4 - MK-26

Stock Sapphire 7970 cooler had an awful click in the fan.

I wanted a cooling solution that I could use for future cards, but also with an interchangeable fan solution.

So I got the Prolimatech MK-26, and have loved it ever since.

Since this picture I've replaced the fans on it with Prolimatech's low profile fans.

Runs much quieter and cooler than a stock cooler due to the larger fan diameters and lack of a shroud.

How do you cool the VRMs and RAM? Did you glue the heatsinks to the card?

Because you said that you wanted something you can use for future cards as well....

The MK-26 kit comes with VRM and RAM heatsinks with adhesive pads on the bottom.

I didn't actually apply them because I intend to save them for a future card, already had the 7970 for a while.

So it's still using the original VRM/RAM heatsink intended for the the original cooler, but honestly it hasn't noticeably affected their heat output, especially with two full-sized 120mm (now 140mm) fans blowing straight through onto them.
