You don't really need after-market thermal paste, the stuff that comes with your cooler should be fine. If anything it would be a 1-2 degree difference. You might want to get some 120mm fans as well such as noctua nf-f12, be quiet silent wings 2 or corsair sp120s. Also, the ASUS 970 strix has a silent fan mode and the fans will only turn on at certain temperatures

1. Right now i have four fans (two in the front, one in the back and one on the top). Two came with the case and the other two gave me my friend (same fans). Those fans are all the default fans from the Corsair 350R.

2. I have a GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 970 and not a strix and not the strix. But i can activate this mode as well
