It turns out the 4U chassis will not work for me. It's too big to be portable - I misjudged its size. Now my job is tougher, trying to fit into a 2U chassis. Looks like the Scythe Big Shuriken looks narrow enough. Thanks for the tip.

Maowhree I did look it up. That's why I questioned you when you suggested the cooler. It plainly does not work with my processor - without the special adapter. Which I found right about the time you decided to condescend and insult me. You went from hero to sourpuss in two minutes. Relax and stop judging people. I did right by asking for help. And I feel confident that I ordered the best parts thanks to you.

Now that's low profile!

Haha! I just found that. The reason I don't "just use Google next time" is because Google can't give me the insight that an experienced person such as yourself can. It will show me everything out there possible that is rated to work, but not what your personal favorites are - based on experience. Enjoy your coffee. You did a good thing this morning already

Maorhee: I don't think the NH-C14 will work for i7-4930K. It's only good for 1155. Is there another you're thinking of?

Any particular AIO or custom loop? There are several. Price is not as important as peace of mind

Is the Noctua i4 a low profile? I like the Noctua 14 that's' in my current system, but it sure blocks that first PCI slot. I busted a latch installing a GPU.

I'm moving a system from a tower case into a 4U rack mounted chassis for use as a portable live video streaming studio. Built around ASUS P9X79-E WS server board, i7-4930K processor, NVidia Quadro K4200 GPU. I will most certainly be overclocking, so I know that's a challenge for low profile coolers. The current heat sink is a Noctua NH U14S. It's pretty tall. doubt it will fit into a 4U case. And what about water cooling? I know they will fit, but are they better?

November 9th Ultimate Video Editing PC Buyer's Guide - where to buy
percoplus replied to LinusTech's topic in LTT Releases
I built this exact system for my video editing rig. And now, I am about to build a new one around the ASUS X99-E WS and an Intel i7-5930K or i7-5960K, so I'll be interested to know your specs for video editing this year. But for last year's kit, I want to convert it into a portable live video streaming computer. So, I need to find out how I can fit everything into a small case I that can bring on an airplane. Livestream.com has turnkey units HD51 http://new.livestream.com/studio/hd51 and HD510 http://new.livestream.com/studio/HD510 that can be carried around in a pouch. I doubt this system can go that small, can it? What would I need to replace? I also see the 4U rack mounted server cases http://www.adkvideoediting.com/telestream.asp which do not look too portable unless I can put it into some kind of rolling travel case or SKB So far, It's looking like this: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/percoplus/saved/7jZWGX I need to move on this pretty quickly so any advice is appreciated Oh, and Please advise on a portable monitor (touch screen) that I can use on live video shoots -
I have the following system in a Silverstone Temjin Tower case. It's for video editing, but I am converting it into a Live Streaming computer and I want to make it portable. I'm understanding that a 4U rack mountable case is the way to go and I wanted to verify that is my best option. I have no idea which 4U chassic would work best or what components I need to replace to make it work. ASUS P9X79-E WS Motherboard Intel six core i7-4930K CPU ASUS Direct CUII OC GTX780 PNY NVidia Quadro K4200 GPU Corsair Dominator DDR3 64 GB RAM Intel SSD 530 Series 240 GB System drive Kingston Hyper SSD 120 GB (for cache) 16 TB (4 x 4TB) RAID 0 WD Black Drives (This will transfer to the new X99 editing system) Noctua NHU14s CPU Cooler Corsair AX860i PSU Black Magic Design Decklink Mini Recorders (4 of them for HDMI camera inputs) Not sure what to do about a monitor, but would like to somehow incorporate a portable touchscreen at least 23" Here's a picture of a 'really' portable kit, but I doubt I can squeeze this sytem into that. More likely some kind of rolling rack case to put the 4U into?

A Spot Of Thermal Paste on CPU Contacts

Cooler Master V8 heat sink -
I have 3 open drive slots in my tower case, so I was curious if I could burn multiple disks at once or just a one-at-a-time thing. It would be a time saver if I needed to burn a few Blu-rays. I suppose I could build an external duplicator unit. The Primera machines are sweet, and they print labels as well, but too costly. I haven't had to burn that many disks to justify such a purchase.

Does anyone know if a system with 2 or 3 internal DVD burners can burn simultaneously? or Blu-ray burners?

Hmmm. That's a pretty wide gap in readings. I would agree with ASUS since it's their board. I wonder what sensor SPECCY is using?
