the budget sits around 2000-2300$ officially. I'll notify you if it raises I did push it up a bit on this one because of the OS and Noctua fans aren't the cheapest but I think they're worth it

Thank you so much guys I'll look at the whole purchasing options when I get into my new home, And I'll be bringing an update to the part lists posted above soon (midterm sessions in college are what they are, so it might take longer than I'd like it to.) That updated list will exclusively contain x99 platform parts,I've pretty much made my mind about it. I might look around to building a slightly less powerful system using the x99 deluxe mobo from Asus, and bank on future upgrades for the system (since this will mainly be a computer for photoshop work, some video editing, gaming being a little bit less of a concern). That seperate build will be posted with the list update OH. AND. I'm also a big Fallout 3 person, and being forced to play it on my old potato of a shared home computer (5 year old prebuilt computer) since it's not supported by windows 8.1 on my laptop is a real bummer, and I was wondering if it was worth it to get Windows 7 as my OS or to just stick with windows 8, until windows 10 comes out (and pray for Bethesda to finally release Fallout 4)

I also noticed while looking around that my local shop doesn't have that great of a selection for mATX X99 mobos, do you (and anyone else) have some you recommend or just like in general ?

It has to be from there for now for a few reasons: - I like supporting my local shops (and this one is one of the few I know of in Montreal that's a decent computer store) - I'm moving soon, so ordering stuff online can be a hassle with address changes and such - Personally, I don't have much confidence in sending this much amount of money in parts through the mail. I don't have the steadiest incomes as of yet, so being able to asses that the product works before buying it is a big deal, since it saves time, and cuts off a bit stress and frustration out of my life (which is much needed right now) Even though, thanks a bunch for posting build Ideas They're all going into my little (more like ever-growing) Word document of computer build options, and will be taken into account.

First of all, Thanks And yes, I plan to put an ssd in the system a little later on, since the lists i have up there don't take cooling or peripherals into account (I have a seperate budget for peripherals), and so i need to rethink these a little bit, and maybe add a different list for a different size form factor mobo (they do cost less, and it's a pretty noticeable price difference), with adequate cooling (looking at AIO coolers for my cpu and noctua fans, mostly).

First Build This build will be my first build, and I'm estimating about 2000$ (Canadian) for this build (without peripherals). This build will be evenly used for gaming and video/photo editing. That's pretty nice still I just live with my mom and my little sister, and I'm starting my second year of college today and we don't have that much money to spare either (hell, we're selling the apartment we're living in right now cause it's too damn pricey, and we have to find a new home), so this system is all on me and I like it better this way. The only people I'll owe something to are the people who helped me out here, and that's the way it'll stay for quite a while

Yeah, I looked around and I see what you mean. I may not be as bothered about efficiency as other people. I live in in Montreal, Quebec, and thanks to the hydroelectric mecha that we have here, the power bill is a little cheaper than elsewhere. All in all, the more I look at this, the more I think I'll put a more efficient solution right now, and if ever I'll "need to upgrade" this system, I'll deal with the bigger psu then.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. And don't get the wrong idea, I'm not born into a rich family that has money as toilet paper. I'm just (more like damn lucky) to be in a mid class revenue family that can support me enough to allow me to put enough money away to afford something like this in a relatively long amount of time (around half to 3/4 of a year). I'm also coming around to giving a solid direction of what I want to do for a living, and I'm cutting off a lot of the various things to focus on more important things, such as pc enthusiasm, video editing/photoshop/photography, gaming and music ..... And very conveniently, none of those are cheap but hey, glory to multimedia!!!!!
