  1. Hello all, brace yourself for many questions. I had to replace my motherboard and FX-6350 a while back, and popped an FX-8350 into it. Since then I've noticed several issues: 1. My FX-6350 with 8-pin clocked up past 4.2 GHz on all cores, but my FX-8350 cannot clock past ~3.97 on all cores. My previous board was an Asus M5A97 R2.0. This had an 8-pin connector for CPU power. Current board is the Asus M5A97 LE R2.0. This has a 4-pin connector for CPU power. I'm using the same 550w 80+ bronze PSU as I was before. Would a 4-pin CPU power connector cause the FX-8350 not to clock up to 4 GHz? Or is it a limitation of the lesser board? 2. Along with this, the 8350 never clocks below 3 GHz: jumping between 3 and 4 GHz just at the desktop with <5% CPU usage in task manager. I used the motherboard utility to try to figure things out, and according to it the CPU is constantly using 99.99 watts. (the max for 4-pin power?) I don't know how accurate the software power usage readings are, either. Are they reliable? I've tested this on a friend's M5A97 LE R2.0 which has an FX-8320. It clocks at 1.5 GHz when idle, with <10 watts of power drawn according to the same utility. I reset the BIOS to defaults, and no change. I flashed to a previous version of the BIOS, and no change. I was running the most recent version. What is causing the constant power draw? Is it a faulty board? CPU? 3. The final issue is throttling. I had a Coolermaster hyper 612 v2 on my 6350, and it rarely rose above 65 degrees. I use that heatsink on my 8350 which keeps it running cool. However, when the CPU temp reaches 55 or 56 degrees it will clock down to 1.6 GHz until it cools below 45 degrees. It rarely gets that hot, but it is still of concern for photo processing or occasional video encoding. As I've said, I've reset the BIOS to defaults and tried a different version. No success. The FX-8320's board of the same model does not throttle no matter the temperature (we stopped testing past 70 degrees). What could be causing this? So... Am I looking at a bad board or CPU? Or are there fixes for this in the BIOS? Physically on the motherboard? Would simply reseating the processor help? I can hardly find anything about this online. I hope y'all can help.
  2. Everything is ruined! Oh well. Maybe I'll ask something meaningful next time.
  3. But it is supposed to be off topic...
  4. If I plant two apples, will I be able to grow a dual core?
  5. Mango! That's it! Thanks! I would have never guessed!
  6. I want a fruit please. A fruit comparable to a Rolex (as a grapefruit is to a Prius).
  7. If a Prius is likened to a grapefruit, the what would a Rolex be compared to?

    200mm Fans

How come we don't see much out there about 200mm fans? I have two in my case, (the Phanteks one and CM Megaflo). I have them and I like them, but there doesn't seem to be an overwhelming desire for them or marketing for them. Any thoughts?
  9. I have considered the volt, but that gets worse mileage once the engine kicks in for recharging the battery.
  10. Which one do all y'all think is better? I like the insight for its looks a bit more, but the prius for the better gas mileage and such. Any ideas to lean me one way or the other?
  11. Okay, thanks everyone! I will continue to have ram that I don't use still, though. I may just donate it or keep it for future programs or such that I may need
  12. Isn't this the off topic forum? Maybe I'll ask in the aircooling forum next time...
  13. I haz a prius, and I am thinking about moving to Texas. I would like to fit in a little bit, so I am thinking about getting a Subaru truck. Or a different truck. Which one is the best? I would like it to be electric or a hybrid. I intend to 2,000k lbs pounds. I would like it to be upgradable, with a medium sized bed. Also side note, can I upgrade the storage space and RAM capacity? Thanks all!
  14. I tried but I lost count after this many. sry
