  1. Think I've found the issue. I'm using the Plantronics GameCom 780 headset with virtual 7.1 surround sound. Since turning off the virtual 7.1 it hasn't crashed in over 6 hours of gameplay. Edit: Make that over 10 hours of gameplay
  2. From what I see. A lot of the time it's the misinformed console gamers that boast about how powerful or how much better their console is than a PC. Then I see a PC gamer reply explaining how they are wrong and then it turns into a full blown argument with name calling and everything else. It's stupid, but I must admit some of the arguments are funny to read sometimes.
  3. I played one match of Warface and deleted it. Felt like an even more unfinished COD game.
  4. I'm starting to give up now. It's just completely locked up twice in the same Dota match. Why is it just Dota that does this? I'm confused.
  5. Yep. All graphics drivers updated. I've tried re-installing Dota three or four times already but it's made no difference. There's no warning either, it just locks up and there's nothing I can do except hold the power button to turn it off and then back on again. If it happened during other games then I'd say it's hardware or driver related but when it's just Dota then it leads me to think it's something within Dota that's doing it.
  6. Basically since I started playing Dota 2. It's almost guaranteed to completely lock up my computer at least once every night, requiring a hard reset. Everything in my computer except the motherboard and CPU is now different but it still crashes. I've even moved it across to my SSD to see if it was maybe the HDD it was installed on but that didn't help at all. In the event viewer it's simply listed as the computer being turned off incorrectly but not why it locked up in the first place. Anyone else have any similar problems with Dota 2 or just in general with possible causes or things to try out?
  7. Any more votes for the Ranger over the Gigabyte? and would a gold plated CPU really make any difference?
  8. I don't really know much about the difference in quality between the main brands. The MSI sounds good, I like the look of it and it's cheaper than the ASUS one but I don't know which one would be better for overclocking or general quality of components. I may even go for the Gigabyte GA-Z79X Gaming 5. http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/motherboards/intelsocket1150/z97chipset/ga-z97x-gaming5.html I like the look of it, the features seem to match what I want to do and from having a quick look around they seem to be one of the best quality brands, but I could be wrong.
  9. I do like it's looks but unfortunately I can't buy it purely based on looks if it doesn't offer any real advantage over the Gaming 3 I shouldn't really be buying this stuff anyway but I need something new to play with Suppose I have saved myself £40 on not needing a new cooler... Or how about the MSI Gaming 5? http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/motherboards/intelsocket1150/z97chipset/z97gaming5.html
  10. The Gigabyte Gaming 3 comes with a Corsair Raptor HS30 and it's £40 cheaper. I prefer the look of the ASUS but is it £40 better in features and for overclocking?
  11. That's good to hear Now just need to decide on a Motherboard
  12. I've decided to buy myself the i5 4690K but can't decide which Z97 motherboard to buy. The 3 I'm looking at are listed below. I'm leaning more towards the ASUS. http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/motherboards/intelsocket1150/z97chipset/ga-z97x-gaming5.html http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/motherboards/intelsocket1150/z97chipset/ga-z97x-gaming7.html http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/motherboards/intelsocket1150/z97chipset/maximusviiranger.html I'm also stuck on what cooler to buy that fits the 1150 socket. I recently bought the Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO but I don't think this fits the 1150 socket CPUs. Any help on which one to buy would be appreciated.
  13. Whether it's badly optimised or not. Most of these problems are clearly apparent within 5 - 10 minutes of starting the game. How did IW not notice these problems?
  14. I went and bought the new CoD Ghosts from GMG (Green Man Gaming) and before you say anything I only bought it because all my friends did and I wanted something to play. Well the first mistake I made was buying the game, the second was buying from GMG. Basically, even though my computer can easily run the game it constantly lags, even on low settings and the mouse is completely screwed up. And yes I have tried the fixes but that's not the point. The game will also crash to desktop half the time and after looking at the Task Manager it appears that CoD was using in excess of 4.5GB of RAM. Why? On top of the issues above only 1 of my friends has been able to get it running. Despite the fact that the game is broken and clearly not as advertised GMG are flat out refusing to even consider giving me a refund. If Steam and Origin can then why can't GMG? Why are the people who bought from GMG being punished when others having the same problems are getting refunds from Steam. I will continue to fight for a refund as I'm not happy paying over £30 for something that is unplayable due to no fault of my own. In the mean time I would recommend not buying this from GMG because if you have the same problems then GMG don't care unfortunately.
