  1. So just to confirm, and please everybody pitch in for this: From the initial list I gave in my question, most of you agree with DT 990 Pro, 250 ohm being the best choice? And also let me know if I am right here: the Pro does not differ from the Premium in sound quality but only in clamping force and hence the bass sounds more pronounced?
  2. And what do you guys think about the comfort level of the DT 990 Pro? I will be wearing it for hours gaming on my computer.... but not crazy long: not for 10 hours in a stretch... maybe for 3 hours in a stretch and then again later during the day.... And of course 2-4 hours while watching movies, I have this habit of watching movies back to back in one sitting...
  3. And which impedance level should I go with? The 990 Pro is available in 250 ohm. The 990 Premium is available in 32 ohm, 250 ohm and 600 ohm. What is the difference between the Pro and the Premium and why is there such a big price difference between them?
  4. So SSL, do you suggest Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro over the others? You said it was the most affordable, but is its sound quality also markedly better than that of the others? Please do let me know.
  5. Thank you Tech_Dreamer... I don't really need heavy bass... I just need good quality overall and a clean, balanced sound experience with clarity. Do I need to buy an external amp, isn't the amplification provided by the ASUS sound card enough?
  6. Hello, I am looking for headphones which ranks among the best for sound quality. I am ready to spend upto $300, give or take a few. My main purpose is immersive experience in gaming, movies and some music. I am also planning to get the ASUS Xonar Essence STX sound card after hearing and reading rave reviews about it. I have read that open back headphones are better sounding than closed back headphones. Is this true? I am, frankly, new to high-end headphones and not clear if high impedance headphones are any better in sound quality than low impedance ones. I know that the high impedance ones are more difficult to drive but I am going to get the Xonar Essence STX anyway. I have read rave reviews about these headphones: Beyerdynamic DT 770/880/990 Pro Sennheiser HD 598 Audio Technica ATH-M50x Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro Razer Kraken Forged (Sound quality not comparable to others in this list; but the build is just awesome) Sennheiser HD 600 (this crosses my budget but I can consider it if it is exceptionally better than the others in this list) So which one do you guys recommend among these? Or if you have other recommendations, please feel free to suggest. Please do explain briefly how open-back or closed-back headphones differ in sound quality and how they will affect my main purpose (which is action-gaming and movies/music) and also please explain the impedance perspective and whether I need to go for high impedance just because I have a good sound card. I thank you all in advance for taking the time to reply.
  7. I like the brushed aluminum feel and the graphics power....
