Interests
Running, following PC hardware specs and comparisons, rock-pop music, anything Corsair (Gaming?), emergency services and response vehicles. The Coast Guard is cool too. Oh, and of course the PC Gaming Master Race.

Biography
I aspire to be offered an appointment to the United States Coast Guard Academy where I plan to major in Management and later serve on the 154' Sentinel Class Cutter, CGC Paul Clark (WPC-1106). I love gaming, but I am absolutely terrible at the FPSing, and side scrollers, and anything not simulation related really. I love putting together computers, just hearing the click of the RAM sticks as they are pushed into place is enough to get me giddy.

Sign me up! I usually lean towards AMD for pretty much everything just because price, but for free I think I'll take an 970

$600 Gaming Rig - Entry level gaming
FractalCyclone replied to FractalCyclone's topic in New Builds and Planning
Pays to be informed. I'll wait on it. I can't imagine an 8350 on a $600 dollar budget. The thought makes me fuzzy inside. -
$600 Gaming Rig - Entry level gaming
FractalCyclone replied to FractalCyclone's topic in New Builds and Planning
I don't think I'll be looking at an SSD at this price point. I was looking at a 1TB Seagate or Western Digital HDD for starters. -
I live in the middle of the Midwest. South Dakota, United States. My budget is around $600 USD; I can stretch it to $650 USD. I want to use the PC for gaming; specifically some FPS titles like Battlefield and Call of Duty; as well as some simulators and MMOs / RPGs. I am currently running a single 1600 x 900 acer monitor; however I plan to add a 1080p 21.5" monitor later. I have the peripherals, decent keyboard, mouse, headphones, etc. I need an OS, like Windows 8.1. (REDDIT software swap). I need an optical drive as well as a wireless networking dongle or PCI card. I want to purchase all the parts either tomorrow or Sunday. I cannot do in-store pickups, I need everything delivered to my door. Personally; I would prefer to go the AMD route over Intel / NVIDIA.

Coolest names in tech products
FractalCyclone replied to GrmanRodriguez's topic in General Discussion
Gigabyte's "WINDFORCE" cooler. All the Corsair SSDs. Neutron, Force, etc Corsair's Raptor, Vengeance, and Obsidian series. The Intel Xeon processors. Arguably all the processor series names from both AMD and Intel have a ring to them that just sounds cool imo. -
Just wanting opinions on what my laptop can sell for.
FractalCyclone replied to clementk's topic in Phones and Tablets
I suppose I was the best help here then... right? My lint offer still stands. Given the original price, I'd assume you could sell it for about $950 - $1,100. -

FractalCyclone replied to clementk's topic in Phones and Tablets
I'll trade you for a piece of good o'l pocket lint. I'mma throw my wild estimate out there, $600 USD, and probably pressure somebody to buy it for more. But I don't know noth'n bout laptop specs. -
Finding a 280x/290x for a smaller case.
FractalCyclone replied to shoutout33's topic in Graphics Cards
I might be mistaken, but I think MSi has even an "ITX" series of either the 270X, 280X, or 290X. I'll see if I can find it real quick, and information on its availability and pricing, etc. Edit: I can't find anything other than an out-of-stock MSi ITX (4.7") R9 270X. -
When you use two AMD video cards in crossfire can you use all the display interfaces on both cards? Say on Gigabyte 280s, could you use all 4 DVI interfaces, both HDMI interfaces, and both Display Port interfaces at the same time in multi-monitor set-ups? Or are only one of the card's display interfaces enabled at once?
-
Alright, I'll take that as marginally. And by the way, AMD Fanboy-ism ftw

Does the different heatsink and pipes offer any additional performance over the Plus or vise versa?
-
Is there any performance, mounting, hardware, or general differences between the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO and Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus? I see they sell for roughly the same price usually, and they look the same from all information I can find.

Radeon R7 260X on a Budget Gaming Build?
FractalCyclone replied to FractalCyclone's topic in Graphics Cards
My parents are sore needles with used products. Either it's new or it doesn't work. Philosophy of expensive tastes, and prohibiting me from anything E-bay or refurbished being purchased. I'd love too, but I'm also a bit skeptical on the authenticity; but terms of service and use and all the fun warranties protect me so it does make me kind of distraught. As for stealing their tech, I have 99% of the computer hardware in the house, the only non-mobile hardware we have that I don't even want to mess with is an all-in-one chassis computer with integrated speakers into the 15" screen. Otherwise I have my one 1366x768 monitor attached to the darned laptop, which I may mind you isn't even really mine. Speakers aren't a problem, I got a Logitech G430 headset for a birthday, how well it goes to this no-gaming laptop, yes?
