  1. i think the nuc would be great for a portable pc that can be put almost anywhere. That would be awesome.
  2. I wanted to correct what I said earlier about the 750ti being better. When I was originally reading this post I read it wrong and was thinking r7 260. Obviously if you can find a nice r9 270 or 270x that would be much better for the price.
  3. like superpug says run your task manager and see what your cpu is using. likewise you can download hwinfo and rivatuner that will display your info ingame so you know exactly what the games are pulling from your cpu cores and your gpu. Search on youtube for "how to find your computer bottleneck". there are a couple good videos on there. but not many.
  4. if $150 is your price range I would go with a 750ti. you'll get better performance out of it than with a 270
  5. I agree the gtx980 would be overkill. I must say though when my system was built years ago it had 2 EVGA 8800GTX in SLI that cost $620 a piece when they were new and now they are not worth $20 a piece. So why buy the biggest baddest GPU at the time when it will outdate your system before anything else does. Seems like a waste of money. The Asus GTX750 was a cheap buy at microcenter and my first self contribution to the machine besides the case when I bought it from someone. I now wish I would have spent more money on a better card but didn't know if it would handle it and bottleneck the gpu since it was so old. That's why I'm saying it's an overused term. Just because you have an older system doesn't mean it will bottleneck a newer graphics card.
  6. the fact that my cpu is more than keeping up with my graphics card instead of running at the same speed just means that I would like to upgrade it higher knowing that my cpu will handle it
  7. I think going with an X99 build if you have the money would be a good investment. Puts you inline with the next things from intel as well as the new ddr4. I mean you could save money by doing a 1150 (Z87) build but it will be outdated in a few years and if you can afford the latest and greatest I say go for it.
  8. I think it's funny how my old system can still keep up with and outperform a new graphics card. Here is my system and some results. Asus CrossHair AM2/AM2+ motherboard 4x1GB OCZ DDR2 800mhz Ram Amd Phenom 9650 OC to 2.64 Ghz OCZ Z series 750 modular power supply Asus GTX 750 PHOC 1GB Now as I was saying when playing games like Farcry 3, Battlefield 4, Bioshock Infinate I am getting decent framerates at higher settings usually around 30-40 for FC3, BF4, and 40-60 on Bioshock. But my GPU usage is rendering 99% while my cpu usage is usually only around 50-60%. I hear so much about bottlenecking from cpu only a couple generations old but mine is from 6-7 yrs ago and still performs enough for me to upgrade to a beastly card. I must say I'm not happy with the graphics as I would like more FPS closer to 60+ average but I am just surprised that people say their cpu is holding back their gpu when my old cpu quad core is still keeping up. Just wondering your guys opinions or experiences if anyone has tried doing this with similar results or the opposite.
  9. I was able to overclock my phenom 9650 to 2.65 Ghz and is rock solid stable. I did get it to 2.78 but when playing battlefield 4 the system would crash. Thanks for the replys.
  10. I know that my cpu and board is old but unfortunately I haven't found to much on overclocking my cpu with my motherboard. Here is my system specs: Phenom 9650 (non black edition) 4 GB DDR2 800 (2 1GB OCZ Platinum, 2 1GB OCZ Gold) Asus GTX 750 1GB OC OCZ ZT 750W modular power supply Asus Crosshair I AM2+ motherboard Gigabyte Cpu fan cooler. Thermaltake V3 Red/Black mid tower multiple HDD (will fix this when I get new system) I can play most games just fine with the newest being battlefield 4. I will be getting Farcry 4 next month and I am hoping with a little push my system will get me by till I can buy my new system. Any help on the settings for FSB, HT settings, memory settings would be appreciated. Thanks.
