I'm not sure if this is just for reporting bugs and getting help or if I am allowed to post the fix, and before anyone asks, Yes I did report the bug and the fix to Elgato before typing this. 2 Days ago, I found a bug with the StreamDeck software, I called an Elgato Technician at the time because I was unable to fix it after a couple hours troubleshooting, but neither of us were able to find a cause let alone a solution. So, today, like the curious technician I am, I decided to try and find the issue and fix it myself and, I did, kinda. The issue: After an attempt to gain a new token for the Twitter integration, the software suddenly crashed with the Twitter pop up being blank. The crash type ranged from a simple "not responding" to a full system lock up to a BSOD, what it chose to do was very random. I have however found a solution to the issue. The reason we were not able to diagnose this before is because the title of the pop up was just "StreamDeck" so it was not possible to know which Integration was trying to cause the issue, the only way I know it's the Twitter integration was after the fix and trying to reimplement the Twitter account, which caused another crash. The Solution: By installing an older version of the software onto a SEPERATE DRIVE and not to the default directory, opening it, then closing it after the crash, then installing the latest software to the SAME directory, you are able to somewhat bypass the Twitter blank pop up, it still opens but you are able to close it now. By doing so, you should have access to the StreamDeck software, go into your settings and delete the Twitter account you have connected to it. This does mean that you will not be able to use the Twitter integration but all other APIs should work just fine. Hopefully after my email to Elgato they will fix the issue in a patch, but for now, this should at least get you back up and running with the StreamDeck. I hope this helps someone and not just me, I saw that other people have had a similar crashing issues on Reddit. Update: Turns out this isnt just an issue with Twitter, I cant seem to get anything other than the default programs of the Streamdeck to work. I will try and get this working and update the fix, but for now, at least the defaults work Update 2: The crash seems to just be random, but it has something to do with the 3rd party applications.

Hi i have an elgato streamdeck and trying to connect vlc to it via vlc remote add in for streamdeck, i entered the LUA settings in VLC advanced preferences to localhost, port:8080 under LUA under Main interface, but whenever i press a play/pause key on stream deck for vlc remote, it says the status to be “error connecting to vlc server” Any help is highly appreciated thanks

Hello, I am wondering if there is a ceiling light out there that is able to be controlled via an elgato streamdeck? I came across this thing called a switch bot (https://www.amazon.com/SwitchBot-switch-button-controlled-compatible/dp/B07B7NXV4R/) that can turn on and off lights via an app and/or something called IFTTT. Im not really sure what IFTTT is but I think it may be able to be controlled via a streamdeck from the little I could figure out about it. Got to thinking that a smart light might be better but I have no idea what I am looking for or if what I want to do it possible with a ceiling light and would appreciate any help or advice. Just lookin for a nice bright ceiling light i can turn on and off with a streamdeck and possibly also set it up to turn on/off at certain times. RGB would be cool but not necessary. I was looking into phillips hue but they seem to only have actual lightbulbs, i currently have this thinner LED light lighting my room now and am trying to find something similar to that. Any help or better understanding of this task is appreciated.

I finally got my setup clean enough to take some pictures! I just moved into this space a few weeks ago and I am really happy with this setup. To the left of this I have a small two monitor guess setup with a PC that runs my plex server aswell. I was looking into getting a Stream Deck recently when I watched Taran's review of the Loupedeck again and started to wonder if they had made any of the changes he requested. I was going to get the normal-size stream deck so I am now looking at the Loupedeck live. I like that the live has more hardware than the stream deck, so there is a greater chance that more features can be added, and I like some of the API integration (I would mostly use After Effects and Spotify) and contextual pages. Other than that, I would mostly use it to control discord, open some programs/files, take screenshots, and other misc stuff like that. My main questions are: Does the live support custom actions like the stream deck does (open a program/script/file), does the live let you customize the name/icon of existing actions, does the live have nested folders or something like that so I can have unlimited actions organized neatly, has the haptic feedback been fixed, and has the software been fixed so it isn't as buggy as it was during Taran's review? I'm mostly looking for which one has the most options for customization and power, and considering that the loupedeck has more physical hardware, if these things have been fixed I think I might go with the loupedeck live.

Hi! I have a 7 inch touchscreen model MPI7001 that I bought a long time ago for a raspi project but it's just laying around now. I was wondering if there is a piece of software that could help me transform it into some kind of homemade StreamDeck. So I could have tiles with images and subfolders just like the deck but with a touchscreen. I can't really have another keyboard for macros and it would look nice on my desk. If anyone knows about something that could do something like that I would be really thankfull. Thanks!

i used a vb audio cable to connect my streamdeck with my mic but now i want to hear the streamdeck too! where do i have to go or is there a program for it? i switched on the streamdeck to vbcable input in the appvolume and devicesettings at output! i got it to work so my friends can hear me and the soundboard but I dont hear the soundboard! and using stereomix doesnt work! if i try the streamdeck doesnt get the sound to discord to my friends!

i am experience a problem! i want to use a virtual cable with my 2020 usb+ and my streamdeck over to discord but whenever i put the virtual cable to listen to my mic and have in the windows audio settings the streamdeck output to vcable! my problem is i have made it work so that discord could recieve the sounds from the streamdeck but my mic didnt got picked up! it was either streamdeck or mic! and i restet everything to normal to go over the steps again(dont know how i got the streamdeck comunicating with discord, pressed a few buttons on good luck and somehow it worked , but not mic)

Hi All... After watching the latest WAN show and hearing Luke having issues with StreamDeck and older Windows versions, I decided to whip up a quick compatibility tool for running StreamDeck on Windows7/8. Why doesn't StreamDeck work on older windows versions?: StreamDeck is built against the Visual Studio 2017 'Minimal' runtime, which includes 'Shims' for certain api calls, since this is one of the newer runtimes, it contains a few functions which aren't available on Windows 7 or 8.1 out of the box. The runtime is required when building C++/Native applications using Visual Studio. How does the compatibility tool work?: First, it requires you to download the latest MSI installer for StreamDeck from Elgato's site (https://www.elgato.com/en/gaming/downloads). Then, it bootstraps the installer to allow for it to install onto your system. After installing, it will install the Visual Studio 2013 runtime (If not already installed). Finally, the bootstrap will place 3 'Shim' dlls into the StreamDeck folder, which wrap the functions required to run StreamDeck. The 'Shims' are linked against the older runtime and provide workarounds for the various missing API calls. Notes: If you have StreamDeck 'partially installed' from a previous attempt on your older OS, uninstall it first. Extract the zip archive first before running the tool. This is currently working as of 6/16/2018, should compatibility break again, hit me up with a message. Please note that this is in no way endorsed by Elgato and in addition, is provided AS-IS with no warranty provided. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. That being said, If you do give it a go, please post your results here. I have only tested the tool on Windows 7 (64bit, which is required anyways). However I do not see any compatibility issues with 8.1 using the same method... StreamDeckCompat.zip
