  1. I bought a monoprice crystal pro a few years ago, which I believe is a re-branded shimian Korean 1440p monitor. The other night it started flickering while it was playing a movie. I thought it might be a gpu or driver issue, but my other display was fine. I shut down the computer for a few minutes to see if it helped, but some noise started. coming out of the speakers. When I turned it back on, the monitor wouldn't turn on. It had no power to it to the point that even the power led on the display wouldn't light up. Any time it's plugged in, I get a clicking noise coming from the speakers.I read a few threads that said it can be caused by blown capacitors in the monitor, or in the power supply brick, but I took them apart and nothing in either shows visible signs of damage. Anyone have any experience with this?
  2. I ended up going with the naos 7000. The roccat click wheel hasn't worked for a while, so I figure I won't miss it anyway.
  3. I like Logitech, but they're not big enough. The mx master is almost big enough because of the height, but but quite. I just like the idea of a trackball size mouse in a regular mouse. I doubt there's anything available right now, I was just hoping someone knew about an upcoming one.
  4. My Roccat Kone+ has been a pain from day one, so I finally decided to ditch it. I'm trying to find a big mouse because a palm/fingertip grip is more comfortable, and I hate having my pinky and ring finger drag on the mouse pad. The Roccat spoiled me with the number of buttons, so I'm trying to find a large mouse with a tilt wheel. I had it between the Mionix Naos 7000 and Func ms3, but I waited too long to pull the trigger and Func got bought and discontinued the ms3. So the Naos seems to be the only quality mouse left in that size, but lacks the tilt wheel. So the question is if there are anymore quality mice in that size, or anything soon to be released in that size? I've been browsing online stores and tech sites and can't find much.
  5. I have a 2i2. It'll work as an input and external soundcard. So you can use all of the input and mic properties while getting all other audio from everything else in Windows simultaneously.
  6. It was a lot of messing with playback and recording devices. I had a bit of an audio mess, still kinda do. ASIO is great for audio, but is difficult to manage sometimes because of it taking exclusive control through one application. I got an essence stx a while ago for my sennheiser hd650, then used coax out on the stx to A schiit bifrost. Jriver media center runs well with ASIO, so I put it in. Then the 2i2 had it's own ASIO diver. So it was a lot of trial and error with drivers between hardware, and selecting default devices and disabling others in the sound panel. It was a pain, but well worth it. I can watch anything from movies to YouTube while a guitar is running cranked through amplitube, all into headphones so there are zero noise complaints. Once you get it dialed in, it's well worth owning.
  7. I have the 2i2. It has been pretty great so far, though getting everything tweaked to work perfectly took a little time. Latency wasn't too bad to start out, but I got it down to pretty much nothing. I finally got it worked out so I could even get the audio from amplitube working at the same time as the rest of the audio, so it's possible to play and watch a movie at the same time. Get a good quality cable for your guitar though, you'll pick up some noise.
  8. I've had my Westone 4r's for about 6 months now and love them. Westone just replaced them with a new series, so you might be able to pick some up somewhere on the cheap through clearance. They listed at $500, I got them from Amazon for $380 with shipping and tax.
  9. If you're looking for good quality recording, check out Focusrite. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005OZE9SA?pc_redir=1401273601&robot_redir=1 Not super cheap, but far from expensive. It'll give you 2 1/4" inputs that double as xlr so you can hook up a condenser mic if you want. With asio it'll get you zero latency and great quality. Also, check out amplitube 3 as well. Guitar rig was cool, but I felt like amplitube sounded better, and have options like controlling the signal chain.
  10. I've had my 4r's for a couple weeks now, and have no complaints yet. It's a good balanced sound. The bass definitely goes for quality over quantity, but still manages to not be lite on bass. A balanced armature will always be different than dynamics, but 4 balanced armatures is definitely a step up.
  11. It's true, the Bottlehead Crack is amazing. Unfortunately, there is a lot of time and energy going into a topic that is heavily subjective. Tubes do color sound, but if you like the color, then you made a good decision. I listened to an odac and a schiit bifrost, and ended up liking the bifrost better. Then I'll probably end up with an o2 next. I don't care if the different products match, I don't care if they look pretty, and I don't care if I get a facepalm emoticon. If it sounds good, then it's money well spent. Right now, I'm very happy with my HD650s. Next I have to work on my Westone 4r's.
  12. Cds tend to sound similar. Except for remasters, which are usually a bump in volume, maybe a slightly different mix. Finding a good record store is a huge help as you can more than likely sample. Buy used, sell, trade. Numerous ways. Shoot me a pm.
  13. Volume up, light off, and see which one makes you smile more. Better is a misused word. It's all about what's better to you, not what testing equipment says is better.
  14. Gotta respect the style. Your point is correct though. It served its purpose for a time, but is a step I should have skipped and gone straight to external hardware. Although, as far as issues or malfunctions, there have been none.
