  1. Hey Guys, right now i'm running a headless UnRaid NAS (v. 6.5.3) mostly for Plex streaming, but i plan to install a Win 10 Vm as a Cinema 4 Render Node and want to access it via Remote Desktop. I never installed a Vm on UnRaid, but think a can handle that much my own. So i guess i need a Win10 image, is there like a super stripped down version i can install to get most out of my system? Or should i build my own image? I just want to run Cinema 4D on this machine with remote access from within my home network. After that i`ll pass through every core, RAM, integrated video graphics, usb controller - i there something i have to look out for ? I don't plan to use plex while the VM is running. if necessary i can provide any information you need Thanks in advance
  2. i dont need an i5, but i have on hand, from an old machine
  3. Hello nice people out there, i've build myself a freenas with stuff i had laying around and bought a 4tb for now. Since im living in germany electricity is fu** expansive. ( 0.30€/0.36$ = 1 kwh) Now i'm thinking how to save power on this machine. A i5 3550 + some mobo, 8G+2G Ram ,4tb iron wolf is in there right now, but im adding a couple drives in a month or so and changing the OS to unRaid. I was thinking to disable some cores and/or underclock/undervolt the i5 3550. TL:DR: How to save power on this system(NAS): i5 3550, 8G+2G RAM, 5 HDD Thank you guys.
  4. Hey people, is it possible to use 32 RAM stick, like those 32GB Samsung M393A4K40BB1, on a regular AM4 Motherbaord ? thanks in advance
  5. Hey folks, first of all all, i have no idea how to do this stuff at all, so please be kind with me and if you know about any guides or suggestions which could help, please post them here. Thanks alot. What i have: an old pc which i dismantled recently for another build, except for: - a core i5 3550 i believe ( have to check later) / stock cooler | is this enough power ??? - a gigabyte ga-b75-d3v - one stick of 8 gb ddr3 ram - a cheap-o atx case What i want: - as cheap as possible NAS for: - having backups of 2 pc`s - storing a backup of 3D renderings - streaming my movie collection (some of them are 4K) - access over the network for pc`s of course Bonus: - access for other devices like smartphones - if possible, access from the internet - monitoring over an app As far as i know i need a capable psu and storage of course, i`ve read a WD Ironwolf is a good choice. Also the 4tb are 95€ at my place I thought buying a mATX or even a ITX mobo with a suitable case, that is and dumping it somewhere, but are there any cheap mobos this size for my cpu ??? I dont want to spend 50€ or more for such old hardware Software wise....... well i know its possible to build a nas with this kind of parts and i know i can use some kind of ubuntu , freeNas or whatever plex is for that, btu i have absolutely no idea what the pro and cons are and how i get to run. How do i set this up ? If you need any more information feel free to ask, i`m in the dark here. ( also i have problems expressing myself in english ) Pls help me out here, it would mean alot to me
  6. Hey guys, sometimes i duplicate my monitor for reasons and then my main monitor deactivates my icc profile, which is a huge problem. I really dont care about my secondary one though, i just need to activate the icc profile for the main one, if it activates on both than its fine. The problem is that windows 10 says im not allowed to do that So is there any solution, like a 3rd party programm or so ? thanks in advance
  7. Well, i`m not sure where to put this thread, so i´m sorry if i´m wrong here. Please have a potato. I discovered that i can use my tablet as monitor with a software called spacedesk, but since most android tablets don`t have a ethernet port the connection is mediocre at best, which means is way to laggy to use. Then i thought about a otg cable, but i didn´t found one which has ehternet AND a extra usb port (for charging). Is there even something like that ? I have a couple questions to all of this: - can i use a regular usb-a to ehternet + usb hub in combination with a micro usb to usb-a cable ? - if yes, i´ve seen one a usb to ethernet with gigabit speed. How much speed can android or rather how much can the chips handle ? - are there other solutions to this ? thanks in advance FYI: Using a Yoga Tablet 2-1050L
  8. yeah kind of, there is just one site "ebay-kleinanzeigen" (ebay-classfields) and when it comes to technologies the people over there are really jerks sometime. F.e a GTX 780ti is 150€ - 250€ around 210 - 350 CAD. https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/rds/sop/5932855999.html for comparison
  9. Hello ladies and gentlenerds, i'm currently using a 10 year old macbook with a ssd, its an overall good performer when it comes to simple stuff like word, but at some point the cpu is way to slow. That means i need a replacement in a range of 500€ - 800€. specs: - back lid keyboard is must, if possible with good tactile feedback - 1080p - a somewhat decent cpu - at least 8gb of ram - something better/worse than a gtx 950m - ssd would be great, but not necessary (i have plenty of them) - no need of dvd-drive, hdd, os I thought about this http://amzn.to/2jVrHYK ( MEDION ERAZER P6661 MD 60369 ), but no back lid keyboard If you have any suggestions please post them below or if you knew a great deal on some used ones, that would suffice to. thanks EDIT: forgot to mention, i'm from germany
  10. Well ^^ i only need a 1080p because i use this just for the video and have all the tools on my primary screen The IPS is important to me because often the monitor is at a weird angle you could say, so i dont get any color shifting. (at least i think IPS helps with that)
  11. Hello lads, i am currently searching for a secondary display, which will be most of the time used for content creation such as Premiere, CAD, C4D et cetera. So color accuracy would be pretty neat. 25 - 27 inches(Zoll) 1080p is also enough for my work. Some sort of IPS is a must and a really small bezel at the sides would be perfect. About the price, as cheap as possible, but as expensive as needed. I looked online and i had NO IDEA how much panels are out there , i really have no idea which are any good for there money. Some suggestions would be great :-*.
  12. Hello everyone , so goal is to stream a league of leagends spectator game, with some live footage of the players via OBS . The problem is that the ingame footage has a 3 min delay, there is no workearound for that. So i have to delay the webcam also about 3 minutes to sync it and upload to twitch. For some reason there is no feature in OBS to do that. (the max . delay for the webcam is 8000ms - 8s) So i would need another software wich has the webcam as an input and displays it 3 min later so i can capture this delayed videofeed with OBS again. At least this was my Plan, whatsover i havent found something like this. Please guys help me out here. thank you
  13. I already stuffed my case with pyramid foam wherever i could.
