I don't know how to put this but I have a laptop with a GT920m 2 GB, in it and ran pretty much whatever I threw at it (video editing, lightroom, gaming [low/mid/ex-high end], YouTube, 3D animation etc.) I pretty much do everything on it and it proved it's self worthy all the time. Now to the actual question.... What would be the desktop counterpart of the 920m? I've always wandered and never found a good answer.... Not even Google gave me something somewhat clear

Hello all, I'm trying to decide if I should go with the Gigabyte Gaming 4G RX 580 4GB, the Asus Dual GTX 1060 3GB, or EVGA SC Gaming GTX 1060 6GB. This is a system I'm going to be building at the end of the summer and it will have a Ryzen 5 1600 for a cpu. I plan a playing GTA V, DOOM, Skyrim Remastered, and Fallout 4, and Subnautic. I'm also going to be play League of Legends and CS:GO but I know any of these cards will smash that but I'm also plan on doing live recording/streaming. My budget is about $200-$215 but I'm really looking for a good performance to dollar ratio. Any thoughts and opinions would be great! EDIT: I'm plan on playing at 1080p 60fps because I have a good enough 60 hz TN panel monitor I could use that I'm currently using as a second monitor to my laptop and I don't have the budget for a new monitor. At the most I would stay at 1080p and go up to 120 or 144 hz if there was a really good deal.

I'm as excited as the next guy about AMD's new lineup of graphics cards/CPUs (mostly the CPUs), but I don't see myself switching. First I'll point out the BF1 demo Linus saw at CES in his AMD Ryzen video. He tried to hide it, but you could see the game in the 70s on the intel platform and 50s on the amd platform. This was with intel's 6900k which, to most, would seem like it would be better for gaming than a 6700k, but it's per core performance is slightly lower than its "lesser", but more capable, skylake buddy. Vega, looks cool too. Though we didn't get to see an amd/intel in the graphics department, that Doom demo was pretty impressive. I don't really have a "team", but I do use an intel CPU because they are objectively better, and I use an Nvidia GTX 1080 because it, aside from the titan XP, reigns king over all cards. For me to switch to Ryzen, the processsor would have to beat out my 4790 and be under 200. For me to switch to vega, well, it would have to out perform the 1080 and be under $400. If I was building a new computer, and I had to pick between vega and a 1080, they would have to be in a few frames of each other and vega would have to be less, but not by much, maybe $50 USD. What would it take for YOU to switch?

So it is tax time and I'm looking to upgrade my GPU in part because 1. My RX580 4GB Card is a loaner, and 2. It's Tax Time. So I'm looking to spend no more than like 150.00, and I mean a used card would probably be ideal, but scrolling through Ebay I found this : Sapphire Nitro R9 Fury: https://www.ebay.com/itm/SAPPHIRE-NITRO-R9-FURY-GRAPHIC-CARD-HBM-MEMORY-WORKS-GREAT/184161359656?epid=15035986747&hash=item2ae0df5728:g:4ngAAOSwAutdJJDf but seeing as both my graphics card and this one are 4GB cards would I notice much of a difference? I've also seen a bunch of Factory Refurbs, is that necessarily a thing to avoid?

I am looking for a new video under$900, that is team green, and that could turn off all the lighting on the video card.

Hi everyone! This is my first post, but I've been following the forums for a few months now, so I guess I kind of know how this works.. A little self introduction.. I'm from Chile and have been mostly gaming on consoles until some time ago when I ended getting hooked on WoW and then developed some 'need' to get into PC gaming for better everything (it's not so cool to play on my company's macbook pro hahahah) I've been saving for some time to get my rig, right up until last month that I had to spend most of it on my car to get it safely running again =( All pc parts are much more expensive here than in the US, an example would be an i7-8700k that costs here US$523 at the cheapest! I'm writing this to get some opinions from you experts, so please get at it! I'm making my first ever build and, before everything else, I'm already set on an intel processor and an nvidia gpu, I guess I need some better insight if this will suit my needs. Here's the list of what I already bought and what I'm still missing: What I have: - 650W 80+ gold PSU (Thermaltake 650W Toughpower Grand RGB) - CoolerMaster Seidon 240v AIO http://www.coolermaster.com/cooling/cpu-liquid-cooler/seidon-240v/ - Corsair Carbide Series Clear 400C case - Some decent 1080p60 monitor I can't remember right now - Razer keyboard (not mechanical) and mice (DeathAdder) Most of this I got on sales at great prices (here anyway) some time ago while saving for the main components... What I'm missing (as planned as of now): - Asus ROG Strix Z370-E motherboard (I really care about wifi) - Intel i5-8600k - Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming - Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 (2 x 8GB) - cheapest 2TB HDD @ 7200rpm - cheapest 250GB SSD So, the main purpose of this build will be gaming, I'm gonna be playing a lot of WoW (yes, this build is total overkill for that), I'll finally be able to play Skyrim and will be getting into some FPS titles (mostly battlefield 1) and PUBG has my attention too. Aside from gaming I want to have a virtual machine (or dual boot?) with linux to work on some development projects (I'm a web developer! trying to get into game dev as well). I don't really plan on any streaming, maybe I'll want to record some gameplay. I'm also planning on buying a 1440p G-Sync monitor in the future, at least a year from now.. they are WAY too expensive here and only a few models are available Last I checked the cheapest one was at about US$1000, so.. yeah. Also, I won't be delidding the CPU, can't risk it breaking because I won't have enough money to replace it so my plans for OC are somewhat conservative, probably at MCE speed but with a manual OC, if the cooler allows it. What do you guys and girls think? does it look ok to you? thanks for your input!!

Sorry if this in the wrong section, didn't know where to post it. I am doing research right now on what is considered a budget build gaming rig. I am fairly knowledgeable in Nvidia and Intel but didn't know what team Red has to offer if I was looking to make a budget build PC.

Hello people! i have made a very dumb mistake! For i have bought a EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC !, well that's not the mistake, it my impatience to get a new graphics card(upgrading from a Power Color R7 260x) without doing research. finding out the hard way that my AMD FX 6300 bottlenecks the crap out of this card!...... SO, i have decided to just upgrade! (woo!!) I want to ditch AMD (sorry, you will always be my first, but its time to move on) and go with Intel. For the processor i was thinking of getting a Core i7-4790K, as it still runs DDR-3, I was thinking of upgrading to DDR4 but I have like $600 USD to spend. I have the storage and ram, just need a new motherboard, cpu and new ssd to sweeten the deal(because the ssd i have now is just garbage). here is a link to Pc Part Picker for the parts i was looking to get( http://pcpartpicker.com/list/n43Jbj ) I feel this is pretty solid from the processor, as what I seen this puppy can out preform the new Skylakes in a lot of tests. I also wanted to go with the motherboard because it matches my build the best, but if you guys can suggest better I will compromise if needed. Im going to try to get these parts buy Saturday, but i wanted a few opinions from fellow techies. Thank you for your time, Stinkycrackers

so, i have a built that started back in 2012 and was finished 2013. i'm reasonably pleased whit the components for what i paid. the reason i'm gonna make a new rig is because i wanna have a Lan pc that actually can pull through the resent games which my old one couldn't ( rip lan pc from 2010) if you read the specks on my current rig, you would probably think that i'm either an idiot or a rich idiot, which isn't far of. i'm going full out retard on this lan pc, but i gonna do it because i can. i got so much hardware so i don't need to save on making an pc that has the main funktion to pay taxes, buy stuff from the internet and write documents, as usually is the family pc. the fact that the rig i have now was basically brand new when i got them which means it's a very capable gaming pc, but i'm extremely pissed at how amd handels their software and i ONLY have bad experience with amds products for the last 5 years. the last lan pc died when the gpu killed the motherboard and cpu. the last rig i built that wasn't for me had a faulty "amd cpu" and all the annoying and buggy software levas you with frustration and makes the rest of the day miserable. so i gonna make a new pc with preferably a gtx card so i can take advantage of shadow play and other Nvidia exclusives. so i gonna go overkill with my new lan pc, maybe even make a combo unit by taking advice from LTT themselves by making a Nas & gaming pc in one. i suspect that the advice i gonna get is somewhere along the line :- just cheap out and upgrade what i have now and make an other cheaper lan pc, which i would have done otherwise, because it makes seance unlike what i'm thinking of doing. so, if i haven't made it clear inaf because i can't think clear in the milde of the night, i gonna turn this reasonably new gaming pc to a secondary but mainly in to a overkill lan pc so i won't have to upgrade the thing in the near future and make a new main pc which i gonna have my main accounting stuff and other accounts which i deem to important to get stolen and so on. and on the second pc i can have all my games on and use for all the other stuff i possibly could need it for that i wouldn't dear install on my main pc. so to the actual question (how not to write a post.txt) should i go with a gtx 970 and later get a second card to sli with if deemed necessary, go with any of the amd 300 series and see how it fears compared to the upcoming cards, or just wait intill the new cards are about to release. just before you roast me because of my poor grammar, i have really bad sight and and i also suffer from dyslexia.

Hi guys, so I currently have 1 GTX 970 in my rig, and it has been great to me, but after I upgraded to a 3440x1440 monitor, the single 970 struggles to play graphically demanding games at high settings. Especially Witcher 3, which I really want to play at max! So I've been thinking, should I just buy another 970 for about $330, or should I sell my current 970 and buy the 980Ti coming out in just a few days (June 2) which will be $799 minus however much I end up selling my 970 for? I know that buying an extra 970 will cost less, so that is not as much of a concern to me. I'm more concerned about the long run, particularly DirectX 12, where rumors are that SLI setups are gonna scale much better. Do you guys think that SLI 970's would be a lot better than a single 980 Ti once DX12 comes out?

So, I currently have a 280x but I think I will be able to upgrade to a 970 in 2 years, I got my computer (280x) about 3-6 months ago. So 2 years is the earliest I can think of upgrading so I need to make use of what I have bought. Main Question(s): Will it be worth upgrading to a gtx 970? For how long will the 970 be as great as it seems to be in the present (do you think)? Background info: I have fx 6300 and I play on a single 1080p monitor screen and a 600w psu. (Might be 550 I am not entirely sure, but on my shopping list if I go back and look it says 600w) If that matters .. Edit: Apparently 970 will be considered old by that time. Anyone knows how often they release new/special gpus? I thought it takes 5 years or something. Perhaps that's only for cpus.
