So i just got a laptop that has an i7 7700hq and a 1050ti and 16gb of ram. Im starting my firstgames and im kinda dissapointed (i know that the specs arent the best or well even good to be honest but im a poor army boi let me be. ). I started looking around that why my frames in game werent so good and i realised all my hardware is running about 70%(my cpu and gpu). i wonder why is this. If i wathc benchmark videos of this combo the hardware performs atleast like 90-100% and the performance is much better. Have i got bad hardware or is it a fixable thing with some tinkering. if it is fixable plz help. also what monitoring tools should i use.

I use a 3 years old laptop, one Gigabyte Sabre 15, as my daily driver. The specs are as below i7 7700hq gtx 1060 mobile 16gb DDR4 2400 128gb SSD, 1TB HDD The first two year performance was okay, but lately i have been experiencing thermal throttling while playing games such as Squad, Genshin, and RDR2. Idle temp of CPU is 64-70 degree which is obviously bad (I live in tropical country, i expect around 50-60 degree when idle). So naturally i do what i think i should. Currently i have done : - Cleaned the internal fan and stuffs - Re applying the thermal paste on both GPU and CPU - I tried undervolting, i uploaded the throttlestop setting, i may need help cause i dont understand a lot about undervolting. If any of you guys can point out what i can do, it will be greatly appreciated. Oh, and please, dont put buying a new laptop as a suggestion, i know thats the end all be all solution but my money is need elsewhere currently. Thank you

I use an Asus ROG GL702VS Laptop and have been experiencing random fps drops in almost every game. Haven't been able to find the core of the issue but I'm very certain it's CPU related because I checked through HWMonitor that during gaming the CPU's utilization drop by 10-30% depending upon how demanding the game is. Eg- While playing Ghost Runner, the usage is around 45-60% typically but it suddenly drops to 15-20% on all cores and causes massive fps drops for 2-3 seconds every 2 minutes or so. The clock speed never changes during this time and temps are normal (It never shows thermal throttling in Intel XTU). I do have a 125mV Underclock on the chip but these drops have been happening before the underclock, they've just gotten worse lately. Idle temps have been high lately (60-70 C) but they're never crossing 94 C on load. RealBench, Prime95 and a few lighter stress tests haven't shown anything, seems to happen only while actually gaming. If some particular tests can help solve the issue better I can do them too. Any help is appreciated, feel free to ask for any additional info. Specs- i7 7700HQ (underclocked -125mV) GTX 1070 500GB m.2 nvme SSD (contains my OS) 1TB HDD (7200rpm) Windows 10 Home

hi i was wondering if i can turbo i7 7700hq all cores on 3.8ghz. i know the risks and have enough thermal headroom. i tried using throttle stop to do this by setting turbo ratio limits all to 38. but it has no effect (still all 4 cores turbo on 3.4ghz) can someone tell why? also please mention any other method to achieve this if you know ! thanks ! i have lenovo legion y520 laptop with gtx 1050ti 16 gb ram!

A buddy of mine is going to college and needs a laptop with a dedicated gpu for rendering. I think I'm gonna recommend him The dell inspiron 7000 gaming, because he also wants to mess with pc gaming. The one with the i7 and the 1050 ti. ( http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/productdetails/inspiron-15-7567-laptop/fncwf512s ) Is this a good choice?

Only have had this laptop for a few days but was differently worth the price on NewEgg of $1370 usd. very happy with it so far. Pros -16Gb ram can upgrade to 64Gb as it supports 4 dims -256Gb m.2 ssd has 2 m.2 slots. -1Tb 7200rpm hdd -very good thermals haven't had the cpu stress tested as installing games and stuff still but getting 70-80c during most games and 84c with just the cpu under 100% load will spike up to 90c at times tho and gpu is 60-75c without max fan speed and can reach 2050+mhz most the time around 1800-2000mhz sometimes 1750s -Good built in speakers sounds very nice. -75Hz G-sync 1080p IPS display with very good color accuracy giving very nice images -keyboard is membrane but feels closer to a mechanical keyboard has that nice click sound. -very well built chassis for the most part. the keyboard deck has little to no fleck -very easy to turn the mouse pad off 2 different ways. -Almost no bloatware just acer stuff and windows not a bunch of 3rd party crap. -Quite even still at max fan speed hard to hear it and have to really listen for the fans. Cons -can't under volt or overclock the CPU what is a given as its a hq -cant incresse power or voltage for the GPU -screen has a lot of flex and wouldn't recommend carrying in backpack as chance the screen might get scratched or break or something. -can not tell if caplock or numlock is on. -Preditorsence dose not overclock the CPU from what i can tell as 1 core=3800mhz 2=3600mhz 4=3400mhz but during stress test 4 cores were running 3355mhz. Also only is a +120 core clock and +100mem for the GPU can get around +180-190core and +400mem or so Manuel overclocking in MSI AB Minor cons -keyboard is stuck to red and numpad blue -Marco keys are all red even tho the button to cycle through them is different colors would of been nice. -not very portable and will not fit in many backpacks kinda a good thing tho as screen might get damaged from being in a backpack as mentioned above. -not the best battery life but should get you through the day for classes or something if you are just web-browsing or typing a paper. Overall it is a very solid laptop especially for the price and i would recommend buying one if you are looking at a mid range laptop. The only big negative for me is the flex in the screens bezel and would of liked to see it be stronger. The 1060 version has the same cooling set up as the 1070 and 1080 version what is nice for keeping temps low. The overclock ability or under voltage would be nice for more performance or better thermals and battery life. There is quite a bit of other reviews on this laptop as well so go check them out before buying one just to make sure all the ones I found were very positive about it. Hello people! First topic here so taking all kinds of suggestions So, a month ago I bought Aorus gaming box 2070. The laptop I'm using it with is Asus ux550ve(i7 7700HQ, 1050Ti, 8GB DDR4, 512 M2, FHD 60Hrz) through either of the two tunderbolt 3 ports(believe they are 4x lanes each). And there is something that I can't figure so was hoping some of you can make some sense out of it all: the games I've tried are not many but the results vary BIG. So Rise of the Tomb Raider runs around 70FPS on ultra in FHD, FIFA and HoMM 7 run perfect but they are realtively light. The main problem is Assassins creed! I had Origins and on all Ultra it was running great(60-70FPS) but Odyssey is a total failure on this setup. I've tried playing with the settings but no matter what I do I stay in 20-30FPS range. And it drives me crazy! I understand there will be bottle neck because of the TB3 but is it possible to have such a difference from two consecutive titles of the same game?!? There is plenty of memory on the GPU but can the CPU be the problem in this case? I have a 1080p projector where while connected to the gaming box directly the results gain ~10% in FPS but that's it. Haven't tried on 4K yet but I'm frankly scared because of what I see on FHD. Any ideas why is this occurring? ? Cheers!

My laptop has a i7 7700hq and a GTX 1050 TI . I am using Cooler Master RG-ICF-CWRP2-GP thermal paste and I am getting 84 C for gpu (It throttles at that and decrease performance) & 93 C for cpu under load. My question is if i use Artic Silver 5 High Density thermal paste, will it reduce my temperature. I am sorry for this noob question. The Cooler Master thermal paste i am using is around 6 years old. Just wanted to make sure before i placed the order. Thank you for reading and helping me

I am using an MSI GS63 7RDX laptop for gaming. It has a GTX 1050 paired with an i7 7700HQ. When I was running Battlefield V on it, I suddenly started to notice a lot of stuttering. So' I opened XTU and noticed that my CPU was Thermal Throttling. While my GPU temps were completely normal. To solve this I downloaded some top i7 7700 HQ XTU profiles. But they didn't work at all and my system freezer upon applying them. Although I got a profile working, there wasn't any difference in my benchmark score. Why does this happen? And anyone has a fix for aforementioned battlefield V issue. ( Except for Repasting). P.S:- My laptop is above one and half year old.

In some games both my cpu and gpu utilisation stays around 70-80%. Does it mean that my pc is bottle necked by something other than gpu and cpu ? My Specs -I7 7700HQ -GTX 1070 -16GB 2400mhz ddr4 ram both cpu and gpu temperatures were hovering around 80c while playing those games

Hello everyone, so i got an dell inspiron with the gtx1050ti version and i7 7700hq and i lowered cpu state to 80% and undervolted my cpu with -120mv so idk if is it safe to do them both now max temps are 73-74 for cpu or maybe should i put the cpu state to 100% and undervolt to -140 maybe it will work and wont crash with 100% ?? Thanks

So i have a dell inspiron 7567 with the i7 7700hq 16gb ram and gtx 1050ti My question now is the i7 7700hq a bit dated as 6 core cpus are becoming mainstream and most probably everything would require a 6 core cpu? All help is appreciatedd

So I have recently just bought an MSI gaming laptop (GP62MVR 7RFX) and I noticed that when gaming the CPU temps were reaching nearly 90°C, even though intel say it's fine as long it's under 100°C I still thought it was quite high.I did some research and found that underclocking this CPU will decrease the temp. I used intel XTU and have decreased it by -0.115 and it seems to be running a lot cooler, only 75°C in games now. Is this a well know issue with these CPU's? Also will keeping the voltage down have any impact on performance or the life of the CPU in the future? Thanks

Hi all! I am looking for a laptop that is under £1200 (not canadian rupees unfortunately!) and i am hoping to find a laptop with similar specs to the following: i7 7700hq 16gb ram gtx 1060 1tb hard drive possibly an m.2 drive if it can be squeezed in RGB KEYBOARD (i mean it is 2018 right? oh and individually backlit please!) 15.6inch or lower (needs to be kinda portable) batter life greater than 3 hours if possible? i am happy with going down the custom route for laptops... but i do need to have warranty on it (i will be taking it to school each day) thanks in advance! from the bear that goes through the tunnels for you....

Hello! I have a Lenovo y720 laptop with i7 7700hq. When I open a AAA game I get my 4 cores boosted @ 3.40 GHz. After playing for few mins they instantly drop back to the base clock @ 2.70 GHz. Temperatures are only about 60-70°C. GPU's temps are staying at flat ~65°C. CPU & GPU usage is 80-95%. I have battery performance set to "High Performance" and I have also tried undervolting the cpu, but everything stays the same. Picture of XTU: https://gyazo.com/2d4011522dfcf71d1501c38ef2b17134 Are there any other settings I should change inside BIOS or XTU? Thanks! :)
