Hi, I've got a fresh build up and running but I see the motherboard is showing a Q-code 56 which suggests "invalid CPU speed or type." Not sure what's going on here. The system boots fine. Any suggestions? Hi Every one i was hoping to get some info about 1800X. i currently own FX-9590. main usage is for hosting virtual machine as a small lab for testing software purpose. i hope if any one tried running multiple VM and how is the processor perform note as it is a bit cheap the CPU only cost about 12000 of our currency that is a year saving so i need to know if i am making the right investment.

After 3 years of repairing and collecting PC's from recycling plants, I finally saved up enough to buy a super high end PC for editing, running lots of VMS, audio editing, Ang all kinds of gaming. I'm fairly happy with my build, but would love some input. Mostly, I just wanna know if I'm missing anything. Thanks! https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Watermace/saved/dznFTW

Hi, I'm looking to build a new computer with a Ryzen CPU as opposed to my current i7 build. I know I want an 1800x, but I am not sure about the other components. I am looking to spend under $2500. These are my questions/concerns. 1. I was thinking about buying a 1080 ti founders, but I have 3 1080 displays, and a 1440 display, plus VR. So, it would be nice to have more outputs, but I have no experience with SLI and don't know the performance changes with say, two 1080s instead of one 1080 ti founders. 2. I am pretty much up in the air on the board I want, I am going for a high performance build that is mainly black and white and those are my only concerns. 3. I am not familiar with how much RAM speed affects performance, especially with the new Ryzen chip set. 4. Storage, specifically the SSD for my OS, is rather unfamiliar to me. I do not know what the performance differences are for M.2 vs SATA vs PCIe, if it is even worth moving away from traditional SATA drives that is. 5. What kinds of power supply is needed for say, an overclocked Ryzen and potential SLI? Lastly, I have nice peripherals that I like already so that is not an issue. Also, I can handle the cooling part and anything else I did not include above. If you have any suggestions, feel free to suggest or help me learn a thing or two! I know I could google all my questions, but I wanted to try out the LTT forums after being a fan for so long. Thanks in advance!

ive posted this a few times but i havent gotten a whole bunch of help on a solution. I get really poor FPS in games, sometimes 7-30 it jumps around. Even when i turn the graphics down. I have a NVIDIA 1060 6GB MSI, MSI 370X Gaming Titanium, 32GB DDR4, AMD Ryzen 1800X, SSD Bootable, SSD Gaming, 4 HDDs for plex drives. I know the plex transcoder seems to take alot of CPU power but it has 8 cores it should be able to spread the load better. Ive had computers that werent as high end doing multiple processes and transcoding jobs and still able to pull 60 FPS solid. I have attached some photos. Lemme know what you guys think. Also my boot times are over a minute long. It takes quite awhile for the logo to even post too. I also notice sometimes my cores when in game stay at 2.2GHz.

I got ryzen 1800x and Asus hero VI as a gift . I might get GTX 1080 ti soon from someone as well . 1st is it good idea to sell them two parts and buy Intel in tern of long term solution and gaming performance and future proof. I am in UK and will lose some money by selling as it won't sell on original price. Let say intel is bad idea and I should keep amd. What case . Psu. Ram. Cpu cooler u recommend. Ram .... I was thinking of 3200 mhz 16 or 32 gb Psu.... I know evga is good thats all I know Cup cooler . Don't know if u should go air or liquid . I am afraid of liquid as it could leak and kill mb . Don't know if warranty covers anything. So confused on cooler . Was planning on corsair h100 but don't know if there is any other good cooler for same price. I am in UK and writing on phone so sorry for mistakes . For budget I would go as far as I need build a decent rig by t no super fancy like around 80 for case. Under 100 for psu . Around 150 for ram . And around 100 for cooler

Hi everyone, I'd like to know is Cryorig H7 air cooler good enough to cool my upcoming Ryzen 7 1800X CPU? I heard a lot of people say that an AIO is a much better choice but I don't do overclocking and at the same time I try to avoid wasting more money spending for another cooler. Thank you.

Hey guys, I'm trying to figure out a proper system to build for myself, I tried to make a build plan using the Intel 7700k but I've heard it's more for gaming while ryzen can be used for both gaming and productivity. I'm an architecture student and want to works such as CAD, 3D Modeling, etc. Hence, I would like to know which one of the cpus is better for my kind of work. Also I'll leave a list of the parts I've selected for the Ryzen build and I would like to hear suggestions for any part and for what part would you swap out a part and why. I've recently bought and put together my first computer, it's running very high end watercooling with a d5 pump-res combo and two 480mm rads from EK, temperatures aren't going to be an issue here. I've never overclocked a CPU before and I'm worried that I'll end up damaging it. I'm running the trydent z 3200mhz ddr4. What is the best stable overclock I can achieve on all eight cores and how do I go about applying that into the advanced BIOS settings. A step-by-step guide to follow on each setting would be perfect but any help is appreciated, thanks!

Hi, I am planning on building a PC but I am very confused about the state of CPUs right now. I want to be able to game on the PC but at the same time, I need to run design programs such as solid works, which uses multithreaded processes. After doing some research I found that while the new Ryzen launch is performing very well and has a high core & thread count, the 7700k performs much better on games (I play a lot of openworld action/adventure games such as Fallout & Assasins Creed). I need some guidance in terms of what I should be looking for in a CPU and what CPUs currently satisfies those needs. Thank you. P.S. The recent linus vids seem to lean toward the 7700k, but luke bashed it in an earlier video.

Hi 3 months ago I upgraded my motherboard, CPU and ram.The first problem I came across was that the computer was hanging up frequently / all the time for 10 seconds approx.I fixed this problem and moved the ram from dimm B1 and B2 to A1 and B1.Then I was rid of that problem. and the pc is lightning fast no problems in games. But still the problem that irritates me most is that I can only use Microsoft EDGE browser, chrome can I search on google with but will not access any other web pages. Opera starts fine, but when load a website, it will only load and nothing more happends. In addition, I have problems with Origin, Discord, Steam, Streamlabs, Xsplit etcall of these I have to restart several times to be able too log in, in the worst case, I will not get in at all and the computer will freeze when I log inHave tried fresh install windows 3 times, changed my network cabel, tried direct connection with my modem, tried a old PCI network card, same problem there and a wifi usb adapter. I dont have these problems with my 3 other computers inn my house... Have the latest driver from asus, and the latest bios update.Somebody has any suggestions PC Specs Mother board: ASUS ROG Strix B350-F Gaming, Socket-AM4 Cpu: Amd Ryzen 7 1800X stock clock Ram: Crucial DDR4 2400MHz 8GB 2x4GB 2400MHz (PC4-19200) DDR4 CL17 SR x8 Unbuffered DIMM, 288pin stock clock GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX960 2GB Turbo stock clock SSD: 2 Samsung SSD 830 Series 64GB 2.5 HDD: Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB PSU: Chieftec Super Series 750W PSU WIN: Windows 10 Home 64Bit 10.0 Build 17134 Bios: Bios dat 04/19/18 20:55:18 Ver: 05.0000D

I'm really not as tech informed as I once was and there's so many options that are confusing me, I just don't want to waste my money as I have a lot that I need to do right now and feel like I've already made some poor decisions already and therefore I'd really appreciate some honest advise on what I should do next. The goal: - To record any PC game maxed at 1440p without any lag at all. Yes you heard right, ZERO lag! I'm very OCD when it comes to dropped frames, I understand that most people are fine with 60FPS but not me! The moment I feel my frames dip I play much worse and my immersion is broken. The dream is to be able to record with as little tech issues as possible, I want it to feel like I'm just playing as normal without sacrificing anything. I used to record console gameplay on an old YouTube channel I had years ago, the experience was always the same with every game that I played as all the recording was done on a PC therefore I could focus my time on creating content rather than messing around with settings and tutorials. When planning this PC, I searched online for reviews for various CPUs... I came across one slightly misleading video that compared the 1800x with the 7700k, the 1800x did have less FPS than the 7700k however when recording the 1800x only dropped a few frames whereas the 7700k lost 20% of performance while recording with the same settings. I felt like Ryzen was the better option for me as I was mainly concerned about my recording performance and losing a few frames on average wasn't a big deal considering I believed I'd be able to record without having any issues. 8 Cores would be great for what I wanted my PC for, however it appears that less cores and higher clocks get better overall gaming performance. After a few months with the PC I understood that recording at 1440p is way more demanding than anticipated. I also realised at this time that my RAM is not intended to run at 3200mhz with Ryzen as turns out Ryzen is incredibly picky with RAM and I didn't know this at the time. The RAM wasn't cheap either so I knew that that I'd wasted money here. I spoke with the company that built the PC for me and I explained this issue that I have with the RAM, I stated that I would prefer if I could somehow sell the Motherboard/CPU back to them and pay for an upgrade to the x299 platform with a 8700k. This would ensure my RAM would run at higher frequency and I'd be able to get more FPS in games (from the 8700k). I could then build a separate PC with a 4k60PRO capture card so that I definitely wouldn't need to worry about losing frames while recording/streaming again. I am sure that my 1080ti is being bottlenecked in a lot games from the CPU. I was playing FarCry5 for a few hours and whenever a massive fight would kick off I can see my frames dip below 50fps... This feels unacceptable for this GPU and I really can't imagine this would happen if I had an intel chip at a higher core clock? Also see this video: The problem: ComputerPlanet has explained that they don't sell use parts, which is understandable. however they do have a partner that sells used parts, they have offered to pick up my PC for £25 and sell the Asus CROSSHAIR VI HERO and Ryzen 1800x for £282.00. They have given me the following prices for upgrades: - EDIT: Turns out these boards aren't even compatible with 8700k... ComputerPlanet are hopeless. ROG Strix x299 - £315 Asus Prime x299 Deluxe - £395 RAMPAGE VI APEX X299 - £429 8700K - £370 As I'm not the most tech literate, I don't know which of these boards would be the closest match to my current board the crosshair VI hero? That said I also don't know if this is worth doing as I've heard that Ryzen 2's are coming out shortly which might give me more FPS and I might not need to go through the hassle of selling my motherboard/cpu for pennies I could just sell my RAM and buy other RAM that I know would work with Ryzen as explained in my last post from helpful members on this forum. Any advise would be much appreciated, I've been putting off making any more decisions until I speak with people who know what they're talking about. Please help, Thank you!

So I was recently thinking of upgrading my system to a Ryzen Cpu and I thought the Ryzen 7 1800x looked perfect. I was wondering whether I could use the ASUS B350-F and Ryzen 7 1800x both out of the box with no BOIS updates? I would also appreciate if you could tell me whether my build looked good. Hi everyone! I've just upgraded to Ryzen 7 1800x from an i7 4790k + CM Hyper 412s (212 evo's cousin) as I need more horsepower for encoding. I bought a ARCTIC Freezer 13 CO for £25 which according to some research did a decent job with Ryzen 7 at stock clocks.. Much to my surprise (or should I be surprised) this cheapo Air cooler struggles to keep temps under control. Temperature tests were being checked through MSI afterburner and the Ryzen master utility (that people were saying doesn't get affected by the +20*c offset, even though that seems to no longer be the case) Running Prime 95 for 20 minutes had 7 threads fail with the first 2 failing after only 5 minutes. It seems when the CPU can't stay under 75*c it drops a core to reduce temps. While rendering in Sony Vegas, all cores remain active but the temps sit at 74-74.5 which is dangerously close to where they seem to stop working. In conclusion, so much for this "200W" air cooler... Can't even cool 95W cpu at stock clocks. I'm looking for advice on a different cooler to use that will control the 1800x, perhaps someone here has experience. For compatability, I'm running a SilverStone SST-TJ08B-E - Temjin (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005D9027E/) with Corsair LPX ram. Sadly it doesn't fit a 240mm radiator, only 120mm or pretty much any large air cooler. I have the HDD cage removed so horizontal space is not a problem. I was thinking of something like Cooler Master MasterLiquid 120 (£53) or ARCTIC Liquid Freezer 120 (£60) or one of the larger air coolers like Be Quiet Dark Rock 3 (£60). But I'm not sure whether a 120mm AIO is worth it at this price or whether I should get a beefy Air cooler. Any advice from experienced users is very welcome!

Hi everyone. Just got back from my vacation just to discover a new problem with my Computer, It suddenly shuts down without any pre warnings almost like hitting the reset button. I can play for hours before this happens and when it does happen I usually have to use the reset button a few times to get my system booted up again. When this error happens I get Q-code C0 and the yellow Dram light is the only thing lighting up on my motherboard. The manual does not list that code and when I look it up online I get everything from possible defective memory stick, Bad CPU, defective motherboard osv... so it can basically mean anything. My guess is that I got a memory problem since the Dram light is lighting up but I can run stress test's and play for day's without problems. It does not matter if i have a 14% overclock or not. My memory have not been overclocked yet. I really don't want to have a crash while rendering and editing stuff so all help is appreciated. Back in my early days of PC gaming and custom builds, I once had a system built by Cyberpower PC and was based on an AMD platform. It was powered by a Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition CPU and was cooled by a XSPC custom loop. This was my actual first true custom PC and it was the nuts back then! However, after the completion of Project A.Y.U in 2015, the pump in the old AMD system failed, causing the 1100T the overheat. It was dead... But now...for 2018...AMD is back. Welcome the Project Red Reboot! So this new build is going to (hopefully) be a 4k gaming powerhouse, based on AMD's Ryzen platform. I would do a parts list, like I did before with A.Y.U, but this time round I'll just show each component as I get them (and honestly, it was a pain in the a**e to edit the first post every time a new part arrived). Also last time, I got parts from several different suppliers, but this time I'll be ordering everything, unless otherwise stated, from Overclockers UK. Here's the first lot of components to wet one's PCMR appetite. The Asus ROG Crosshair VI Hero and the AMD Ryzen 1800X I do hope you all enjoy this revival journey with me.
