  1. just my little opinion here. Lets go ahead and set up an example for how an SSD can improve Game performance. The example will be DayZ, one of the most popular games on steam. it has heavy CPU usage as well as lotssss of loading due to the map size and detail. now of course your cpu will render this data but your SSD will provide this data quicker for the CPU to render. i do know that Dayz is a very unoptimized game and still in the making. Dayz -Played on high settings and 1920x1080 I have a I7-3770K clocked at 4.7GHz (due to some good water cooling), dual GTX 770's in SLI, and Dayz was loaded onto a good speed hard drive. -in open areas with little detail (no buildings or all the nonsense with citys) loading is not a problem and i see little to no quick pauses in the game. -But when in those heavily detailed areas my game quick pauses constantly to load in all the terrain. now this isnt the CPU's fault or my dual GPUs, but i know that you can blame it on unoptimization andddd hard drive speeds. -This made the game an annoyance to play in populated/detalied areas. dramatic FPS drops (60 to 15) are annoying and everyone wants to see consistency now... I have a I7-3770K clocked at 4.7GHz (due to some good water cooling), dual GTX 770's in SLI, and Dayz was loaded onto an SSD. -lets skip right to heavily detailed areas, The stutters went from a huge annoyance to very few if any! -Made them game altogether smoother and a joy to play while in populated/detalied areas. -My previouse major FPS drops of 60 to 15 are now 60 to 30 in the detalied city type areas. This is a very specific situation and there are other large terrain/high detailed maps out there and there will be more in the future. in a situation like this you will see a noticiable performance increase with an SSD over a Hard drive. I do completely agree with most of the replys that the better CPU is the much better choice out of the two for right now, but an SSD is a great upgrade not just for OS but for any game styled much like DayZ. it will give you much more constant FPS instead of the dramatic drops you would get on a hard drive
