  1. You are right, after some newsmedia digging it seems that Facebook is conferming that they are still in research and development for future PC powered peripherals, but getting rid of Brendan Iribe is still not a good sing.
  2. Good day to you all!!l My parents are making a trip in the U.S. and they finally decided to purchase a VR headset for the family. They asked me as I am the most tech savvy and now I find my self in a pickle: Oculus Rift is far more affordable and the hand controllers are praised for their ease of use and functionality BUT yesterday there have been rumors about a possible cancellation of the oculus rift 2. I am fine being a generation behind the bleeding edge but if Oculus and Facebook keep pushing on portable devices the content creation for the Rift is going to plumb right? HTC Vive is a bit more clunky and pricey and the hand controllers are less interesting but it has a more versatile tracking technology. The question for the Vive is: will they roll a better hand controller system before or after a new headset? And if it will be after will it be compatible with the old Vive rig? Of course I am not expecting a precise answer from this forum community but living in Italy and with the lack of gaming conventions I can attend to I don't have a real pulse of the situation and I would like to get the best longevity for the hard money my parents earned.

  4. Hi. I got myself a beefy desktop a year ago and I am starting to be confident enought to tinker a bit with it. I was wandering if desktops could support power saving mesures that we usually see in laptops like the capability of using the dedicated or integrated grapics chip according to the need of the user. If there is not such a thing how hard would it be to implement it? I am sure that graphics card with fanless mode will make this implementation look ridiculous from a noise and power comsumption point of view but there are still out there cards with no such feature. thanks for your time. 6. it's roughly the same FIY i found this link http://www.hardwareluxx.de/community/f270/clevo-p6xxsx-gamer-notebook-2014-a-1043877.html that let me to discover another manifacturer who uploded some intresting content on youtube https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=UUkbs55RvPL817xcJV77QUnw the eurocom m5 seems to be the K56 4M the architecture cannot be too different
  7. Hi I am trying to find the best laptop for my little brother. We are not very intrested on the looks of the device and in the gaming category laptop tends to be too shiny for our taste. We live in Italy and there isn't as much of a choise as I would like it to be. I was going to get this asus from amazon but the french keybord layout and lack of repleaceble battery don't convince me. So I found theese two sellers from Germany who give full coverage over their products. http://www.mysn.eu/shop/xmg-gaming-notebooks-and-pcs.html and http://www.one.de/shop/mini-allround-gaming-gaming-notebooks-c-213_216.html they give full customization and Ideally I could buy my brother more storage and memory to keep his machin up to date. And for the same amount of money i would spend on the asus I could get a "K73 4M" from the second manifacturer. GPU nvidia 970 3GB CPU i7-4710mq memory up to 32GB storage up to 3TB (I hardly imagined having the possibility to upgrade to a raid config on a laptop) What I fear is the lack of feedback from reviewers on theese products, there are a few models for each of the two who have reviews but I lack of a lot of information. I understand theese are the same kind of laptop but rebranded and personalized. I am looking for a pc whom memory and storage can be upgraded but the pictures of the k73 4m suggest it is pretty slim so fear all the components that I can choose on the menu are soldered on the pc and i cannot upgrade the machine. Do you have any suggestion on this matter?
  8. Do I need to prefer DIMM to SIMM to avoid bottleneks or is it the same? http://www.amazon.it/Corsair-Simm-Memoria-DDR3-PC1600/dp/B009M0TF3W/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1414418724&sr=1-1&keywords=ram+16gb+ddr3+1600mhz
  9. You lost me on CUDA cores. I really haven't spent much time looking into AMD, all my acquaintances told me to go for Intel. As i know it would take quite some time to tell me differences and strenghts do you have a link to wich i can inform my self?
  10. 1-I know it is a trigky question but how much slower would video encoding go over 8 GB 1600MHz related to a 16 GB 2400MHZ? 2- I thought that th "msi 1150 Z97S" was a z97 chip compatible with newer CPUs..was I wrong? 3-I thought that gtx770 and 970 were pretty close to each other when you don't consider power consumption
  11. Yes i was specifically going for smart responce. I read that m.2 sould give better perfomance over sata III and i cannot spend 300 euros on a SAMSUNG 1TB SSD
  12. As I said I spent quite a while on videos (b.t.w. i love techQuickie) and reviews so I might I have a BIAS on the matter but.....Yes i think that while upgrading memory speed and storage i might give overclocking and SLI a try when the horse power will be needed
  13. Hello guys I am trying to get the best pc i can afford (wich is around 1000 euros) I spent really a great deal of my week-end trying to get more knoledge about PC components and I came across the component sheet I am sending as an attached files. I am a college student who has destroyed his previous laptop and who is sick and tired of carring top-edge equipment that will eventually fail. I am a occasional gamer but I tend to play to modern games who still require good graphics (f.y.i. the witcher 2 and 3 eluded to my nvidia 550M on my xps17 laptop) I edit videos and photos as an hobby and I could run math and physics symulations in my field studies. Do you think I chose the right components at my first try? All the help is appriciated. P.S. (How well would you grade my english? I am from Italy and I tend to exercise a lot on my english so I would love to have an output on this thing as well) Hope to here from you soon Davide Lamberti
