  1. I would love for the editors to make a slowed down edit of this: "Drunk Linus installs a CPU"
  2. Linus commented on YouTube: I don't usually comment, but as I really care for the quality of LTT, I feel I had to give my two cents about this video. I know right?! Someone on the internet giving his opinion? Amazing! I get that some people prefer an earlier release of a video than the best sound quality, and everyone is entitled to that opinion. Couple things bother me: 1) This is not a minor issue, but an unbearable issue. 2) Do you want to keep this video as-is in your YouTube archive, amongst all other reviews of this phone with good audio quality? 3) Did Linus not mention on a WAN show that he was done with embargos and would want to publish reviews in his own time, that is to say not when the manufacturer wants him to post it? What happened to that? 4) Backup mic. Not a backup lav mic, but a backup shotgun mic on channel two. Therefore I would have refilmed the video, even if that meant a delay. And yes, I know how painful that is, but I wouldn't want to have this in my professional archive. Again, my two cents. Still love you guys!
  3. Thank you much for your input brob, will look at the U14S. Will the D15 interfere that much as to make the first slot unusable? Sadly, the Samsung XP941 M.2 is not yet available here. Only one I can find over here is Crucials. My client currently has a K4000 in another system that is a couple of years old. Could it be advisable to put that into this new machine, and let the older one run on it's other GTX card, used then only for HD editing? Or is the K4000 slower compared to the K4200? -edit- To make clear, I'm not getting paid for this. I refered to him as client to keep it formal.
  4. 10 bit is a good point, though the person I'm composing this for will outsource serious color correction and grading work. But I will keep that in mind! Any other points?
  5. I have, however I would have to skimp on other parts to be able to fit those into the budget. Why would you opt for Quadro's? Just for reliability? 980 has loads of CUDA cores for a fraction of the price, it would theoretically even be possible to fit 2 more for way less than Quadro's..
  6. Hi LTT members! I would call myself "intermediate" at building systems. Would you mind assessing the following build for a 4K editing workstation? Will be editing using Premiere CC. I still opted to go for the WS board for reliability and PCI-e slot configuration. The board will fit in a Carbide 540. Couple of Q's: 1. 1 SSD for boot and 2 SSDs in RAID0 for active projects. Is it fast enough? 2. Will two 980s be enough for 4K RAW editing, especially multi-cam? 3. Is 1000W enough, or would you go for 1200W? Thanks very much!
  7. I first came to LTT for advice on building a system. I liked the content and have been watching for almost a year now. I'm not much of a commenter, but I do enjoy the videos and shows a lot. Thanks for your hard work Linus and team, keep it up!
  8. Because I like Sonys philosophy, but not their pricing And the skin is cool too!
