Posted February 13, 2014 I am currently looking into getting a camera. I will be going on a few big trips this year (south america and road trip across the US) and I want to get something better than the camera on my phone to capture this. I also have a lot of DIY projects that I do and like to take pictures and the camera on my SIII is not doing it for me anymore. I have around $275 ( I know its a pretty small budget for a camera but I'm still in college and I cant afford much more than that at the moment) to spend and am unsure of what to get. I have been told that some of the used DSLR's at this price point will produce a much better image quality then any point and shoot as my price point, is this something i should look at? Any recommendations would be really helpful since i have no clue what to get and am new to photography in general.
 Posted February 13, 2014 I will admit I'm a bit of a Canon fanboy (so I'm coming in as a rep) but that's because I have used Olympus, Canon, and Nikon and I have to say I like the results I have gotten with Canon the best. I like the idea of the used DSLR as well as the power shot g15, would you say the DSLR would have a better picture quality?
