Client Build #2 The Mac Killer
* I want to preface this post by saying I have nothing against Macs, it's just not my cup of tea. They have their place in the market just as PCs do. However, I do take issue when someone with unreasonable and blatantly biased opinions is constantly telling others they are wrong, with no real facts to back it up.
An Acquaintance of mine approached me complaining about how his bosses were always glorifying Apple products, and talking about how PCs were trash. This went on for a few months and we started talking about building him a stylish and powerful PC for work. Thus this The Mac Killer was born.
The best part is my my acquaintance convinced them to pay for, siting "that he is more productive on a PC".

Parts Rational
- Core i5-4690: This CPU fit nicely in this build, with plenty of compute performance for any average work task, and a decent on board GPU for light photo editing.
-
Scythe SCSK-1100 CPU Cooler: This is not technically necessary for his needs, but we are trying to show up Macs here, so I wanted this computer to be as cool and quiet as possible. Plus I picked up this cooler for $10, from a server that was being scrapped.
-
Gigabyte GA-H97N-WIFI: This is a great little motherboard for the price it came with all the bells and whistles one would expect from a board that cost $50 more. The WIFI was the main selling point though, as I wanted this PC to be adaptable depending where it was being used.
- HyperX Fury 16GB: You might be asking yourself why this build requires 16GB of ram. The answer is simple really my client doesn't like to close anything, at any one time he will have 10 programs, and 20 tabs open on his computer. We clocked his ram usage at just over 10GB's during a regular work session at home.
- Samsung 850 EVO: For enterprise applications this wouldn't be my first choice of SSD. The Intel 730 would have been, its reliability is well known, but those price restraints always get you, so the 850 EVO was a great second choice.
- Enthoo EVOLV: Finally, the crowning glory of this build. We didn't choose this chassis because of its great airflow, amazing ITX water-cooling potential, or incredible cable management, we chose it for the looks. When in Rome (an office run by Mac Fanatics), do as the Romans do (go for style over everything else).
