Has anyone else in the LTT community run into the issue with the Pixel 3 randomly bricking on its own? I had a pixel 3, basically vanilla phone, just randomly brick last week. The is charged, and charges on a wireless charger, but the screen won't turn on. I know the phone is on, as I am able to plug it into a computer where it registers as "QUSB_BULK_CID:0402_SN:#######". Apparently, that is the basic Qualcomm bootloader that cannot boot into the Google image of the Pixel, leaving the device useless. Some have suggested if Google releases the firehose file/software, owners could fix their own phone. There are several other places this has been referenced, and it appears that google is aware of the issue, but has not taken any steps to resolve, and it has been happening at least since June of 2021: https://www.engadget.com/pixel-3-edl-bricking-issue-163056633.html https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/192008282 https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/fix-pixel-3-qusb_bulk_cid-xxxx_sn-xxxxxxxx.4205331 https://www.androidpolice.com/2021/08/31/pixel-3-and-3-xl-phones-are-getting-stuck-in-edl-mode-and-seemingly-bricked/ It seems rather suspect that these phones would start "randomly" having this issue around the time of the Pixel 6 release. I have spoken to a few pixel owners that unknowingly have had the same issue, but chalked it up to a broken phone, and decided to purchase something new.

Now judging from the title, the winner is gonna be a no brainer but here me out. So my older brother is gonna get the XS Max and give me his iPhone X for free. My samsung s7 edge has been a really bad experience sadly. The Google Pixel 3 XL is a week away & I'm trying to decide if: I should get the iPhone X for free but then that means I switch to iOS I should get the Google Pixel 3 XL and go from Touchwiz to stock android but I'll have to pay by my own money & money has been extremely tight for me as of lately Can anyone help me out? I wanna be convinced to stay on android but i'm just not sure if I should or get the iPhone X & wait a few years for something crazy

Hey boys and girls, today I received my Google Pixel 3 and I discovered that the upper half of the display is ping and the lower half of it is yellow. The weird thing is that I watched and read many review about the Google Pixel 3 / XL and no one is talking about this issue. In fact I read lines like: "There are no such problems with the display like with the Google Pixel 2 / XL." So I searched for this issue and I found a very good Reddit post: And I also found a video about this issue: And this is what it looks like (also linked in the Reddit post). In my case I have the issue which is shown in the middle. Apparently people bought up to seven phones to get one without any display issues. Do you have the same issue?

Disclosure: I am the original poster of this thread over on the Pixel User Community forums. https://productforums.google.com/forum/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=footer#!topic/phone-by-google/leO9GYO2irA;context-place=forum/phone-by-google ---UPDATE - Nov. 19th, 2018--- "Owen Williams1", a Pixel 3 owner who has repeatedly been refused an RMA, has apparently given up on Google. Owen has been one of the main users who has been trying to figure out what is causing the blinding bug. Based on his research, one possible cause is that the firmware for the camera hardware is getting stuck in a strange, unrecoverable state. This state isn't entirely bricked, as the official Google Camera app can access the hardware safely. If a different application attempts to access the camera hardware, it locks up until the phone rebooted. In an article he posted here (LINK: https://char.gd/blog/2018/google-refuses-to-acknowledge-a-crippling-pixel-3-camera-bug ), Owen details his experience with Google's customer service. He claims that Google have refused to give him an RMA for reasons such as having an invalid IMEI number or that the camera bug is a known issue that they aren't RMAing, but that has an incoming fix. Unfortunately, Google has yet to publicly explain what the bug is, or when a fix will be published. This is on top of other users who are reporting that Google is being stingy with repairs and other warranty replacements. ---UPDATE - Nov. 8th, 2018---After a bunch of user collaboration, the Pixel Users Community has possibly found a few breadcrumbs that might help explain what is happening. Debug logs pulled by one user show that there is potentially a sensor that is getting stuck in a strange, unrecoverable state. Additionally, it has been found that the camera hardware is returning an invalid process id. While this information is interesting, it does not actually solve the mystery.Additionally, users in the thread are reporting that Google is aware of the bug, and that they are working on a fix. Currently estimates seem to be aiming for some sort of fix in December, but this has not been publicly confirmed.Lastly a community manager from Google has posted a short response in the original thread, linked here (LINK: https://productforums.google.com/d/msg/phone-by-google/leO9GYO2irA/NXlejXBRAgAJ ). The response does not provide any actual information about the bug, just that Google is aware of it, that they are working on a fix, and that they may be reaching out to users for additional information about the issue. ---ORIGINAL POST CONTINUES BELOW--- On the Pixel 3, when any application other than the in built flashlight or "Camera" app tries to use the cameras, the hardware itself seems to crash. From this point, any application that tries to use the cameras will only show a black screen, and likely crash, including the "Camera" app and the flashlight button in Android. Functionality can only be restored by rebooting the device, but even then, any attempt to use the camera outside of the "Camera" app will just crash it again. To my knowledge, I am one of the the first people contact Google about this issue. I went through 4 different techs, each passing me off to another department because they didn't know what was going on, i.e. "This isn't an app problem, so let me transfer you to a hardware specialist", "This isn't a hardware issue, let me send you to an app specialist", "This isn't an app problem, but let's factory reset the phone to be sure.", then finally with a different tech (because I lost contact with tech 3 by resetting the phone) "Let's just replace your device." In this process, I demonstrated the issue to the techs twice through Android's screen share mode in the support menu. I can confirm that this affects every app that tries to access the camera hardware, including Twitter, FB Messenger, Hangouts, and even Google Translate (so much for that cool real-time image translation). Google is also taking their sweet time to actually get me my replacement device, as their original promise of having it "on the 26th to the 29th", was missed entirely when the device didn't even ship until Monday morning, with an updated delivery date of this Wednesday. Other Pixel 3 owners have also reported similar issues in the thread I made. However, it now sounds like Google is no longer sending replacement devices, and is instead telling them that this is a "known issue". TL;DR: The Pixel 3's fantastic camera is crashing, and Google seems to have no idea why. EDIT: Fixed the link EDIT Nov 18, 2018: Added update

I am looking for a new daily driver since my current phone is a damaged iPhone SE that the side of the screen can't work anymore my current cell provider (ROGERS) gives me the option for a pixel 3 or a iPhone 8+ and I am leaning towards the Pixel 3 for the camera since I am always on snapchat and instagram a lot. Current apps I use Instagram Snapchat YouTube and the occasional game or two. -- I also like the idea for USB-C which is nice and Android Pie is a nice Operating System which I can modify to my hearts desire. Anyways tell me if I should stay with my choice for the Pixel 3 or just get a iPhone 8+ and before someone says anything, these are my only two options that I actually want. so.. Yeah.. Thanks.

So, after months of leaks (opening of the flood gates, really) the Pixel 3 XL has officially been announced. I am in the need of a new phone very badly (completely bricked my Samsung Galaxy S7 and currently rocking an old and semi-functioning iPhone 5s) and have been patiently waiting for the new pixel to be launched. I love the stock android experience as I get frustrated with all the bloatware of other phones. I also don't want to try and get another phone with bloatware and try to remove it by rooting (how I ended up bricking my older S7). However, based on the specs of the phone and looking at its price and the mound of features and changes that are not great, is there a reason to get the new Pixel 3 XL, especially compared with the 2 XL and the upcoming Oneplus 6T? It seems like the real meat of the phone is almost the same as the 2 XL, so why even bother with the newer model? I am an extremely heavy phone user and I am worried that the 4 GB of memory won't be enough.

front page tech might be ahead on this one, when it stated that google might be trying to bamboozle us with all the pixel 3 XL leaks in the last couple of days. Apparently, Google has approached many of the youtubers, asking to use clips from their videos mocking the Pixel 3 XL leaks and the nasty huge notch that it sports. This sounds like google is going for a very specific narrative for their pixel launch event slated on October 9. There are strong suggestions now that there might be a device with some surprises up it's sleeve, possibly (and hopefully) ditching the notch for good. Also, the previous leaks might be fake altogether, and these might not be the real pixel XLs at all, supported by the fact the email address written on one of the accessories in an unboxing video was '....@googel.com' and google probably wouldn't screw up it's own email address. Are we actually going to have a product worth looking forward to? If nothing else, at least Google's stepping up its marketing game... Really stepping it up, actually!

Real world images of Google's Pixel 3 smartphone have leaked revealing that indeed the Pixel 3XL's little sister will be notch free. Specs look good, how do they compare to the previous generation? The pictures from the original post on Reddit are below: The Pixel 3 appears to be miniaturised version of the Pixel 2XL, which I for one am happy about, who needs a notch anyway? To jump right to it I am looking for a new phone and I usually a heavy phone user, doing a lot of things on it. I used to have a Samsung Galaxy S7 and destroyed beyond repair. With all of the leaks/opening of the leevee it is safe to assume most likely what that phone will be. A first question I did have is why, why buy the new Pixel 3. Hardware wise, it is almost the same as the Pixel 2 and the changes are mostly minor, especially when you consider they will run the same OS. Obviously the Pixel 3 is still "rumours" but it will probably run the same as the Pixel 2 XL with Android 9. I am curious about opinions compared to the newest Samsung Galaxy S9+ and Note 9. I am tired of all of the Samsung bloat ware eating up CPU and RAM usage and do prefer stock Android. Are there other phones to keep my out for? I won't be getting anything until October-ish, so waiting is an option. I am curious about the Asus ROG phone, because it is pretty cool, but I don't think my significant other would like the RGB back of it, not to mention it would probably be expensive.

I went from Nexus to OnePlus after the price jump, but the idea of getting the pixel software on a cheaper phone is really enticing. As the article states: Which is absolutely true. Unfortunately, Google is infamous for its wishy-washy attitude towards products and devices, and we may not ever see this make it to market, at least in its current form. There is also the possibility of a budget pixel cannibalizing the high-end, high-margin phone sales. After all, if the Pixel camera is so good because of the software, imagine what they could do with a midrange spec'd camera. That said, I'm rooting for Google here. If they release it and it isn't complete garbage (*cough*Pixel2Bezels*cough*) I'd bet a lot of people would be buying.

So we all know how there have been lots of leaks about the pixel 3. I think I just found another leak. It might be another android phone that's already out, but I can't say for sure. I found this from the "Google assistant on the road" video that Google posted. The image that I uploaded that shows the phone sitting in a cup holder in a car. And the phone looks a lot like the other leaks that have been floating around. The other two images I posted are already well known leaks. Google Assistant- On the Road.mp4
