Depending on my budget in the next few weeks I'm hoping to get either a 4080 or a 4090, but before I make the final jump I want to make sure my PC is good enough for either. I'm primarily aiming to do gaming on this PC, but I also plan on doing some rendering, video game development, video editing and illustration. The max budget I can go without the GPU is £1600. Hi, I'm looking for a laptop for both work and recreational purposes. I am a multimedia designer, I do illustrations, 2D animations, graphic design etc. I need a laptop with great colour accuracy and really good future proofed performance in gaming. I also don't want to be spending like crazy amounts of money, but if push comes to shove I guess I'll have to. So far the only one I think of really is the Gigabyte Aero 15, with a 24 gig RAM config for rendering animations. Other than that I can't find any other options. Please help with any recommendations! Basically: Great colour accuracy (don't need anything more than 1080p res) 1060 or higher gpu Lots of RAM for rendering At least 1TB of storage Decent price :\ Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I've already posted this question in another forum website, however I want to get as many different answers as I can. I'm a digital artist who is looking to expand into game design (and development) as well as music- however my current computer cannot run more than my run of the mill art programs and small, compact games (it will even lag on Vanilla Minecraft, of all things). I'm looking for the most affordable, best option for a computer that can handle 3D and 2D game dev, music programs and basic illustration software (I currently use Paint Tool Sai). It sounds like a lot but I want to get the most I can out of my interests. I would prefer a Desktop but a complimentary laptop suggestion works fine as well as I would like to bring some of my projects from my desktop to school and still be able to work on them. Thanks!

Hey LTT community! Who Am I? Hi I'm Harry! I'm a loooong watcher and lurker! I am also a Graphic Design/Illustration student in the UK with a keen interest in technology and vector artwork. As part of my work currently, in an effort to flesh out my portfolio, I have been creating piece of art like the ones below. This started back in June 2014 when I first made a case layout to plan a water cooled build for my H440 (still not finished it). The List The official list AND order in which request will be done. Do not dispute the list, it is God. Sapphire R9 Fury TRI-X Sapphire R9 280x Tri-X MSI GTX 980 Twin Frozr V Radeon R9 295x2 R9 Fury X R9 Nano Common Questions These are fake then, huh? Nope, these are 100% my own work and each one is made up of between 100 and 5000 separate shapes all layered up to create the image you see above! Soooo they're traced? Still nope, they are measured before hand and the individual components get made and positioned, this is why there are a few mistakes and differences, this allows me to make them more "artworky" and less technical specs sheet! I have seen these before, did you steal them? If you have seen these before then you either follow my Instagram or are part of the PCMR sub-reddit. I do post their occasionally and I got a reasonable amount of publicity last year for a Parvum (awesome case makers) build that I animated! Can I have these as a wallpaper? Yes of course! All of the images linked here are wallpaper sized (3840x2160) I have a 21:9/16:10/4:3 monitor though! All my images are completely vectored, if you need a custom size just shoot me a PM and I'll get back to you as soon as possible! I don't like the colour you used on X! Unfortunately tough! If I made every colour for everyone we'd be talking about terabytes of images that would get used once! Why is the layout for X not perfectly like the real thing? Because I don't trace! If I was to trace everything then sure it would be perfect but this is artwork and not circuit guides, I am not iFixit (wish I was though!) Can you do my build? Potentially! I want to ask the LTT community if they're interested in voting on build for me to make, these of course are 100% free and would be entirely decided upon by community feedback. How long does it take you? Depends on the complexity, a single GPU could take an hour while a fully animated build could take 2-3 days of work. When will it be done? If you're willing to pay, I can give you an end date. As I am doing this in my spare time for free, well I can give you a Linus deadline, "In the future sometime." What was that about animations? Ah I'm glad you asked! There are of course more but this is just a small sample and I dun't want to kill everyone's computers! What was this all about again? TL;DR I am looking for some feedback of build that you guys (LTT community) would like built in my style and then animated! I will obviously be seeking permission of the owner of the build before I go ahead but the aim is to bring a bit of art into the build log section maybe! I am also willing to work on build that are not finished or just concepts, thats how I planned out mine! ~ Harry

Hey LTT community! (Again) Sorry to mods if this belongs in off topic but it seems quite "On Topic" <3 Who Am I? Hi I'm Harry, I am a Graphic Design/Illustration student in the UK and all round Design nerd! I am currently studying illustration with traditional media so this is a good chance to get back to my roots with vectors! TL;WR Pick a build from the list below that you want to see made into an Illustration, super simple! What is this? Who are you? What is this treachery! This is a a result of this thread and also this Reddit post and the popularity my work has received from the tech community. Basically the following 3 (read 4) builds are all in the running to be made into illustration similar to the ones above BUT with full animated build log included. NZXT H440 "Hornet" Following images are ENORMOUS. Parvum S2.0 "Blue & Yellow"Following images are ENORMOUS. So what are the Builds? Let me show you! Enthoo EVOLV "Ocean" Themes: White with blue highlights, a real focus on showing off water cooling and less about the components. Paltform: Z97 MOBO: Asus Z97 Gryphon Armour Edition (Re-Coloured White) GPU(s): 2x AMD R9 Fury X's with EK-FC R9 Fury X Acetal covers Cooling: Apogee XL in Poly, Hardline tubing, EK HDC Fittings in White, 2x XSPC AX240 in White. Parvum S2.0 "Fire & Ice" Themes: Red and White just like the lord Parvum Intended. Paltform: Z97 MOBO: Maximus VII Gene GPU(s): 2x ASUS R9 390x with EK-FC R9-290X DCII Acetal +Nickel full blocks. Cooling: EK Supremacy EVO White Edition, Hardline tubing, EK HDC Fittings in White, 2x XSPC AX240 in White. CaseLabs Magnum STH10 "GODLIKE" Themes: White, Red, hundreds of fittings and super Aggressive. The ultimate watercooled build. Paltform: X99 MOBO: MSI X99A GODLIKE Gaming (Re-coloured possibly) GPU(s): 4x GTX 980 with Swiftech Komodo-NV-GTX9 Cooling: Apogee XL in Black, Hardline tubing, EK HDC Fittings in White, 2x XSPC AX480 and 1x AX360 in White. Possible RAM cooled as well to fill space. Community Choice Themes: Well you obviously don't like my choices so pick your own! ** Voting will close on the 19th of July ** The List The official list AND order in which request will be done. Do not dispute the list, it is God. Sapphire R9 Fury TRI-X Sapphire R9 280x Tri-X MSI GTX 980 Twin Frozr V Radeon R9 295x2 R9 Fury X R9 Nano This list is the final say, do not dispute or try to queue hop (unless you are a vendor and you have a new card that you want to secretly give me, that would be fine). These will be done at my discretion as they are done for FREE, please remember that! No Longer Taking Requests Common Questions Cut down on Forum spam! These are fake then, huh? Nope, these are 100% my own work and each one is made up of between 100 and 5000 separate shapes all layered up to create the image you see above! Soooo they're traced? Nope that's it! Pick a build, peruse my work and maybe drop a request! ~ Harry

Hi there, all, Although unrelated to this site in regards to technology, I just thought that it may be a fun idea to begin a topic that provides an area for artistic individuals within the community and those who appreciate art to thrive, focusing on user submitted artwork, showcasing artistic ability or imaginative designs. Consequently, I will begin by posting one of the latest conceptual pieces that I have produced utilising a mixture of mediums from pencil and pen in the early development stages to 'Adobe Illustrator' and 'Photoshop' in the final stages. Unfortunately, I have had to scale the quality of the file down exponentially but it still retains most of the detail. Feel free to upload your own designs so that we may simply admire or provide constructive feedback on your artwork.

Hello gurus of LinusTechTips, would you be so kind and look through the parts I've picked for my new Illustration / design / gaming PC. All suggestions, critiques and any other form of help is more than welcome. No parts are purchased yet. If the parts can be replaced with better and / or cheaper ones - please suggest that. Approximate Purchase Date: as soon as possible Budget Range: 1600 - 2000 USD // 4000 - 5100 Lt System Usage from Most to Least Important: illustration / graphic design ( Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator ), gaming, maybe learning ZBrush. Are you buying a monitor: No, I already have 2. Do you need to buy OS: No Preferred Website(s) for Parts: www.skytech.lt www.kilobaitas.lt www.varle.lt Location: Lithuania, Europe Overclocking: No - a stable system is a priority. SLI or Crossfire: No / Maybe a couple of years down the road. Your Monitor Resolution: Dell U2312 HM @ 1920 x 1080 + LG W2253V @ 1920 x 1080 Additional Comments: shooting for a stable and quiet PC. No need for internal color matching. Will be using Adobe Photoshop , Illustrator as main programs. No need for peripherals - I already have mouse (usb), keyboard (usb), speakers 2.1, Intuos 4 graphic tablet (USB), 2 portable Hdds (USB), Printer (USB). After 2 or more years I may be plugging in a Cintiq, but for the time being - still a dream. Why Are You Upgrading: This is a new build from scratch, because current 6 year old PC can't handle the dimensions and tasks as efficient as I would prefer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Parts Preferences: Here's the full part list I've currently researched and picked Parts separately from my country's website: 1) Intel Core i7-4770 I wont be overclocking, thus the K'less processor. 2) Noctua NH-U14S - not yet in the store. Chosen in stead of stock, because of hot ambient temperatures during summer and lower internal temperatures on heavy load. // Was looking at be quiet! Dark Rock 2 too, but reviews say Noctua is better. 3) ASRock Z87 EXTREME4 or Asus z87 - A . I'm leaning towards ASRock because of more USB 3 ports. 4) DDR3 Crucial Ballistix 16GB (2x8GB) 1600MHz CL9 1.5V 5) DDR3 Crucial Ballistix 16GB (2x8GB) 1600MHz CL9 1.5V Two kits of 2x8GB is cheaper than 4x8GB 6) SSD Samsung 840 Evo Basic 250GB // 840 Pro is too pricy for the current situation. 7) WD Black 3.5'' 1TB SATA3 7200RPM 64MB 8) WD Black 3.5'' 1TB SATA3 7200RPM 64MB I could loose this second HDD and go just with 1, for the time being; although a second ( or more ) HDDs / SSDs will be added when the need comes. 9) ASUS GeForce GTX 770, 2GB DDR5 (256 Bit) /// The Quadro series doesn't look so appealing price / gaming wise. 10) Fractal Design Define R4 Titanium Grey Main question here is - will the 2 fans included be enough to reach nominal temperatures inside the case ( especially during summer, when temps in the room reach 30 Celsius ). Seems like positive pressure is the way to go, because of the graphics card. ( http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/cooling-air-pressure-heatsink,3058-5.html ) 11) PSU Seasonic M12II-620 620W 80 Plus Bronze Not sure about this pick, I want a reliable ( PC is on 14 - 16 hours a day ), quiet, efficient ( if the efficiency saves more than 1 - 2 dollars a month ) and (semi)modular power supply. 12) SAMSUNG SH-118BB/BEBE DVD-ROM/ 16x / SATA / Black No fancy dvd / blu-ray player here, just a basic disc reading / writing. Thank you in advance!

Hello, Hoping to get a new PC build since my last 7 year veteran went kaput. Was hoping to get the best of the tail-end of this generation. Going to be primarily using it for gaming and some illustration work, nothing too heavy. I want to stick to the AMD/Intel combo so just any advice on improvements or efficient upgrades would be nice, thanks.
