  1. I just got this corsair 460x and a corsair h105 water cooler and the first thing I've noticed after installing it was... WOW is it loud! Even in idle it's pretty loud, uncomfortably loud I would say. When I open a program, say photoshop, the coolers (not sure which ones, I'm guessing the CPU ones) take off for a few seconds, it seems too extreme for me, doesn't seem normal. When playing a game like BF1, it's kinda the same as in idle, not much difference, maybe 20% or so. But stil, it's very uncomfortable! I was thinking it will be quiter than my old no name case and cooler, is this normal? I installed the case just like presented in the installation guide, read some forums as well so the system is correctly setup I would say. Even opening a Facebook tab in chrome makes the fans go to 60% for a couple of seconds, very very annoying. My current specs: Maximus VIII Ranger, 16 GB DDR4, i7-6700k (not OCd), Corsair cs650m PSU, 1070 G1. Again, this is not what I was expecting, I thought it would be quiet but it's extremely loud and distracting. Just browsing the web and the fans go up and down sometimes. Isn't there a way to set them all on silent mode or anything? In bios every fan is set to standard in fan control dashboard. Please help, thanks!
  2. So I'm looking to get a new video card for my system. I've been slowly adding to my PC and now I'm ready to upgrade my GPU from a 2gb 770. My specs are: i5 3550k @ 3700 16 gb ddr3 @1600 3x240 SSD kingstone v300/ssdnow Corsair CS650M PS ASUS P8H77-V LE 29 inch ultrawide IPS LG monitor @ 60hz (2560x1080) Giving these specs and this monitor, would a 1070@8gb be an overkill? The 1060 6 gb is quite cheaper where I live, 30% cheaper or so. I'm not sure which one to get... I just want to play on high settings 2560x1080, constant 60 fps. (The Witcher, BF1, GTAV, etc.) Any suggestions?
  3. Funny thing, I also saw the ridiculous video card offers from WowDiscounts on Amazon.co.uk. I first thought it was a once in a lifetime sale or something so I immediately ordered a 1080 Founders edition for 276 pounds (from 640 pounds - LINK). The delivery should take place on the 8th-10th of this month. I so hope this is legit! Also, two of my friends ordered two other 1080s at similar prices ~300 pounds. One of my friends was on the phone with Amazon and they said that if you ordered and received a confirmation that it's legit. If anything goes bad, they will refund the money. There's this text to consider as well: Amazon UK Policy "We want you to buy with confidence anytime you make a purchase on the Amazon.co.uk website or use Amazon Payments; that's why we guarantee purchases from third-party sellers when payment is made via the Amazon.co.uk website or when you use Amazon Payments for qualified purchases on third-party websites. The condition of the item you buy and its timely delivery are guaranteed under the Amazon A-to-z Guarantee." It seems ridiculous for Amazon to let its users fall into traps like these. They will definitely fix this issue or refund your money back. *Edit - Here's the confirmation:
  4. I just tried running GTAV in borderless window mode and its worst, the flickering is more intense and visual. EDIT I forgot to mention my friend just bought a brand new PC similar to mine with a brand new benq 1080p LED 22'' monitor and he has the exact same problem. His monitor is also hooked up via VGA>DVI-I port. It may just be the VGA all together, he's now on his way to buy a HDMI cable to replace the current VGA connection, and we'll see if he will still have the issue, unfortunately, I don't have any other ports except for the VGA one on my monitor... Second EDIT Solved, seems like the problem is the power outlet. I tried hooking the monitor alone to a different power outlet and the flickering stopped. Looks like the power supply is more demanding and drains more power from the wall... Thats why the monitor does that, I'm not sure if this is normal, probably not.
  5. Hello everyone. I've got this weird problem with my monitor. It's an 'old' monitor but it still holds up (up to this point it seems). After I upgraded my motherboard recently (to an Asus P8H77-V LE) and the PSU (to a Corsair CS 650M) I'm having some issues with my VGA LG 22 inch monitor (1920x1080). I had this monitor for about 5-6 years, never had any problems with it. The issue is whenever I enter a game (BF4, GTAV, etc) the monitor starts to flicker like an old TV would if there is any Interference of some sort... if that makes sense. The flicker is horizontal and blinks real fast, it's very noticeable, you can't really play these games like this... The thing is, if I turn on the Vsync, it gets way better but still noticeable. If I alt-tab the game the interference is still present on desktop, internet browser etc. Only after I exit the game completely the interference stops. It's not the video card (at least the HDMI port) because I have an LED TV Philips (1920x1080) 37 Inch via the HDMI port which looks Cristal clear while the monitors is flickering like hell. The LG monitor is hooked up via the DVI-I port with a VGA to DVI-I adapter. I know its ancient and analog and I should change it... but till then, is there any solution to this? In screen resolution options, the monitor is set tu 60hz, as well in BF4 and GTAV. I never had this problem before I upgraded the motherboard and the PSU. Any ideas? My rig: Intel Core i5 3550 @ 3.30GHz 8.00GB @ 1600 ddr3 Asus P8H77-V LE Motherboard GeForce GTX 770 @ 2gb Corsair CS 650M Power supply Win7 sp1
  6. Hey, thanks for your reply. My power supply is a: Sirtec HP-600-G12S, 600W. I tried checking the Event Viewer tool but all I can see is the critical errors: 'Kernel-Power' which dates to when I forced my PC to shut down (After the crash). So I can't see anything in there. My PC just froze about an hour ago at 6:13 PM (Romanian time) and when I checked my phone, it was 6:24, meaning the PC froze at 6:13. In the Event Viewer, I can't find any errors or anything that dates to 6:13, only to 6:24 when I forced my PC to shut down. Is this a crappy Power supply? 600W it says... Could my USB problem come from the power supply as well?
  7. Hey there! So I've been having this extremely frustrating issue with my PC for the last month or so. Every now and then when my PC goes in idle mode, when I try to click the mouse or the keyboard, nothing happens. The PC freezes altogether. I tried ctrl+alt+del and everything, but I can't seem to shake this freeze in any way but shut down my computer and turn it back on (from the button). I never got this problem before the last month, I don't know what happened. Like I said, these freezes occur when my computer goes to sleep, but it has happened to freeze right when I was browsing Chrome, playing a game, etc. a few times. When I started to get these freezes I was on windows 7 and I haven't had my OS installed in three years, so I thought it definitely has something to do with that. I installed Windows 10, installed all the drivers and then a day later I started getting these freezes again. I want to mention that I've been also having some issues with my USB for a long time. I can't enter bios with my USB keyboard, I have to plug it in right after the beep when you start the computer to get into the BIOS. I ran software tests, like the windows memory diagnostic, Speccy, afterburner but everything seems ok, every component is way below 50 degrees, something like 35 right after this happens (ssd, cpu, gpu, etc). As suggested on problems like these, I also tried resetting the bios but it didn't work. Here's my config: OS is installed on a Kingstone v300 120gb i5 3550k running at standard speed (3,3) *another Kingstone v300 but this one at 240gb *another 1TB Seagate HDD at 7200 Gigabyte P67-DS3-B3 (Socket 1155) MB GTX 770 a 2gb 600W power supply Corsair 8GB ddr3 at 1600 (dual channel) So these are the facts, I'm not sure if I missed anything, but if you have any questions, please ask away. I'm dying to fix this annoying issue... P.S. - After running some tests I thought it was the motherboard, could it be, should I change it? Or is it something with my power supply? Edit: I always used an Antivirus (AVG) I don't have any viruses on my system.
  8. Found this satire article on reddit just now http://www.razzem.com/tech-science/2015/12/01/man-sells-house-buys-supercomputer-play-video-games/
  9. I just tried of getting in the bios but my keyboard won't respond even if I pull out the other usb cables... seems like sometimes the keyboard is working and sometimes not, I have to change the USB port to get it working one time out of 10 tires...
  10. Hey there community, first of all I want to say I watch Linus' youtube channel since I can't even remember but I never registered to this fine forum. Anyway, its good to be here! So the thing is, exactly two years ago I bought this PC: (I put it all together and choose the components on my own, not a pro at doing this so now I have to fix what I've done wrong...) CPU i5 3550 ivy Video Card ATI HD7870@2gb Memory Corsair Red Vengeance kit 2x4gb@1600 HDD 1 TB HDD seagate barracuda @7200 Motherboard z77-d3h Gigabyte Power Supply Sirtec 600W G12S (which I understand is not very good...) I mainly built this PC for gaming but also for music production programs, photoshop etc. Since then I added a few components to this rig: My video card broke down and had to replace it so I upgraded to a GTX 770 @2gb Gigabyte which is performing really good. I also got a kingstone v300 SSDNow 120gb so I made it my default C:/ partition and installed windows/programs etc on it. Everything was working fine at this point since a few days ago when I got a brand new SSD, another kingstone v300 but this time a 240gb one (I got this one for a gaming only partition for games like BF4, Skyrim+mods so they'll load more quickly etc). I installed it normally and my computer wouldnt start. I disconnected the 240 SSD and my PC started again. I connected it back again and disconnected the DVD-RW and the PC started this time so I think it has something to do with the power supply? Not enough juice? Also another issue I have is, when I restart my PC, in bios my keyboard won't work (its a razer USB keyboard - deathstalker). It will only work if I disconnected ALL usb cables in my PC except for the mouse and keyboard. I have plugged into my usb ports: a usb audio interface (m-audio c400), microsoft xbox wireless controller receiver, logitech unifying receiver and a few usb data cables for my various gadgets (about 3 cables). Does this also have something to do with the power supply being too weak for the overall system, or maybe its the motherboard? Since I upgraded to the 770 GTX I don't have enough space on my motherboard to add another 8 GB of ram (I really need it, when I'm playing games and have a few programs, chrome etc opened in Task Manager > Performance > Memory Its hazard, I get 7.something gb usage, 100mb free or so... Since I got the 240gb SSD I installed BF3 and BF4 on it. So when I'm playing I get 60 fps locked in both games, it runs really good but from time to time (rarely) I get stutter spikes for a fraction of a second, could this be because of the ram and not the SSD/PC? Sometimes when I'm playing high end games like these I get the "change color scheme, your pc is underpressure or whatever" message from windows when I alt-tab, that sounds like not enough ram to me but I don't know for sure. The bottom line is: I want fix and add new things to my pc so I wanna change my motherboard with a larger one so the memory slots are separated and away from the pci-express so I can add another 8gb. Also on my current one I only have 2 sata-3 slots, maybe I'll add more ssd in the future so it has to have 3 or 4 sata_3 slots. Oh and it has to be with a 1155 cpu socket. SLI/corssfire is not necessary as I only use single slot solution for video. If the usb-keyboard not working problem is a motherboard issue then I will get rid of that with the new motherboard. New power supply - Do you guys think I should get a new one? If yes, which one, I want something a bit more powerful as I will add more things inside my PC like SSD's or HDD's. I also want to get a new PC Case as this one is pretty awful... I was thinking of something from corsair? Let me know what do you have in mind and if you have any other suggestions, thanks so much for putting up with my PC stories...
