Loving my new job (lot porter for a Chevy dealer) but the hours are long as there's little time outside of work when you work 9 hours per day. Even browsing the forum seems kinda weird because I'm making typos and stuff like that that I wouldn't normally do.

Definitely miss some people from my old job but driving cool cars definitely beats food service any day.

i bet you love the 'car smell' than that greasy food smell.

That actually sounds like it can be kinda fun.  Do you get to drive any Corvettes?

    Aww that's nice :)

Used to help Mazda with the rotary engines, but I was too busy that I decided to leave. I guess that was a mistake :/

    @DimasRMDO did you say rotary?

@Tech_Dreamer Nothing beats the smell of a new car :x

@LordOTaco Ayee, but I was dealing with RX-8s, I really enjoyed it.

@DimasRMDO I've actually seen a few around my area surprisingly.  RCR did a vid on that too.

@LordOTaco They're a dying breed here, too many people buying Lambos and stuff. I've seen only 2 RX-7s so far and around 5 RX-8s here. One RX-7 swapped with 20B, freakin' sick.

@DimasRMDO that is a crime punishable by death.  You get a rotary you go all the way with all the maintenance problems, fuel costs, and orgasmic sound to go with it.

@Tech_DreamerYeah, that pizza smell eventually just kinda became air smell to me. Wondering if that will happen with new car smell xD

Tagging is broken so I'm gonna assume you'll read the reply to this where I try to tag you but the stupid system fails, as always.

@lordoftaco My dealer mostly sells trucks and SUVs and we don't have a single Corvette. We do have a ZL1 Camaro, but it sits inside parked as a display model unless someone ponies up for it, and if someone does then I'll have to fill it up and wash it. But I have driven some cool cars. I've driven every Chevy car bar the Sonic and Impala (because nobody buys them) and all of our used cars. The Focus ST we had was fun, the Charger Scat Pack was fun, the Mini Cooper is hilarious because the stereo system talks to you when you start up and it's got two British people having a conversation and they happen to include you in it... it's kinda weird but it's silly. Eventually though we probably will get some Corvettes and Camaros. Currently we're spending the money on stocking Bolts since those fly out the door and GM charges a hefty price for them because they will only give dealers finite stock.

@rotaryPeople - RX7s are cool but have you tried reliability and not needing to fill up with oil every time you refuel?

@STRMfrmXMN Not every time, I check my oil every week. Since I switched to synthetic oil, the oil's burned at a slower rate (I drive my car for racing sometimes). If you don't drive the car like mental, RX-8 burns not much oil, some RX-7s and older can still burns more oil since they are mechanically driven (you can readjust it). Newer RXs oil injection are electronic driven, so you have to reprogram it.

About the reliability, some people I know readjusted the oil injection so it injects more, worse emission but so far their cars have been running since around 2005 (not for racing, some launches, but nothing more intense). They also changed their seals to the thicker ones (not OEM of course).

Thing is though, they burn obscene amounts of oil for a road-going car. The rotary also runs better if driven hard. I'm not an engineer, so I don't know why that is, but I'd guess it has something to do with carbon buildup.

  13. DimasRMDO

    DimasRMDO

I agree on that one, the carbon buildup is sure an issue, some go by rerouting the oiling system so it doesn't inject 4 stroke oil but 2 stroke instead since it burns more cleanly. Even when driven hard, temperature is an issue and rotaries are very sensitive to excessive heat.

About being driven hard, have you ever heard about the Italian tune up? The idea is similar to that.
