  1. Okay. I'll try this and if it doesn't work I'll just buy the SATA to USB cable that most tutorials use. Thanks for your help!
  2. No I don't unfortunately. Could I maybe create a recovery drive with the flash drive and then recover my windows on the SSD? This says you can use a flash drive. Do you think that might work? I'm worried that it might mess with the files that are on the SSD when you buy it (the ones required for the drive to work).
  3. Is there a way to do this without purchasing a SATA to USB cable? I believe most laptops only support one internal drive. Do you mean just for USB drives? or all drives? I was going to purchase this since it was on sale. While it's not the fastest drive, I'm just looking for a faster boot up time and general windows experience (when moving files etc). It's definitely an improvement compared to the 5400 rpm drive that comes with the laptop.
  4. I am planning on installing an ssd in my laptop and I'm fairly certain the two are compatible. I just had a question about transferring the data. It seems that I would need software to copy the image of my windows on to the new drive which isn't an issue. The main thing I was wondering is if I could save a little money by copying my windows on to a usb flash drive (it's big enough) and once I replace the HDD with the SSD, boot from the usb and finally copy the image (from the usb) on to the SSD. Would that be possible? If so would it damage the data or leave it slow due to lack of optimization? The alternative would be buying a SATA to USB cable (there might be others?). Thanks for the help and if there is a better place to ask this let me know.
  5. Oh, I really like that design. So crisp, just like all Asus products.
