  1. I'd love the NEW Razer Blade 14. Partially so that I'd have a gaming laptop so that I could go visit my friends who live half way across the country now and have some LAN parties with them. And partially so that I could do some VR gaming with my Vive without having to worry about the cables, it'd be so cool to have a computer powerful enough to run the Vive that I could just wear on my back!
  2. I'd love to have the i7 5820K because it'd give me the reason and drive to upgrade my motherboard to one that I don't have loads of problems with and hopefully doesn't cause BSOD far more than it ever should. I would use it for gaming, and for editing videos for youtube.
  3. Thanks for the competition! My favourite item from the prize would be the Kuhler 1250 liquid cooler. Mostly because the heatsink that I'm currently using ended up being bigger than I expected (actually my motherboard ended up being smaller than I expected, but either way the heatsink is too big), so I've lost access to one of my PCI-E 16x slots for if I want to do SLI. And the other reason is that I've never done liquid cooling before, and it'd be pretty cool (har har) to try it out.
  4. Yea, it's £680 ish here (850 euros / $1127). But it is the only monitor of it's type pretty much =/ If you want something similar then you either have to wait probably quite a while for it or buy an overclocked monitor that won't perform as well. There's always a hell of a premium on the latest technology, personally I only usually pay the premium if it's a big enough (in my opinion) step up from what I already have, otherwise it's usually worth just waiting. The ROG SWIFT is a big step up from the monitor I'm currently using (in resolution, refresh rate and features), so I went for it. Just hoping that the "out of bounds" error that I've read the monitor has been having with GSync at 60FPS+ is fixed soon (it seems to be related to nvidia drivers from what I've heard) *crosses fingers*
  5. Are you sure you're looking at the right monitor? My searches for the ROG SWIFT and PG278Q both returned another ASUS monitor at the top of the search results on the USA version of Amazon (ASUS PB278Q at about $500). I couldn't find it at all on New Egg either. It's possible that my search fu is weak, but I also read in a few places that the ROG SWIFT won't be hitting the USA until the end of August or in September and that the price will be roughly $799. There's still a fairly large price difference but I imagine that a largeish chunk of that comes from a combination of transport costs and import tax. The rest is probably just because they feel that they can charge more due to the average person in countries where it's higher being able to afford more than they can in the USA or because their previous sales data shows that people in those countries are willing to spend more. The other possibility is that a lot of stores are currently selling them at a premium due to the high demand for the monitor and the low supply. It's possible that the price will drop a bit when they've not got backorders any more and the rate of selling them has dropped significantly.
  6. Waiting for my pre-order of this monitor. I didn't get it in early enough for the first wave of stock and the second wave comes in on the 15th (August), although I somehow doubt that I'll get one of that wave either. Slightly frustrated that they (scan.co.uk) won't even let me know what position in the queue I am considering how much it's cost me (and as they've taken the money already). On the bright side, at least I didn't pay as much for it as they're charging now, seems they put the price up when they realised how popular it was and how limited the stock was going to be. I'm told that the place I got it from is getting roughly 40 of them every 2 weeks as far as they know. I've been wanting a 1440p or 4k monitor with a 120+ Hz refresh rate for a few years now and was really excited when I first found out that someone was finally making one. It was still a tough choice between getting this monitor or getting a really nice 1440p/4k IPS screen, but I think there are just too many benefits to the ROG Swift to ignore. It wasn't a very tough choice between the ROG Swift and a 4k 60Hz screen though. I don't think 4k is necessarily worth it until the text scaling issue in Windows is fixed and graphics cards are powerful enough to easily handle somewhat demanding games at 60+ refresh rates on them without needing 2+ expensive cards in sli. Regardless, 144 FPS at 1440p will always be something nice to aim to hit without looking bad if it's not quite there, but not hitting around 40+ FPS at 4k will just not be a good experience imo. I'd rather have a good experience (60FPS 1440p) with the possibility of a great experience (144FPS 1440p) than a poor experience (30FPS 4k) with the possibility of a good experience (60FPS 4k). I definitely wouldn't want to get a 4k monitor without GSync (Or FreeSync eventually.......) and while these are coming out now I feel the lack of higher refresh rates and increased workload to use them just doesn't make them too viable for me at the moment.
  7. Thanks for the awesome giveaway Linus and dbrand c: It'd be hard to pick just one thing that I like about the Z2. I currently have the Z1, and while it's certainly a very nice phone, I would love to have the improved screen and the front facing speaker. I'm not sure if I could go back to having a non-waterproof phone. My favourite thing about dbrand would be that the skins that they make just look amazing. A lot of skins that I've seen just look tacky, but dbrand's look really professional from what I've seen. I honestly thought that the Z2 with the Linus Techtips skin on was a custom made phone when I first saw it.
