im between picking a new gpu. I want to go between a GTX 970 or a 960, but which do i pick? I play games like battlefield 4, Far cry 4, and some of the newer titles and im not looking for 60 FPS on Ultra, but i want to be able to run it on a good setting

PC Specs: MSI Gaming 5 MB, Intel i5 4960k, 8 gigs of corsair vengence, corsair 750m, GPU: GTX 570 HD 1.35 GB (GDDR5)

It all depends on your budget. If you have some cash to spare definitely go with the 970, if not, well you have a choice to make, I personally like AMD for the medium priced cards, but it's your choice!

the r9 280x does beat the 960 and has more vram and a higher memory bandwith so its better for higher resolutions.

but a 970 owns a r9 290x so get that... or save for a 980...

I looked at both the EVGA GTX 960, 970, & 980 specs & review video's. I'm going SLI & made my decision based on the following.

I know the 980 is a bit better then all & at first I was going to buy 2 960's for SLI, but one video warned me to forget about using 2 960's in SLI due to the fact that they only have 2GB's of GDDR 5 & the 970 has 4GB's of GDDR5 allowing you to use many filters & run in 4K display.

I decided to get 2 EVGA GTX 970's for SLI. Looking at the price for 2 980's,, I don't think I made a bad move.

Knowing the rest of my configuration I know I'll be more then happy for what I got.

My Rig,

AMD FX 8350 8 core @ 4Ghz

MSI 990FXA-GD80 Mobo

8GB Gskill Rampage Ram @ 1866Mhz

2 EVGA 970 GPU's in SLI

2 1TB 10,000 RPM Raptors HD's in Raid 0

I may not be top of the line, but I know I have a config far better then mid range.

I'm waiting to see some DDR4 Motherboards very soon  Alienware has them & DDR4 Ram is very expensive right now

I hope to see AM3+ DDR4 Mobo's available.. fingers crossed :)
