Hello, I just broke my Asus G750JZ screen after falling on some ice. The screen area seems to be intact and the computer works just fine with external monitors. I want to replace it, so I've been looking at this one, can anyone tell me whether or not it'll fit? It's the same size and I'm assuming that the older G750 models use the same screen because they physically look the same on the outside at least. Thanks in advance for any replies.

So, I've been doing my research on the G750Jz that has an 880m in it. Some people told me that the gpu is soldered and won't be able to be swapped out alone. Is there any way to buy a Rev2.0 motherboard with the 880m? Maybe swap out the motherboard with one that has an 880m and an upgraded cpu? What are some problems other than having to get the software for the new cpu/gpu? Fitting issues? Here are some links. I currently own a Asus ROG g750jm. Links: https://www.ebay.com/i/282737532111?chn=ps&dispItem=1 https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-ASUS-G750JZ-W-I7-4860HQ-G750JZ-REV-2-0-Motherboard-60NB04K0-MB1001-Test-OK-/322543193562 Hopefully I'm able to do one or the other. I would really like to upgrade the laptop without having to shell out another $1k+. Thanks!

Hi, A few months ago I posted a thread (visibly not in the laptop section, but whatever), ranting about my Asus ROG G750JM. I was and I am still angry about this laptop. Today I'm convinced that this laptop is designed to be defective. Specs are: Intel i7 4700HQ; NVidia 860m; 16GB RAM; 1TB Hitachi Travelstar 7K1000; Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bits. What are the problems? First of all, I will occasionnaly BSoD if I'm not running the OEM NVidia driver 347.52. That means I can't use the shiny new drivers or even a drivers with ShadowPlay in GeForce Experience. That would make me BSoD at startup. My second issue is that every single hard drive I have inserted into the second bay were damaged over time. The first drive lasted 6 months, the second and the third less than two months. They were the same brand and model as the one that came in the first bay: Hitachi Travelstar 7K1000 1TB. I'm now running a new one on a USB3 dock. My third issues is that the screen's internal cable will detach itself. Sometimes I'll have to disassemble the screen every few days and tape it back correctly. There is no locking mechanism besides sticky tape! Trying to solve problems I have exchanged several emails with Asus' support team. Every single time I link a video, a crashdump, a log file, kernel messages or even mentionned what I tried to diagnose the issues I was ignored. Always offered to RMA the computer without promising to repair it once and for all. The RMA team like to make me remember that they might have to make me pay for the damages if they judged I was the one who caused them. The "threat" of getting a quote or billed didn't help the fact that it's the only computer I own currently, and that I actually need it since I'm a student in computer science. I documented every single use cases I could and even tried getting the most out of crash dumps for the BSoD and Kernel messages for when the hard drive in the second bay would fail. For the screen I just needed to use my eyes to witness flickering on certain colors, and sometimes, the whole screen going blank or showing lines. I had high expectations of the French Asus support team. I was shocked when I learned that they go through a third party repair shop. I even voiced my concern when I had to RMA it a second time. I was not being told that the warranty of replaced part was only worth 3 months the first time I had to go through the RMA process. Is this another rant? Somewhat yeah. I'm ranting. I'm angry. But I'm actually trying to find out if I'm the only one pissed about this laptop and I'm looking for people willing to share their own experiences about this. There's nothing we can do. And I'm not counting on this thread going viral or anything. Please share your experiences. Thanks.

Hi. I own an Asus ROG G750JM (860m, i7 4700HQ, 16GB RAM, Windows 8.1) and I'm having issues. I bought it on the 4th of July 2014 and had only one year of warranty on it. I RMA'd it for the following reasons: The screen flickered on certain colors; The screen had a couple of dead pixels; The screen wasn't sealed apparently, a bug managed to crawl in; The second SATA bay had dstroyed already two hard drives (Hitachi Travelstar 7K1000 1TB, same as the hard drive shipped with the laptop), the first lasted 6 months and the second only one; It would have 9 chances out of 10 to BSoD if ShadowPlay and GeForce experience were running at boot. When I got it back, the screen, motherboard and GPU were replaced. And they failed to mention that I had 3 months of warranty on the replaced parts. Asus wasn't the one who repaired it, instead they used some computer shop on the otherside of the country. But there were more issues... When I received the laptop, I booted it up and saw that the new screen was already ruined like if someone put something heavy on the screen. After trying out a third hard drive for my second SATA bay I hoped that it would last but it died again in less than two months again. At this point I was furious because the first hard drive was the same and was alright, while the second wouldn't report S.M.A.R.T. errors correctly (except for the last one). The screen also didn't seem correctly connected since I had to adjust if a couple of times before getting an image (see first picture attached) and would have some severe burn in (second picture attached). I sent it back right after learning that my 3 months of warranty on the replaced parts was ending in just a few days. This time only the screen was replaced. Right now the screen flickers on certain colors, and I must adjust the angle like if the internals were not connected correctly. I really like the way this computer looked, it felt like it was tough and could be used like any other laptop. I like the keyboard since it's not bloated with useless ROG keys, or Big Picture keys. But I'm not sure what to do now, I can't really send it back again because they would just replace the screen (maybe) and I would be going for a least a full week without being able to work. About what I do with this computer, just for context, I'm a student in computer science and that means: I write software; I use Virtual Machines (several of them at the same time often); I game, and use game SDKs (Unreal, Unity 3D); I watch videos; I read stuff; And more importantly than all of that, I take my computer wherever I need to with the ROG backpack (not cheap at all, but great to fit in my stuff in). Right now I'm running the 4th hard drive I got in a USB3 dock so I can have a bit more storage (since I need it with all those VMs, games, and videos). I put to sleep my computer whenever I need to move it around or go to school so I don't have to spend time booting, opening my apps, going back where I was (Visual Studio is so slow) and mainly because sometimes I will just move for a few minutes and it's not worth shutting it down totally. This post is not about making Asus look bad, it's about my experience and what I'm living with what I hoped would be the ultimate laptop experience. I really do like the idea of this laptop, then way it looks and all but it doesn't feel like it's build like it should be. To the G750 users, please tell me about your experience with your laptop. Are you happy ? Does it meet your needs ? To the other gaming laptop users, what do you have and what do you do with it ? Has it ever failed on you ? Thanks for reading.

I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to edit the GPU fan curve on my asus g750JW i do have the gpu overclocked but only +130 mhz but it dos not crash or overheat but it does get noticeably hotter like the highest of 79 c without my external fans and stuff witch dont really do anything anyway i would like to just let the fan spin a little more because when idle the right side of the keyboard gets warm when idle the fan dosnt seem to be spinning at all and thats mainly when the keyboards warm i'v been wanting to do this for a while msi afterburner nor evga precision x 16 lets me edit the fan curve but i don't think it works. and i would rather my fans spin al little loud then to have my components have a short life im trying to save for what ever the latest g series laptop is at the time i have the miney and keep in mind im not stupid i know like just get a desk top well i have a desktop i just like the laptop form factor better but the laptops my primary still because i still need things like hard drives for the desktop not to mention a legit os key well i don't have money and it took me how long to build. sorry for getting off topic im just letting you know the reasons i want to do this sorry for bad grammar and run on sentences and stuff im not good at typing ether. IDLE FULL USAGE now just to be clear i want to just edit the fan curve it dosnt have to be in msi or evga id rather it not and i dont want to flash anything because the last thing i want to to is brick this but if i have to flash the graphics card i might actualy i dont even know if you can on a laptop

Hey everyone, I'm having some weird lag spikes while playing Starcraft 2 HoTS on my Asus G750JX-QS71. It's always been doing this, but more recently it's been getting worse. The mouse still moves on screen, but the game in the background seems to have been frozen. It does the exact same thing on wifi, plugged in, medium settings, ultra settings, my friends place, my room, my kitchen... but it doesn't do it on my main rig (i7 4770k w/ gtx 770). specs of the laptop (is completely stock): i7 4700hq 16gb ram gtx770m Any clue as to why or any possible fixes?

Anyone know if its possible? Has anyone done this? I have seen those external enclosures for GPUs but I haven't seen one hooked up to a G750 before only MacBook Pros... The other obvious problems are the fact that despite Thunderbolt 1 being fast (I think Asus G750 has Thunderbolt 1) anyways its 10GB per second I think but even so it's not as fast as PCIe 3.0 I also heard its fine to run most cards on PCIe 2.0 so how would I go about doing this... Its not that I really really need it because a 860m is "OK" for most situations but for the futureproofness of being able to essentially upgrade my GPU.... Anyways. Help? Anyone? P.S...I'm thinking an EVGA 970 or something along those lines for the card Like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487070

Hey! Which one of these is better for the price? Asus G75VX for 1300€ http://www.amazon.de/G75VX-T4206H-Notebook-3630QM-NVIDIA-schwarz/dp/B00CTHR4MO/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1389606135&sr=1-1&keywords=asus+g75vx or Asus G750JX for 1770€ http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00D7E3TMW/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=computers I have serious doubts about the difference of performance between these two. They have similar specs except the forst one doesnt have an ssd but there is an available tray for one. I dont like the ventilation and the first one and the rubber finish maybe it will wear easier and it will be a fingerprint magnet. i am concerned about euro/specs. Thank you!

THE PROBLEM I have two laptops one the fan bearings are basically crap now and it just makes a bunch of noise but cools pretty well still, but I am a college student so cant use it for class and the noise is annoying. I also have a dell but I think the thermal paste is messed up or going bad or something because its over heating with when the computer is used with a moniter or I am in full screen to long on videos. So basically I need a new laptop and neither of these are really powerfull enough for the 3d modeling and photoshop work I do. I have sort of figured 2 out that will fit my needs, but I AM OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS IF YOU CAN CONVINCE ME THEY FIT MY WANTS BELOW. USAGE I do alot of CAD, Revit, Rhino, Sketchup, and Photoshop work, probably gonna look into 3ds max soon as well. The work I do is all custom on the 3d side so I am working the program in ways it wasnt really designed to handle and so it takes a toll on the laptops and freezes way to much for me to be effecient in school work so its time to upgrade. Wants I am looking for a laptop with great cooling and warrenty if I can get it because I will be carrying this around alot but most gaming laptops are heavy idc, I will be using this at a desk 78% of the time so portability is just so i can pick it up and move it from my apartment to the classes I will have which is like a 2 minute walk from my apartment (I live on campus). The warrenty I just want one that if it messes up I know itll be fixed or replaced, I have had warrenty issues already with my toshiba with the fan and hard drive. I also need an ssd for speed and 1 tb for space or more than 1 tb but really 2 hard drive slots would work best.SSD will be used for os 8.1 till 9 comes out probably with support for my programs. The hard drive for file saves and such, may get a nas for backups or just external setup. Budget is around $2000 US max but thats the absolute limit with taxs and I have a hard time justifing getting a $2000 laptop. For those of you saying I should just build a Desktop I am going to next semester=] but need something portible for classes and that I can run what i need in class then use the new desktop for power usage;). The ones I have looked at most are the ASUS G750 series because they have two fans for cooling and massive exhaust, plus two copper heat pipes one for gpu and one for cpu but I know 3d modeling uses alot of power and will put out a crap ton of heat so thats why i am looking at these models. The two models are the G750 JM and G750JS. I will also buy a bag to fit these from asus just because I know it will fit and it looks big enough to carry my stuff unless you guys can pick out a good messanger bag these fit ? or better suggested laptops G750JM has a slow hard drive so I have found a samsung ssd for 130 on amazon to upgrade it to. Has a quad core, and 860M graphics processor 2gb. also comes with 12 gb ram. For a 2 Year Canopy warrenty http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007KB5XGI/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1FSZ8QRIXICMJ&coliid=I1XVTELU16WV52&psc=1 the asus nomad bag http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IR79QWQ/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1FSZ8QRIXICMJ&coliid=I2DW6Q9IZSILPC and the ssd http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E3W1726/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1FSZ8QRIXICMJ&coliid=I38JG5GL5MSRFZ&psc=1 It costs all together $1703.94 US. With prime 2 day free shipping everything. Laptop-> http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IKF2H12/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1FSZ8QRIXICMJ&coliid=I1IEZ2WBZC4KGV G750JS Comes with a 256gb ssd and 1 tb hard drive already, so no upgrade with an ssd, The gpu is 870M 3gb, and it comes with 16gb of ram. this comes with a asus accidental protection warrenty of 1 year for spills and such, not sure about the other laptop. Laptop bag is the same as above, laptop-> http://www.amazon.com/G750JS-DS71-17-3-inch-Gaming-GeForce-Graphics/dp/B00IEV85OU/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1407827754&sr=1-2&keywords=asus+g750 all together without a warrenty addition just the asus factory warrenty and the warrenty for adp that comes with it costs $1885.09. I am looking for any suggestions, experiences with these laptops or other gaming laptops, and what you guys think woud be best for the money and any experiences you guys have had with gaming laptops and thermal problems or warrenty issues. OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS FOR OTHER BRANDS. Thanks ahead of time!
