what do you mean by "upgraded crimper"? honestly got no idea what to actually get outside of a network toolkit from a local pc shop
-
local shop called bunnings has that, does looks pretty nice, gives me some ideas on how to make the ethernet runs, now just gotta get some tools to make the right length cables
-
ill probably go to a local hardware store and get some hooks to keep it tidy and locked in placed
-
that is true gigabit would probably be enough for me, will make another layout on the ubiquiti designer and then price things out again, once i get the server setup itll be used for running backups for my computer, phone, parents phone and laptop, friends devices and streaming over the network if i can figure it out, was gonna go for 2.5g for future proofness and just internal speed mainly yup, run a cable along the baseboard and hopefully make it look neat, do want to drill holes just to make things look somewhat neater but most likely wont be able to sadly
-
would get something like that but want something small and im trying to avoid running many cables through the house since im in a rental and cant drill holes into the walls
-
one switch will be with the UCG fiber for the AP(probably could get something smaller but there isnt a smaller 2.5G POE switch) and the other switch will be at the other end of the house in my room for its AP and to connect my computer and server once i get around to making one
-
wasnt sure on how to title this, after researching and getting advice i plan on buying this ubiquiti setup without the NVR and security cameras at first and adding them in later, i plan on adding a grandstream analog telephone adaptor(would have preferred to get the ubiquiti version but sadly it isnt sold in australia) i plan on using the DeskPi Rackmate to house the UCG-Fiber, one of the USW-Flex and the ATA near the NBN/internet box and putting the other USW-Flex in my room on the other side of the house for the other AP and to use for future projects such as a server current ISP speeds are 750/50Mbps which is fine for me at the moment and even thinking of going down to 500/50Mbps to save some money is there anything you would change or any advice or tips on this setup? thanks in advance EDIT: main goal of this is to overhaul my current network layout to something better, gigabit speeds is probably good enough for me and thought this will be somewhat futureproof in the long run, the reasoning behind 2 switches is that one will be near the UCG and the other will be at the other end of my house in my room so i can connect the AP, my computer and future server plus anything else i can think of, if i go with the UCG-fiber or the UCG-max i have a samsung 500gb 970 EVO i can add if it needs storage for anything but thought that would only be the case if i use it as an NVR instead of getting a dedicated NVR box, currently working out a gigabit layout and see what the price difference will be before purchasing anything

what ubiquiti equipment should i buy? prefer small and energy efficient
Zohan2000 replied to Zohan2000's topic in Networking
i posted the same post onto ubiquitis forum and someone posted what they did for a family members house and i copied it as well as added to it and it looks pretty good i think? i have a 500gb samsung nvme drive i plan to put into the cloud gateway to save money on storage, the ATA should solve the issue with having a homephone, the flex switch will go to the other side of the house into my room where ill plug my computer in(if its safe to use a POE port for that, probably a stupid question but i honestly have no idea) that way ill have an AP at both ends of the house, a switch i can use for a future server for backups of everything and run a cable for the security camera(i hope i can go into the settings to only save footage if it detects movement) and if i want to add another security camera near the gateway ill have to buy a POE injector for it or a small POE switch and it looks like the cloud gateway and the ATA will fit into a deskpi rackmate 4U which ill need to buy an extra shelf and a patch panel for, any thoughts on this? -

The phone is connecting with an RJ11 cable but was wondering if a RJ11 to RJ45 cable would work since it is using VoIP and hoping I can use that cable and log in through the switch interface -

would prefer to get a bit more than that at first, the 2 switches and the 2 APs at least and something for the phone line -

knowing what to buy would be awesome, could at least buy the 2 APs and the first switch/router and the other unmanaged switch for my room and buy the security camera plus NVR at a later date and maybe find some very small device thats got a RJ45 to plug into the NBN box and a RJ11 port for the current homephone to use, least then ill have a starting point -

if theres another brand thats as good and use POE for the APs and cameras im all ears, mainly want to get the network under a better ecosystem and not have any drop outs from the range extender, thought the current one i bought i couldve connected with an ethernet cable to give it internet access but i didnt do another research into it -

If that's the case then I'll just have to save more or sell some things I've been meaning to see for ages once I know what I gotta buy -
