont be doing any overclocking, so no need for z97 boards and aftermarket coolers. And if the cooling isnt good enough I have a CM EVO 212 laying abouts since I just upgraded my own ^^. What does it need to do: Well they wont need it for much, simple browsing and some photo editing. Note that the photo editing is really, and I mean really amateur. Like adding a name and so haha. What do I have: I have a matx case, so I wont be needing that. I'm a member of dreamspark through school. So I also have an os. We wont be needing any peripherals. So I think this is all. Will be buying/building in about a weeks time. Thanks folks! Appreciate any help!!

Honestly I would go with 2x4gb. You could even go with like 1333 mhz sticks and barely notice any difference, if any at all. For gaming it doesnt matter. 2 sticks are also better then 1. Just get the cheapest sticks you can find. And you're golden. (don't even think you can find those though lol) For the GPU I would go with the 970 as I think 2gb isnt all that much and some games might reach the 2gb limit. Costs abit more then a 960 but you're good for a while. An i5-4440 would be fine, you won't have a bottleneck with it atleast! But yes I can see where you're coming from. A 4690k would be better, but with that do keep in mind that you might need to update the bios on your mobo. And for overclocking you will need a z97 board for it. Enjoy the build!

I'm running a 4790k, you can find the rest in the link in sig I believe!
