  1. That brushed metal look looks great and finally a laptop with a great speakers without some marketing BS... Great all around laptop in my opinion
  2. I meant I sent it in for RMA and now the problem is solved when the new drive arrived... I suggenst anybody facing the same problem get an exchange
  3. I contacted WD already and their customer service and they asked me to RMA the drive for an exchange... The new drive is working after manually downloading the drivers again from their support site....
  4. Hi guys, just bought a new portable hard disk for my laptop. To be specific I bought the Western Digital My Passport Ultra 2TB. The drive was bought at the store and not online... just in case any of you were wondering... Here's the problem, the first time i plugged it in, it worked perfectly, but as it was late at night, i unplugged it and went to sleep. Today, i plugged it in the drive spins but beeps repeatedly for about a minute or so then it gets detected in the device list but no drive lettering.. tried all the ports usb 2 and usb 3, checked all the drivers but still nothing... the only thing i get is those beeps that come from the hard drive and not the laptop and it wasn't a mechanical noise, the sound was definately electrical. Also if it helps, when i tried to repartition/ reformat the drive in disk manager, i can't do c*ap because anything i try to do basically ends up with a pop up saying that it can't do it due to a fatal hardware error... Also it does not work on the desktop... Same issues.. Anybody have any solutions or suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.. sorry no screenshots or more details... currently at work on ipad mini
  5. Damn thats a nice phone.... Would gladly trade up my M7 for that...

  9. "Panasonic has announced a new line of micro SDHC memory card with 'six-proof' properties; the new cards are waterproof, possess static electrical resistance, magnetic resistance, X-ray resistance and heat resistance. The new cards also have a 'fuse' function which protect them from generating heat and fire if the micro SDHC memory card somehow overheats. The four new cards use MLC (multi-level cell) NAND flash memory chips, and with the new UHS-I (Ultra High Speed-I) standard, boast a top read speed of 45 MB/s, with a top writing speed of 25 MB/s. Compared to the SDXC format, SDHC cards can support up to 32GB of memory, compared to 2TB for SDXC memory cards. The new 'six-proof' micro SDHC cards from Panasonic have an official availability date of July 13th, 2013." link: http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/tech-news-panasonic-announces-waterproof-magnetic-heat-resistant-micro-sdhc-memory-cards my view: this would only be relevant for the outdoor people or extreme user or frequent traveller... 1)outdoor people: - outdoor adventurist would need a card like this if they are constantly in a wet environment or in the sea. 2)extreme user - if people used their memory card where it would heat up to the point that the card "fused", this would be the card for them 3)frequent traveller -if you're a frequent traveller and worried that your data in the SD card in your laptop or camera becomes corrupted than this would protect it against the x-ray scanner in the airport.. :D
  10. "The Samsung Galaxy S4 might come with a large number of new features, but it seems that one of the new features contains a serious smishing (SMS phishing) flaw. Samsung's "cloud backup" feature was found to be improperly secured, and can exploited by malicious software to send fraudulent or fake SMS messages while pretending to be the identify of any contact or organization, without the owner of the phone realizing. This exploit was discovered by Chinese Internet security firm Qihoo. According to Qihoo, Samsung has already been notified of this issue, and is already in the process of fixing the issue. Qihoo also added that users can avoid being exploited by this vulnerability by turning off the "cloud backup" feature when it's not being used. A temporary fix has also been made by Qihoo 360, and can be deactivated once the security flaw has been patched. Current Samsung Galaxy S4 users of Qihoo's latest Android app are protected against this exploit. " Link: http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/tech-news-serious-smishing-vulnerability-discovered-samsung-galaxy-s4 my take: Samsung has been notified and is going to fix the problem... how will this affect their reputation? i don't know but just satisfied i chosed the HTC One over Sammy's S4. It's great that samsung is going to fix this problem as this can seriously affect their users. most probably it would be fix through over-the-air firmware update.
  11. hi there, so my last post was an accidental duplicate... but this time i have checked that this is the first post on this. "Project Shield, the handheld gaming system from NVIDIA, has been delayed until July. This is due to a mechanical failure of a third-party component on the device. This development was revealed in a blog post by Mr. Jason Paul, who is the project manager of Project Shield. The mechanical failure of the component on Project Shield was uncovered during its final quality-assurance testing. The device was actually slated for launch on 27 June; however, the company has made the difficult decision to delay it until July. Its exact shipping date hasn't been finalized. In the meantime, do check out our hands-on experience with the gaming device here when it was first unveiled at CES this year. (Source: NVIDIA via TechCrunch)" link: http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/tech-news-nvidias-project-shield-delayed-until-july my input: i think that it is better that they delay it and come out with a better product than they release a faulty product, anyway it's nvidia so we should trust them...
  12. well, that was my bad. sorry, i didn't watch the video. i only read the user's writing, stating that there was a bug...
  13. IMHO.. that post show a bug.. but this new post shows that AsRock is supporting OC-ing on their non-Z boards..
  14. "ASRock has announced its new Non-Z OC feature that will allow owners of H87 and B85 boards, the option of overclocking their unlocked 4th generation Intel Core processors. The H87 and B85 boards don't have official support for CPU overclocking. The ASRock UEFI BIOS utility that supports the new Non-Z OC feature, allowing owners of H87 and B85 boards to overclock their unlocked 4th generation Intel Core chips. The UEFI BIOS utility from ASRock supports the Non-Z OC feature; the company has also beefed up the voltage regulator module of its Fatal1ty H87 Performance motherboard. With eight phases of CPU power circuitry to ensure stable power delivery, users are able to make use the new BIOS feature to boost the CPU frequency of their unlocked processors. Besides the Fatal1ty H87 Performance, ASRock has stated the Non-Z OC feature will make its way to other H87 and B85 boards. As a disclaimer, ASRock issued the usual warnings about the dangers of CPU overclocking. They also claim that the Non-Z OC feature is tied to the Intel 8-series chipset, and its availability in the future isn't guaranteed. Hence, this points to the possibility of a bug in both H87 and B85 chipsets, allowing for CPU Ratio overclocking. ASRock seems to have just capitalized on the bug's existence to push out their Non-Z OC feature." (Source: ASRock) Link: http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/tech-news-asrock-announces-non-z-oc-feature-extends-oc-capabilities-h87-and-b85-boards My Input: it is great that asrock is supporting OC on their non-z87 boards but how well it can it do? because it is not natively supported on the chipset... what is your take on this? :D
