What is the best OC for my GT 710?(I know it's a crap GPU but I'm saving money for the upgrade and I'm trying to make things a little better)
-
I'm a controversy with my AMD fanboy cousin. He is stuck to the genre of intel processors that had thermal problems on overclocking . I am younger than him, but believe that at a point Intel had thermal problems compared to AMD sometime in the last decade?? (When Overclocking??), but I feel that those problems were accounted for in the 9th, 10th, 11th gens. Maybe before. Looking for the era that Intel had some bad thermals compared to AMD. Overclocking involved. LMK.

I've basically never oc'd before. This was a short little attempt at something. What are your thoughts?

I'm having trouble with my PC. It randomly turns the screens blank. sometimes its just a flash other time they stay off. If they go off I can manually restart it or it will restart on its own. I would normally think it's a bad OC, but AMD does all the fine tuning automatically and it doesn't ever seem to remember my custom profile so it wasn't overclocked. I let the ASUS auto OC take care of over clocking the cpu because I know bad it could be if I tried to do it myself. I know because I play PC Building Simulator. Some may call it a budget build, the only person I know that would spend that much money on a PC is my brother. Any thoughts on what is causing the issues? Hi there, coming to you guys for help since you haven't let me down yet. I am currently running a R7 3800x on an Asus Prime x570 Pro motherboard. Its cooled with corsairs 280mm AIO with factory thermal paste. When I run R20 Cinebench to test my boost clock speeds it will only reach 4100mhz even and reach about 65-70 C. If I go into ryzen master and do the "auto overclock" it will bring me to 4200mhz but then thermal throttle at 95 C and stick around 4150mhz. What am I doing wrong here??

Hey guys, I'm building a gaming/workstation PC, will it be right to pair 2 1080 ti's with ryzen 7 1700x and also would 850 watts power supply would be enough or should I get 1000 watts. Will all 4x8 GB dimms over clock to 2933 MHz.

I remember that there was a video from Linus Tech Tips talking about overclocking a v3 series Xeon e5 CPU. Except that there are too few articles about overclocking a Xeon CPU. I wanna double check, can Xeon e5-26xx v4 CPUs be overlooked? If yes, how much can they achieve?

Which processor is best for gaming i5 7600k or I7 7700k for a Nvidia GTX 1080 graphics card What is the normal and overclock temperature of both i5 7600k and i7 7700k processor while gaming At normal clocking how much advantage is i7 having over i5 In my country it i7 7700k costs 100$ more than i5 7600k. Is i7 worth 100$ more for gaming

I've been tinkering around in EVGA Precision trying to boost my SLI 970 setup, but if I make any change at all (even boosting core clock 1mhz) it will crash in Benchmark Valley or 3D Mark Timespy. Even just playing with the voltage will cause a crash without changing the core or memory clock. The cards run fine together without anything adjusted in Precision, but the instant I make any change they crash during benchmarks and games. Temperature is not an issue, the cards never get above 45 degrees before the crash and the temperature doesn't seem to have anything to do with the crashes because when I have the default settings with a quieter fan profile they reach temps of up to 80 degrees with no issue. What do you think the issue is? I was under the impression that you could theoretically push voltage and boost clock speed infinitely as long as the temperature didn't get too high. I was wondering how high it is possible to overclock, ex; if you keep the temp low or freezing how high can you go? (No drug reference) can you theoretically infinitely over clock? And what are some physical limits? Is it different for different CPUs, GPUs, or other hardware? (feel free to copy and paste or use elsewhere word for word, I don't care)

So, I've not done much with over clocking. In fact, the most I've done is pushed an i5 4400 (A 3.10Ghz CPU) to a steady 3.6Ghz with the stock cooler just by increasing everything in the BIOS. I keep hearing that RAM speed is supposed to be adjusted when doing this? I've never noticed any issues but I'd like to know what this is about.

Who has a 1080 and where did they order it for a price that was not inflated by demand? I have been looking since release and nowhere is back in stock yet. Have the vendor cards dropped yet (ie, Asus Strix, EVGA FTW, ect.)? I'm looking for the FTW or Strix, and need one soon because I sold my 970.

Specs, fx 6300, 2x4 corsair ram, gtx 770 2gb gigabyte, corsair cx750, asrock 970 pro 3 r 2.0. I was playing my games fine and went on a holiday and my fps was really low in all games apart from BF4 which sorta works. (I tried CSGO, BF3, Insurgency and a few other games) It isn't just low fps but kinda stuttering with the fps. I have the same problem when I first boot up and go to play BF3, (But after a reboot it is fixed). Which is weird but manageable. I have had an oc om my cpu for a while now @4.4. I don't know if that makes a difference but please help me.

I'm well aware that increasing voltage increases the temperature of a CPU, but I'm more interested in what else it does. I see the term electromigration thrown around a lot, but I've never seen it explained. So how exactly does high voltage damage a CPU, aside from heat damage?

So i have an Asus M5A97 R2.0 motherboard with an fx 6300, its currently clocked at a really stable 4.82 Ghz, i was wondering if i could push it to 5.0 or higher on this board, with something like an h100 as my water cooler?

So the past couple of days I have been upgrading my system and I have decided to put back in my GTX 660 to run a secondary monitor and help render scenes w/ my 970. The issue is, ASUS Gpu Tweak will not allow me to OC my 970 without it trying to overclock my 660 with the same settings. Is there anyway to separate my cards OC?

So i was wondering which gpu would be better: the 750ti evga sc edition or the gigabyte 660 oc edition. I already know that the 660 has slightly better performance and there isn't a large price difference, but do you guys think that a 750ti might be better anyway since it has the newer architecture and will more likely be supported for a longer time as far as updates and what ever else nvidia may come up with?

Slowly overtime I have obtained an increasing pool of money to throw at my system. At the moment it is solely air-cooled, however if I can save enough cash I might invest in a top end water cooling solution. Running Win7 Pro 64bit Before my upgrade the system specs were: Asus ROG crosshair III formula AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Aftermarket cooler: Noctua NH-U9B-SE2 CPU Cooler w/Dual NF-B9 Fan Corsair Dominator 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 1600 Old school generic chassis Sapphire HD 5970 2GB reference Aftermarket cooler: Arctic Cooling Accelero TWIN TURBO PRO BenQ G2420HD 24" 2ms HDMI Full HD LCD Western Digital Caviar Green WD20EARX 2TB 64MB Cache SATA3 OCZ Vertex 3 120GB 2.5" SandForce SSD SATA3 Microsoft SideWinder X8 Mouse Generic black mousepad Microsoft Sidewinder X6 Keyboard Cooler Master Silent Pro M 850W Now my system specs are as follows: (all prices are USD at the time of purchase) ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 AM3+ $254 AMD FX8350 Vishera 4.0Ghz 16MB Cache Scoket AM3+ $246 Aftermarket cooler:Noctua NH-U9B-SE2 CPU Cooler w/Dual NF-B9 Fan $118 Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3-1866 CL9 $322 Fractal Design Define R4 USB3.0 Mid Tower Case $212 Sapphire Radeon HD7970 3GB Dual X OC $510 Sapphire Radeon HD7970 3GB Refernce $595 PCIe 2.0 16x Crossfire setup BenQ G2420HD 23.6" 2ms HDMI Full HD LCD $285 BenQ G2410HD 23.6" 2ms LCD $149 (2nd hand) AOC e2450Swh 23.6' 2ms HDMI LED Monitor $153 (2nd hand) Capable of eyefinity at 1080i resolution on each monitor using DVI inputs. Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB 64MB Cache SATA3 $151 OCZ Vertex 3 120GB 2.5" SandForce SSD SATA3 $242 Mad Catz Cyborg R.A.T. 9 Mouse $220 Razer Megasoma Gaming Surface $51 Microsoft Sidewinder X6 Keyboard $70 Cooler Master Silent Pro M 850W $270 3x40mm Fans intake 2x40mm fans outtake Turtle beach Ear Force PX3 Over the years the system has cost me over 4000 USD which is around $4700 in my own currency. Both GPUs have a core clock of 1Ghz and memory clock of 1.425Ghz The non reference OC card is very quiet and idles 5 degrees above room temp with stock fan profiles while at full load the temp maxs out at 73 degrees Celsius. The reference card will max at 90 degrees at full load and idles at 63 degrees with stock cooling profiles. So unfortunately when I am gaming I manually set the fan speed on the reference card to 55% - 60% (stupidly loud) where is will max at 72 degrees under full load. The configuration I have the cards in crossfire do vary in the pics and that is due to me not being able to afford a display port to DVI adapter as I am now flat broke. Ram is stably clocked at ~1466 mhz (9 9 9 24, 1.52 V) at the moment, could not make it stable above 1700mhz but I didn't really try if I am honest. CPU is stably clocked at 4.525 Ghz (220.75 x 20.5, 1.38V). Extended periods of time at 100% load on all cores using CLC genomics workbench the max temp of the cores is 60 degrees Celsius and idles around 21 degrees with an ambient room temp of ~18 degrees. Now for the pics. I am not really in to the making the system pretty with LEDs or matching colors etc. The pic displaying eyefinity is with Crysis 3 on the screen, the opening scene, that was at the highest settings which was not actually playable. On a single monitor at 1080i with all setting maxed out both my 7970s were at full load and frame rates were typically around 40-60 which is very playable. Now I am going to play some heavily modded Skyrim. Feel free to ask any questions about the build.
