Hello LTT community,
As i was normally playing the PC shut down, first i thought it was just power blackout, but it came back on, but the PC would only try to turn on, but failed after 1 second and it repeated the procces, so i did the normal check-up what would cause this, unplugged the GPU from PCI-E and power and tried my spare GPU ( old from 2008 ) so put the 980ti back in and observed it after i tried to turn on the PC, and from the area where the 8 and 6 pin are beneath the backplace there was little amount of smoke coming from the PCB, so i took it off, examined the PCB itself and i have mostly no idea what i am looking at but seems like R is for resistor or some sort - i am including a picture what might've caused it.
If anyone can give me some more info or if it's repairable i would be greatful, and i am ready to give more info.
Thanks, Peter.
EDIT: The R005 is cracked and the R68 thingy has crack on it after further inspection.
