I have two AOC i2269Vw monitors that I have been looking to mount. I want to do a desk vise mount solution due to it's greater flexibility, it is good to not that I cannot do a wall mount with my desk location. The reason I have not mounted them yet/the reason I am here is that my desk is cheaply made and only 5/8" thick. I'm not sure what kind off wood it is made of, but I myself would not put a great amount of trust in it for mounting, I was wondering if it would be possible to put another board in the vise of the mount to add thickness and possibly help to decrease the pressure by distributing the force over a greater area. Any advice on my idea or other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. P.S: The mount I am currently considering is here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0052AWGLE/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=24O7D9GG3YJF4&coliid=IHZJ1Z3TKVS4W If you have any suggestions for mounts those would be appreciated, though I do ask that the suggestions be under $70 preferably under $50. Thanks, Splocker

Hello, I rescently (Yesterday) have started folding. I was wondering why I seem to take so long on a WU, at least 5+ hrs, ie. compared to Luke's times from the distrubuted computing build log of minutes. I have my system running on Full when I am folding. I understand if it's just that my hardware isn't as powerful, or if I'm just getting different sized WU's, but I just feel as if the difference shouldn't be that big. Power supply issues! Multiple computers ticking.
Splocker replied to Splocker's topic in Troubleshooting
It is not just throught the speakers. I hear it from the PSU itself regardless of wether or not the speakers are pulgged in. -
Rescently I had an issue with my (now Previous) computer where the powersupply would tick when used for a while (several hours or more). Long story short I decided to build a new computer since I had been wanting one. Well I finished the final touches on the build this morning. However this after noon after running for 6-8 hours my new build started ticking. The ticking is quite noticible when it has been on for a while, in fact in comes through the speakers after long enough. If the computer is unpluged it will fade away. I have tried plugging it into different circuits in my home but it will just tick when I turn the power supply on. To be clear the computer must be powered on to start ticking, but the ticking will continue will fading away even when powered off. Old build specs: Operating System: Windows 8.1 64bit CPU: fx-4100 @ 4ghz CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Mother Board: MSI 970a-g43 RAM: 12gb Kingston Hyperx 1333mhz. GPU: XFX Radeon HD 7850 2gb Core @ 950mhz Memory @1326 Wifi Card: Either a Gigabyte GC-WB300D or a Gigabyte GC-BI50 HDD: Segate Baracude 500gb + Toshiba 500gb PSU: Xion 850watt 80+ Bronze New build specs: Pcpartpicker link: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/shVVXL Thanks in advance, Splocker Extra details I forgot to mention: Even when out of the case the Xion Powersupply still ticked (not connected except for the wall, same circuit within the house)

Hey, I was wondering what the difference really is between these cards? I mean there is the obvious difference in stream processor count, but what is the realistic performance difference. Also, why does the non-x variant support Dx 12 and the X variant not support it? Issues With Some Kingston HyperX Memory
Splocker replied to Splocker's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Are you saying that it should boost up to that frequency when it needs it? Also I forgot to mention that I have three stick of 4gb's if that means anything. -
Hey Guys, Just thought I would post this as I have observed an issue with my memory lately. As you can see in the File I attached, my memory, though it should be at 1333mhz is running at 667mhz. I have updated motherboard drivers but it is still showing at the wrong frequency. Any help is appreciated. - Splocker

Planning a New Gaming/General Purpose Build
Splocker replied to Splocker's topic in New Builds and Planning
I don't know if you saw, but at the bottom of the post I mentioned that I could take 8 gigs of ram from my current and move it over. It is only 1333mhz though. Would that be a good idea? Also, I don't know much on the B85 chipset, but would that overclock well? 'Cause I would like to do a bit of overclocking if I only come in at 3.2 ghz stock.- 15 replies

Planning a New Gaming/General Purpose Build
Splocker replied to Splocker's topic in New Builds and Planning
I would be buying a new 212 EVO, I would reuse the current one, but I would like to re-purpose the old system to folding@home and the stock cooler, which I still have, is a bit noisy.- 15 replies

As to the GPU, were you referring to multi-monitor gaming when you said it wouldn't last very long? Because I would not be doing much multi-monitor gaming outside of some of the racing games. Also, for the HDD I would take one of my 500gb from my current system and put it in the new one.- 15 replies

The clicking is coming from the bottom of the case so I doubt it's the hdd, though I will do some more diagnosing. As to the monitors I don't know for sure yet, but would probably do dual 1080p then maybe add another later on.- 15 replies

Planning a New Gaming/General Purpose Build
Splocker replied to Splocker's topic in New Builds and Planning
Thanks for the feedback. There are two things I want to address. First the RAM I currently have 12gb's in my system, I may just pass on new ram and put 8gb's of my 12 in the new system. Second, as to the PSU I would just bring it over, but I am suspicious it may be dying as I am hearing a quiet but persistent clicking noise which as far as far I have been able to tell is from it. For my case I currently have a Thermaltake Snow Commander Ms-i, which I do not recommend as the front audio ports have issues. As to the monitors they would actually all be 1920x1080.- 15 replies

Hey guys, I was planning a new build and would like some feedback/ideas. I spec'd out a build already(http://pcpartpicker.com/p/BqHZdC), feel free to modify it/ do something completely new. The GTX 760 in the build I would buy used from my brother, It's in good condition and not heavily used. 1. Budget & Location Budget: $850-$925is preferred but I am willing to go up to $1000 maybe $1100 max. Location: United States. 2. Aim There will of course be web browsing in the mix. Main goals will be gaming performance. Titles would include, Bf4, Need For Speed:Most Wanted, Minecraft, DiRT 3, Civ 5, Portal & Portal 2, Bf3, Bo2, and Planetside 2. I also do some Photoshop, it is done sparsely though. 3. Monitors At first I would use my current 1440x900 monitor, however, I would hopefully soon move to a 1920x1080. Eventually I would hope to add a second monitor at minimum and possibly a third, both at 1920x1080. 4. Peripherals I will not need any peripherals, but I will need a copy of Windows, I would say 8/8.1. 5. Why are you upgrading? I would like to upgrade due to low frame rates even running a mixture of low and medium settings on most of the games listed above. Bf4 generally runs in the 35 to 55fps range, obviously depending on server capacity, in full matches I will often run 25-35fps. As for low capacity servers, 15-25 people, I might hold 60fps on a good day. I have also incountered frame drops down to 8fps, or lower, for 30 seconds at a time recently. The specs on my current rig are as follows: Operating System: Windows 8.1 CPU: fx-4100 @ 4ghz CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Mother Board: MSI 970a-g43 RAM: 12gb Kingston Hyperx 1333mhz. GPU: XFX Radeon HD 7850 2gb Core @ 950mhz Memory @1326 Wifi Card: Either a Gigabyte GC-WB300D or a Gigabyte GC-BI50 HDD: Segate Baracude 500gb + Toshiba 500gb PSU: Xion 850watt 80+ Bronze Disc Drive: LG disc reader (don't know the model number) Thank you ahead of time for any feedback, any and all feedback is welcome. - Splocker P.S: For the case I'm not super picky about looks, any recommendations are welcome, just try to stay at or under $80. P.P.S: As to the ram on the new system, I may just grab 8 gigs from the old rather then buying new.
