I bought a custom built PC, won't mention where, but it will arrive on Tuesday. However I ran across some articles and forums regarding the combination of the EVGA 220-GA-0750-X1 SuperNOVA 750 GA, 80 Plus Gold with RTX 30 series that mentioned this particular PSU cannot handle the transient power spikes coming from the card and can/will shut the PC down as a result. But then I also read that the revised version of this PSU which is indicated by the "X1" in the model code, has resolved this issue. In addition the place I bought the custom build from also performs a BURN-IN test, which states that they run the PC at 100% load for 24hrs, in which no issues occurred or at the very least reported to me. I called to get information about this BURN IN test, and they stated that its a full test of CPU/GPU etc, and nothing was shown as defective. My intention also is to undervolt the GPU when it gets here via MSI afterburner. So will this PSU work? Is anyone else using this PSU with the 30 series without issue? Please let me know.

Budget (including currency): 1,50,000 INR Country: India Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: vscode, discord, lots of chrome tabs, gaming. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Parts list: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/ahmedSidd/saved/77WY99 I'm planning to buy all of the components in this month, except maybe the gpu (due to availability). I'll use a cheap gpu for display output till then. I want to able to play at 1440 120hz+ I was trying to pick a psu from the psu tier list but I can't really seem to find a good power supply which is not out of stock or isn't very expensive even after searching for hours, it would be very helpful if you guys can point out some ps: The prices in PCPP are in INR but converted as PCPP has dropped support for india ans the cx650 (non-m) and rm750x both are out of stock everywhere

Hello there! And before you read, pardon my noob(ish) take on all of this. So I really only joined this forum after years of lurking to get some answers regarding a PSU I bought for a build I'm doing. It is the Corsair CV650 80+ Bronze, and there a serious lack of reviews on this. I've had to scour forums from everywhere just to get a bit of reassurance that this PSU is unlike the 550 and 450 models in the same range, with it apparently using better parts than those, (something about DC-DC) and according to the tier list it falls in the B tier (entry level gaming system) which my build is going to be. The rest of my components are: Motherboard: ASUS TUF B450M-PLUS GAMING - AMD RYZEN MATX DDR4 MOTHERBOARD CPU: MD Ryzen 5 2600 3.4GHz 6x Core Processor RAM: Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) White Vengeance LPX DDR4 3000MHz Memory GPU: Palit NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 6GB StormX Turing Graphics Card CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper H412R CPU Air Cooler Fans: Corsair AF140 Air Series, 140 mm LED Low Noise Cooling Fan - White (Dual Pack) Storage: x1 500GB Crucial MX500 2.5" SSD / Solid State Drive, x1 Toshiba P300 1TB 7200RPM 3.5" SATA HDD 'Bulk' Case: CiT Zoom, Black, Mid Tower Chassis, Window, ATX, MicroATX, Mini-ITX, HD Audio, Mic In, 2x USB 2.0, USB 3.0 This is a budget build, literally building it for my girlfriend who is stuck in isolation because of COVID-19. Maybe some of these parts are not "ideal", but I'm somewhat strapped for cash so I can't really afford to buy a better PSU based off the Tier list as they've all jumped up in price on Amazon (UK), or everything is out of stock. However, I only bought this 650 because of the tier list throwing it in the B tier...and yes, I know, never cheap out on the PSU. I read bad things about the VS Corsair PSUs, and some have compared the VS to the CV series, etc... All in all, I'm confused at how decent this PSU is. It's not top tier, I know that, but will it run everything listed above? My girlfriend is a gamer, but mostly single player games (e.g Witcher, Dragon Age, etc), doesn't usually run multiple games and software at the same time, and isn't planning on overclocking. Maybe throw in light workstation use for Photoshop every now and then. I personally figured 650 is enough headroom just in case. So, is this PSU good? Am I in for a bad surprise? Will this all run smoothly as long as she doesn't push it to run a nuclear powerplant? Anyone used this and lived to tell the tale? It shouldn't explode, right!? Thank you!

So 2019 was my biggest computer modernization op I have ever done in my life. I bought a Gigabyte RX 570 Gaming Windforce 4GB this week and cannot wait to plug it in. Except I need to upgrade my PSU or that my USD 133 investment will evaporate like a mothballed airplane. I really need of a good PSU that will power my i5-4440 and the RX 570 without transforming my whole rig into a discount explosives ordnance. At least until I can replace CPU with Ryzen 5 2600/3500 (if it exists)/3600. I currently have a Silverstone Strider Essential 500WI wonder if Silverstone makes a Spare or a Mage series PSUs I can blow USD ~119 as I don't f**k with electricity here are my best choices for a PSU (prices are from where I live): [Tier ??] Silverstone Strider Gold S ST65F-GS Fully Modular - USD 83.4 (I'm not sure where this one sits in the PSU Tier or it's overall quality as this specific variant is a 2018/2019) [Tier B] Corsair CX550M (Grey not the junk green) - USD 80 [Tier A] Cooler Master MWE Gold Fully Modular - USD 94.2 [Tier A] Cooler Master MWE Gold Non-Modular - USD 76 [Tier B] Cooler Master MWE Bronze Non Modular (the >=650W variants with DC-DC) USD 70.2 [Tier A] Seasonic Focus Plus 550W - USD 94.2 [Tier A] EVGA 550GD - USD 85.5 [Tier ??] FPS Raider II 550W - USD 62 (IIRC the Raider in the Tier list is the crappy group regulated one, Raider II is DC-DC but IDK about that) I'm just asking a few questions: -What is the best one in terms of price/perfomance (especially a rig with a Radeon GPU slapped in it)? The one where my money does not hurt that much at the same time gives my PC quality power without turning into a discount timebomb as I repeat. -Should I get modular? I do have a messed up case which the PSU placement is very weird. -If I chose any of these PSUs, do I need good AVR (the ones sold in Handyman-type stores)? If yes do I need to get something like a servo-type? I live in an area with fluctuations during storms or "peak hours" but not that often. This is primarily a gaming station so UPS is secondary. -Is it safer to plug any of the selected models to surge suppressor without AVR? -Should I get a better one that all in the list (i.e. TXM 2017) if my budget is within specified? -Is 550W good for RX 570? OR I need to go 650W? FYI no overclocking. Appreciating all feedback in advance. A HardOCP or Jonnyguru review link (if any exist) is 120% better.

So I want to upgrade my Asus ROG G20AJ Specs: https://www.cnet.com/products/asus-rog-g20aj-us002t-sff-core-i7-4790-3-6-ghz-8-gb-1-tb/specs/ It comes with a 230w + 180w power supply. I'm assuming the 180w is the dedicated GPU power supply. I'm trying to upgrade it to a 1070ti mini without doing anything to the power supply. There are a lot of people that are telling me that I need at least a 650w power supply and other people telling me It'll work fine. Any knowledge/help is very much appreciated.

Help with choosing PSU for i7 4790k, SLI GTX 970 G1 Gaming
Darkemis posted a topic in Power Supplies
Hello, I'm new to the forums though I like to lurk LTT and now it's time for me to ask for help from you good and experienced folks. I'd like to mention that I'm totally new to OCing but not PC building as this is my 2nd build with first build having lived for 8 years now and counting, alas it's time to upgrade. I'm planning on buying the parts this week the sooner the better, however I'm facing a possible issue with PSU choice. I've watch a few reviews, discussion boards and so on about what PSU to pick for SLI GTX 970 G1 Gaming along with i7 4790k, but the thing is every discussion I check has different... situations so to say. My situation is that I plan on playing a lot of video games, editing some videos as well as giving a streaming a shot down the road when internet speeds get increased in the near future by going VDSL with my current ISP. Now the issue I'm facing is that I plan on OCing i7 4790k and SLI 970 G1 Gaming cards, but keep in mind it's not likely that I'll go into extremes with OCing but then again I won't go easy as well, somewhere in the middle, a balanced choice if you will... Anyway, as I said I'll OC processor and two GPUs and my parts that I picked are http://pcpartpicker.com/p/gWyKMp So according to those discussion boards people suggested 850-860 platinum PSU for OCing GPUs, but there was no mention of OCing processor as well, so In my case, with no extreme OCing, will the PSU I picked be sufficient enough or do I need to look for 1000W? Please go easy on me and just to make it clear, every part on the list is set, there won't be changes made to the shopping list, just PSU at this moment is required. When you make a suggestion keep in mind that some PSUs are not available here so along with main suggestion mention a few alternatives. EDIT: Oh right, price range... I'd like to keep it sub 230ish USD, since parts here might cost more than what's in USD. EDIT 2: Also I forgot to mention that I'm from Europe. Thanks in advance folks and since I'm at work, I might not be able to answer right away so don't think I won't be watching it.- 9 replies
