Hello! I've been spending a lot of time trying to figure out some of the games that I can play with my friends at a party, but I haven't been finding many that appeal to my friends. What are some of your favorite LAN/couch games to play with your friends? Ideally I'm looking for 4+ local player games. These are a little easier to browse thanks to steam. However, a game that locally supports two+ players while being able to connect to another system of two+ players would also work, and opens up some more doors. I don't necessarily need a full list, just some favorites. On a side note, can anyone think of a fun little local game my girlfriend and I can play when she comes over? it can't be too mechanically difficult, and ideally have controller support. I used gang beasts for 8 players at my last "party," but people soon got bored (understandably). I've even considered buying another xbox 360 or two, and connecting them for 4 v 4 versus mode, but this is obviously costly. If you have any other ideas for a fun LAN/couch set up let me know I'm not fully set on a PC exclusive party. Thanks for helping!

Ca anyone tell me how to configure two keyboard in such a way so that system recognise them as different ; asking this because I have two keyboards one is PS/2 and other is USB each time I use them for gaming they're recognised as same ; any solution I have searched internet but I don't wanna use the Xbox controller software any other method would be appreciated Plus,I am currently playing xenoverse 2 I know that it's easy with Xbox controller but I like keyboards more so plz guys!!! Thanks

my absolute fondest memories are of my friends and me playing Halo or smash brothers together on the couch, laughing our asses off at the ridiculous stuff we would do and the funny game types we would make up. Now that I'm almost twenty years old, the fact of the matter is that things haven't changed. Sure, it's cool and all to be able to have the whole screen to one's self, but it just isn't anywhere near as friendly or fun. The best part of local multiplayer was that a person wasn't just playing another online game for stats, they were having a good time with their friends in the same room. When people do system links in which EVERYONE gets their own screen, It just stops being fun. At that point, you might as well have played online in different households. Now when I invite my friends over, we're almost exclusively limited to older games which supported four player local splitscreen. While these games are fun, we'd all enjoy playing new games as well. The most jarring news concerning local splitscreen, at least for me, is for Halo 5. Sure, everyone can hate on halo for becoming another call of duty, but Halo 5's beta truly seemed to turn that preconception around. I was honestly looking forward to getting the game for two reasons, the campaign and local splitscreen with my friends. When 343 announced that local splitscreen was being left out in favor of maintaining 60 FPS, I was honestly mad. The whole point of console was the different experience. Sure, I could play halo on my PC with insane graphics and a high frame rate, but then I couldn't have my friend sitting next to me as I beat him in king of the hill by driving a tank onto his head from above. On console, I could have him or her there with me, and it would be more fun than it ever could have been on PC despite lowered frame rate or graphics quality. Losing this in games, regardless of reason, is something that seriously sucks for me. I'm not big on the competitive online scene anymore, and I feel like I'm losing one of the things that kept me in gaming. Oh well, at least fallout 4 is coming, and that can't be ruined by removing local multiplayer.

For a few months now I've been having an issue whenever I use more than 1 game controller for steam games. I had searched thoroughly for a solution, and while I found people with the same problem, I never found the solution. BIG EXPOSITION EXPLAINING HOW I ARRIVED AT THIS CONCLUSION, FOR THOSE WHO MIGHT HAVE A SIMILAR PROBLEM Initially I had been using DS4's with DS4Tool, which makes them work like Xbox 360 controllers. This worked fine, me and my nephew were playing L4D2 splitscreen & Nidhogg no problem. The next time he came over he brought his Xbox one controllers to use. However only 1 controller was being recognised. We tried different combinations of controllers (all wired) and nothing worked. I noticed steam had to update, so I updated it, and the controllers started working again. However the next time he was over they had stopped working again. No L4D2 for us unfortunately. I started scrolling through other games I had to see if they would work. Nidhogg didn't work, but Speedrunners did work. As did battleblock theatre. So we played those, although I didn't understand why they worked and the others didn't. Whenever it was me on my own, my controller's tended to work fine, if there was only one player. However when I tried to play Sleeping Dogs with a controller recently, it wouldn't recognise it, no matter what I did. I bought an official xbox 360 for PC controller, but still, it wouldn't work. Exact same problem with South Park: the stick of truth, except I couldn't even play the game with a keyboard and mouse, it was only displaying for controller inputs. So the other day I was playing Speedrunners and I noticed that in-game when choosing a character my indicator was a little gamepad with a "2" inside. I thought it was kind of strange at the time, but later in the day I realised that my computer might think there is a controller plugged in when there really isn't. A phantom controller taking up the controller #1 spot. It made sense that Speedrunners had worked with 2 controllers because that game supports 4 anyway, as does battleblock. L4D2 and Nidhogg are only 2 player. I just went and checked, with only one controller plugged in, Battleblock reads it as controller #2. This also explains why both Sleeping Dogs and South Park hadn't worked, they were looking for inputs from the #1 controller, not #2. EXPOSITION OVER So whenever I have 1 controller plugged in, my computer recognises it as being the #2 controller, ie. Player 2 instead of Player 1. This causes issues when playing local multiplayer games and in some singleplayer games. I'm currently sitting in device manager, and i'm not sure what to deactivate. The controller is a wired, Xbox 360 for PC controller. Other USB devices I have plugged in are M/KB, an external HDD, and the link to my monitor. The controller is plugged into a port on the front of the PC while everything else is plugged into the MOBO, if that makes a difference. Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 Bit EDIT - SOLVED I went through and started disabling devices one by one in the device manager, under the human interface devices. I skipped the ones that asked me to restart the pc. Whenever I disabled a device, I started up Speedrunners to check if my controller was being registered as #1 or #2. I disabled one of the generic "USB Input Device"s, and Speedrunners was recognising the controller as #1. Sleeping Dogs is now working.
