Hi Linus Tech Tips forum i have a little concerning is cpu temps like 39-60c with like 3-6% usage in idle fine for an i7 6700k 4 cores 8 threads running under a Corsair Icue h100x elite rgb plus there is 3 intake fans in my case and 1 rear exhaust fan and the aio is mounted in top of my case

Specs: CPU: 3990x GPU: 2080 ti RAM: 8x16GB DDR4-3200 (14-14-14-34) G.Skill TridentZ Royal Silver MOBO: Asus Zenith II Extreme Alpha DRIVES: 2x 2TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus nvme 2x 2TB Corsair MP600 1x 10TB HGST 7200RPM hdd PSU: Corsair 1600W 80+ Titanium CASE: Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic XL COOLER: bequiet! Dark Rock Pro TR4 CASE FANS: 10x Corsair QL120 Since building this PC, I have had nothing but problems. Some of the big ones: - Main issue: the 3990x. This thing seems to run hotter than expected. I got a bequiet! Dark Rock Pro TR4 cooler because it looked nice, it cleared my RAM, it fit my Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic XL, and it seemed to perform well enough on paper for a stock configuration. Running the Ryzen Balanced Plan, my idle temps on the 3990x at bone stock clocks are 60C with 28C ambient (all case fans maxed; 64C with case fans at stall speed and just CPU fans maxed). 3/4+ of the CPU's cores are asleep and the rest are sub 1GHz—anywhere from .6-.834 volts. I double- and triple-checked the mounting, confirmed in Ryzen Master and CPU-Z that the voltage is fine, even tried my old Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate which failed due to not covering the full chip package. When installing the CPU, I used the provided torque screwdriver and tightened until it clicked one time for each of the three screws. I replaced the central bequiet! 135mm fan with a higher spec model and reduced temps by around 2C. http://puu.sh/FPHCn.jpg chiplet layout seems to suggest that coolers originally built for rzyen 3000 may not be optimal for threadripper 3000, especially ones with surfaces that go concave under mounting pressure. Original CPU cooler thermal compound application after a week: http://puu.sh/FPJil.jpg http://puu.sh/FPJiW.jpg - Today when trying to put my bequiet! cooler back on after testing the Water 3.0 Ultimate, one of the mounting standoffs on the motherboard popped off (http://puu.sh/FPI2z.jpg). When installing the cooler bracket, the motherboard component failed before the screw was tightened to its stop. I repaired it as best I could with JB Weld, but now any kind of standoff/washer that goes there would have to be filed down to account for the thickness of the epoxy. I tried applying it to just the inside of the mounting standoff, but this resulted in too little contact for the epoxy to hold. In desperation, I just sat the bequiet! cooler on top of the CPU, no mounting hardware at all whatsoever (case on its back, no glass), and now it is idling at 48-51C. I also noticed some type of burn marks on the CPU http://puu.sh/FPJxz.jpg Based on the thermal compound pattern and the CPU cooler stand off breaking it seems that the mounting pressure may be excessive. Is this possible? - Strix 2080 ti idled at 60C with all case fans maxed (28C ambient). With case fans just above stall speed, it stayed at 60C and its own fans increased slightly in RPM (~20% vs ~12%). This case has 6 intakes and 4 exhaust at ~40 CFM each. Gamer's Nexus specifically praised the Dynamic XL for its good GPU airflow. Tested it with EVGA's 2080 ti, still idles at 48-52C though, even putting it in a lower slot. It has that high idle clock glitch (https://forums.evga.com/RTX-2080-TI-FTW3-not-clocking-down-to-under-1350-MHz-m2877309.aspx) problem, though that goes away if I push the overclock 20MHz too hard and run Heaven for a few minutes after each time I boot. I tried to fix that high idle problem and the only thing that worked other than the clockspeed equivalent of whacking the side of the TV was to use NV Inspector's "multi monitor power saver"...but that has a 5 second step-up and 17 second step-down time for the GPU clock. http://puu.sh/FPHkG.png This seems to be a bug as it works fine on previous cards from what I'm told and read. Tomorrow morning I will be starting the process to remedy this issue with Asus; I appreciate any advice or insight into what may have gone wrong.

I recently upgraded my build with a new 7900X, I kept my h110I GTX at a quiet fan curve, but I replaced the two fans (one of which didn't work) with the stock case fans that come with the corsair 780T, and I placed the fans which came with the cooler in place of the stock case fans, after booting my computer, with 4 - 10% CPU usage, my temperatures are at 50C. I usually see i9s idling at 20C, and I haven't overclocked my chip yet. This is insane, can someone please help me, there was nothing notable in the build process with the exception of it being very difficult to get the cooler on, and it was removed a few times but I didn't replace the thermal compound I had placed the first time because it was still freshly applied and well spread. (I don't have the cooler plugged into corsair link because I ran out of headers on the motherboard). Thanks a lot in advance for the help.

Im getting 40°c-42°c idle temps. Is it normal or have I not put the thermal paste correctly? My cooler is deepcool maelstrom 240 which is similar to h100 in performance I didnt completely tightened the screws (did it with my hands and left it when i tought it was slighty tight) on the cooler is that a problem?

Hey everyone, just noticed something weird. I recently started noticing that my cpu temps were pinned at 40-45° Celsius at idle without any games running, just downloading some software and installing battlefield 4. The load is around 30%. Even if I set my water pump and radiator fans to performance mode it doesn't make a single difference, still exactly the same temps as before. Ambient temperature is around like 22-25° Celcius. I don't know if this is normal, and I don't mind it running at 40° but I expected better temperatures from a H110i GTX AIO.... And apparently the i7-6700K was meant to run cooler than most other cpu's... I call BS No overclocking on the cpu, specs in the signature.

My Titan X IDLES at 67 degrees.... one in the new build log was running in the 30's at idle.

I have a picture explaining everything. If you for some reason cannot view the picture, here's the skinny on it; SLI, temps are 50c and 32c idle, 78c and 68c load. Have changed thermal paste. Tried old drivers. Good airflow (side panel off and the stock case fans + two Corsair SP120 Quiet Editions on my H100i in H440). Previous temps were 36c/28c idle and 72c/67c load while OVERCLOCKED and OVERVOLTED. Room temperature is a comfortable 18-20c. (edit) I have swapped the cards, and temperatures are minimally improved. It's the current configuration I am running. However, I can't get as much of an overclock with the cards swapped for some reason, which I don't mind. Hi, So I recently moved my PC to a different location in my room (from on my floor to under my desk) and - as a result - the idle temp has went up as things like my legs are getting in the way of the intake fans more often. My idle temps are now around 34/35C and I am just wondering if these are still all cool (see what I did there) temps for a GTX 770? Thanks!
