Laptop problem

Gotta small laptop problem.

About a week ago, my Lenovo laptop's hard drive started making loud clicking sounds, as the week progressed, the laptop got slower and slower. Wednesday, I got 2 bsods that quickly recovered. Since then, I've been unable to finish updating a game because of a disk write error.

I've tried everything, restarting, hard power offs, even defragged my entire Hard Drive.

I'm not an expert, but the clicking sounds mean that the HDD is failing and it may be caused for the malfunction of the disk head, I recommend you to change the HDD now that you can backup the information.

I hope I helped you with this info.

Thanks for the input, I believe that the Hard Drive is failing.

Strange part, I scanned it twice for bad sectors and Windows found none, it even keeps saying my hard drive is healthy. Better safe than sorry. Just backed up yesterday.

Had the same problem except that I dropped my laptop while it was running. Its a mechanical failure rather than a write issue.

If you do end up upgrading your hard drive, I recommend a Samsung 840- or 850-series SSD. That way you won't have any mechanical failures and Samsung SSDs are known for having a very large number of lifetime writes. They might be a bit more than your budget, but it's worth it in the long run.
