  1. nope, i don't ever overclock anything, fried a GTX 560 like that lol, i've been on my 1080ti for a day, not that long but i haven't had anything strange happen, immediatly got a blackscreen when i plugged my 3090 into another computer tho (might be from windows doing stuff and wondering where did the gpu go, might be the card doing whatever, i'm not sure, but i don't really trust the card anymore considering i only have 4 months of warranty left i'd rather just send it back, hoping they don't just go "it works" and send it right back lol well i've already taken it out, and artifacts really aren't that common, they still happen, with no reason, i don't recall ever having them while gaming at full load for hours, rtx on etc etc, but i agree i could have tried to underclock the memory, well thanks guys for your support in those scary times, and wish me luck with nvidia's rma process aha
  2. What kills me is that it's completly random, yesterday i got 2 blackscreens in a row for no apparent reason, the second one never recovered, switching to motherboard output didn't display anything (but i don't think you can do that without enabling the intel apu iirc), and then nothing weird happend since, i started the rma process with nvidia but i'm afraid they'll just plug it in at their place and be like "it works, here's ur card back bb" not really, some are older monitors with display port adapters, one is very recent, but how could a cable induce all of that, at random, my pc doesn't move and neither do the cables, i'm honestly thinking driver issue from the black screens with the freeze right before, drivers could theorically mess up the rendering and cause artifacting?, but again how would it persist through multiple installs and driver updates (always with DDU) reeeee why can't it just work lmao
  3. oh UPDATE: my pc just did the screen blink, being my whole pc stops responding for a few seconds, black screens for a second and comes back, i decided to see what does shadowplay see , it only recorded the past 15 seconds, being the crash, here's what the video file looks like, (shadow play sucks anyway, never recording the screen i want lmao) Desktop 2022.07.22 - 23.35.55.03.DVR.mp4 i actually remember having shadow play instant replays looking like this before with this card, it was pretty rare though
  4. Hi, i've had it for about a year and a half, i got random visual lags starting from.. mhh 6 months ago? im not really sure, sometimes i'd get black screens out of nowhere for a few seconds, then it would go back to normal, some open gl chrome apps would give me "lost opel gl context" message, i used to get a windows notification of something going wrong with the nvidia drivers, haven't had notification in a while, but still rarely got black screens out of nowhere. sometimes i'd get visual glitches, i shrugged it off to windows being dumb because i had some issues at times, steam being laggy, so i didn't really care, my main screen takes a while to look normal when i boot up my pc when it's cold, i get a bunch of vertical lines and blinking, it goes away after a while, i shrugged it off to the screen being bad, but today.. chilling, the pc feels weird, and there's some artifacts going on, they kinda immediatly go away as i look at them, i decide to play some bo3 zombies, i immediatly get a shitton of artifacts on my 2 other screens, nothing weird on bo3 tho, i get to play for about a minute before the screen flickers black, goes back to normal for a few seconds, then immediatly flickers again, bunch of freezing happening, game alt tabs itself most likely coming from windows, i wait a little, then leave the game, the whole computer has microfreezes every 3-4 seconds, chrome and discord both have artifacts on them the likes of those: that's too much, i decide to contact the support of the store i bought it at, it's still under legal warranty, i type my message etc, then i decide to check the prices of gpu coz it's been a while, i shouldn't have done that, everything turned weird and the right screen was just flickering, kinda scary VID_20220722_222146.mp4 the artifacts were concealed to the window it was on, no matter where i dragged it on the screens, same on those very mild ones on the first picture, they stayed where they were IN the window so i guess i'll return it anyway but i'd still like to know what u guys think about it? specs: i7 9700k 32gb of ram, a mix of 2x8gb of ripjaws v (that i got around 2016) and 2x8gb of gskill sticks (around october 2020, one month before getting the 3090) founder's edition 3090 rog thor 1300w psu some pretty recent intel nvme ssd where windows is installed, windows is also a fresh install, drivers are almost the latest one, updating them didn't do anything the past few times i've gotten artifacts like these (tho it was MUCH more mild, basically like on the first picture), rebooting it fixed it, i'm mad that i didn't try to unplug my monitors and put them on the motherboard, it doesn't happen often enough that i can just try things, but i'd like to be sure it's a gpu issue and not actually something else lol since it's been, as i said, happening very rarely, but still sometimes, so far i've had driver changes and windows reinstalls, those didn't fix it, none of my gear is overclocked, i have no issues performance wise in games in general (here's a recent passmark test https://www.passmark.com/baselines/V10/display.php?id=151786525802 ) your input is appreciated!
  5. Hey, looks like there's a lot of topics like this here ! So I currently have a Iiyama ProLite E2407HDS, 1080p 60Hz and an Acer X223 as a side monitor 1650*1050, I haven't experienced anything else screen wise, I've seen worse, but never better. I've been looking to upgrade, to no less than 27" 2560x1440 144hz, 1ms, but I'm lost, looking at different reviews of different monitors, there's a few good reviews, everything is great, and that one guy or two guys that's got "the very well known problem" with the monitor, then the people complaning about IPS glow, then people complaning about the colors/profiles/having to change settings for everygame otherwise it looks bad, then people complaning about color banding, then people complaning about ghosting, and lastly some dude saying because it's curved, you can't do straight lines as easily in photo editing, then there's some stuff about HDR being shit even on HDR 600 screens, the borderless not actually being borderless because of unused space on the screen, oh my fdjhif god, doing my own research made me aware of TN = bad colors (even though my screens are TN and old asf and they seem fine) cheap low latency, VA = good all around but ghosting (though the sources say that VA weren't below 5ms, which isn't the case?) and IPS = great but ips glow and how much depends on luck (which is a big no-no I'm not risking it, already scared of dead pixels as is) but for the screens themselves, I can't seem to get definitive answers All of this is kinda making me want to give up since nothing seems to be good, and ~400€ is not a small investment, also that, so far, my screens have been good enough, but I've seen that good enough can be exponentially better when I changed audio gear I've had eyes on: Samsung C27HG70QQU FreeSync 2 (curved, 144hz, 1ms, QHD, and VA, HDR 600 (literally never seen anything HDR related in my life) Asus TUF VG27BQ Adaptive Sync (165hz, 0.4ms, QHD and TN) MSI Optix MAG271CQR Adaptive Sync (curved, 144hz, 1ms, QHD, and VA) MSI Optix MPG27CQ Adaptive Sync (curved, 144hz, 1ms, QHD, and VA) Maybe iiyama G-MASTER GB2760QSU-B1 (144hz, 1ms, QHD, and TN) The two MSI look the same except for leds on the front and one HDMI port more, I have enough space for the huge ass samsung I have a 1080Ti and 9700k, the vive gives them a challenge, but my current screen, not so much You guys are probably more up to date than me on this subject so I ask for your help to choose something, (or not choose anything and change when they break (if they ever break)) Thanks
  6. As a non-audiophile, I have an Asus ROG STRIX Z390-H Gaming, and I just recived my HD 6XX, they sound amazing, you can really hear the highs and all that, especially on electronic/higher pitched music, but really any kind of music stands out more, provided you have a good quality sound file, you hear more details, (I tried my old eurobeat collection, which has a variable 120-150kbps, it sound the exact same as my old headset, now the constant 224kbps tracks have a real difference) and I don't have an AMP, just onboard audio. Then again, you need to see if you have interferences, I had slight buzzing on my previous headset (Roccat Kave Solid 5.1) and sometimes pops, I don't seem to have them as much here, or at least I don't notice them It is quieter, and by that I mean you need to up the volume in windows and the music player to get what you had before. Even though I had a channel mixer addon to upmix since my previous headset was real 5.1, and only games use all 6 speakers, and in that addon I upped the volume of individual channels by a fair bit so I don't know. But what I can tell you, is that except if you listen REALLY loudly to your music/games, it's fine. (edit: also make sure that your tracks aren't really quiet, if they are you 100% need to up the gain on them) You probably can benefit from an AMP/DAC, maybe you get more/louder details, I might buy one eventually too, I need to see if I can plug them in my parent's Sony home theater to try it out, it must have a good AMP/DAC lol.
  7. On mass drop the 6XX is at 200€. This is my opinion, but if you're planning on keeping for a long time what you're buying, might as well spend a little more and get the better performer, now if you really can't spend/justify spending 70 more, well I can't blame you. Obviously I'm going with what others are saying I have no idea how they perform at all, I bought the 6XX yesterday, but apparently it's basically the best in price to quality and all that.
  8. I got it with my motherboard, and have no plans of customizing cables, so just ask me if you need it. First person to tell me what 10+10 is gets it lmao.
  9. Technically you could say I'm getting rid of my stuff, I'm selling it 350€ because I feel like in 2-3 years if I can even get 200 for it, that is if I manage to sell it, so I'd rather do that, I know it works it won't fail on her, buying used is nice but you don't know what the previous guy did, casual gaming ? nothing ? EXTREME OVERCLOCKS NITROGEN NUCLEAR GAMER ? So that's what I thought it's a bit overkill lol, while you don't really feel 150€ when spending that much, getting the i9 means I'd have to spend another 100-130€ to get another cooler, and I can only fit a 240mm in my case which is probably the strict minimum and I'd rather have 360, since even 120 isn't enough, so fuck that idea. I do feel like I'm not having the performance of a 980 in VR at least from what other people are saying, which might be lies for all I know, to get that e-penis bigger, like some guy on nvidia's facebook page saying his 770 can game in ultra settings 60fps in 7800*1000 or something, and that rtx cards suck, but my benchmarks are always on the higher end of 980 performance, so I don't know lol. The 9700k looks pretty good from what I looked up, does it need a bigger cooler or will I be fine with mine ?
  10. Hey guys, so I might sell my current CPU GPU mobo so that my niece can get the sweet sweet PCMR feels, I have an i5 6600k, not overclocked, since I bought a stupid B150 MSI Gaming M3 that I didn't bother to research the differences between B150 and Z170, and a 980 from MSI. I have 16gb of ram and a corsair CX750-M. So I've been thinking about getting an i9 9900k, some 200€ mobo, and a 1080ti. Am I going to get a noticable difference in everything, flat games, VR games, video/photo editing, general windows stuff ? considering that's 1500€ on the table, I'd like to have a good reason to spend that much, other than me wanting it lol. Also, I have a Cooler Master Seidon 120v V1, with a Noctua NF-F12, is it enough for cooling, considering it gets pretty hot ? And finally, what if I just get a 1080ti ? Because I feel like a 6600k might be a bottleneck, especially in VR, but if it's enough I'll just get my niece a Ryzen 2600 with my 980 and call it a day. Thanks for your guidance.
  11. That's what i thought, but since i don't have a graphics cards anymore (sold my 7990 in a fucking day, it sell way faster than i anticipated) i'm running the HD Graphics 530 master race, so i can't really wait around too much you see. I think i'll go 980, i mean power consumtion and heat can't beat a 7990 ahah.
  12. Hey guys, so like 99% of todays topic, i have a simple question. I can get a RX 480 for 260€ (in france) or i can get a used 980 for 280€. Next week i'll go get my HTC Vive, so i need that sweet 90fps. What card would you recommend more ? I think the choice is obvious (980) but having advice is always good.
  13. Yep exactly, it shows 2 HD 7900 Series. When a game doesn't work with Crossfire, it's always gonna use one gpu, or both but it will end up being like 50/50,40/60, you get it. And i heard that vr games don't even start/blackscreen on multi gpu setup. I guess that's just how it performs i guess, since both gpus are used at 99%
  14. Hey, So i was planning on getting a HTC Vive, because i don't need it. So way back i did the SteamVR thingy, got a score a 6.7 average 110-120 fps which is VR-Ready, BUT, i've been reading on reddit, that SLI/Crossfire is doesn't work with VR games, or at least it's not supported yet, so I searched a little, and found out that a 7970 (one of the 2 gpus inside a 7990) performs REAAAALY bad, like bad bad, something along the lines of a score of 1.2, 50% frames below 90fps, and bad quality. So now I don't know if i should get one, because i don't really want to buy a 1070 or rx480 right now, since for basic gaming it's way more than enough at 1080p (even though it would be nice temperature wise) What do you guys think ? Thanks.
