I need a new cpu cooler but I can’t find my case dimensions
Elibott posted a topic in Cases and Mods
A few years ago I got a prebuilt - a Acer Predator Orion 9000 - I actually don’t even think that they sell the one I have anymore so I can’t even find dimensions but that’s besides the point and a few days ago I decided to upgrade it’s ram and after I install the ram I couldn’t get the cooler back on and the only other way I could put it blows heat at the graphics card. I know I need a new cooler and I was thinking of one of Corsairs icue Elite Capellix but my problem is I don’t know if any of them will fit my case. Can anyone help me? -
Hey guys! So this year I'm building my first PC! I currently have a prebuild, Acer Aspire TC-885-ACCFLi5, with an aftermarket gtx 1650, ventus oc edition. This is my current choice, after consulting many others online. First build. I'm just here to double check I'm not using an overpriced part, a part with bad quality, and all that. This is my requirements, If you can come up with a better one than me: A B450 mobo, ATX Ryzen 5 3600 with or without aftermarket cooler One large m.2 drive (example: 1TB WD 3D NAND) or a m.2/SSD boot drive and a barracuda compute 2TB Option 1:RX5700XT, unless you tell me how to BIOS flash the non-xt Option 2: Keep my gtx 1650, swap it out later with something else(don't show me those rtx 2080 TIs though, I'm not that rich) 16GB of RAM 650W PSU for further upgrades Good overall cooling OC not necessary Vertical GPU mount A Tempered Glass case with front air intake And that's all! Glad if you could help, Bye bye if you can't.

Hi guys ! A little post to say hi to all of you, I heard a lot about this forum in LTT videos so I decided to come to see it by myself. If you notice some mistakes in my english, please don't hold it against me, I'm french I come from the city of Dijon in France, don't ask me for any mustard please ... I'm interested in informatic since I was 13 when I got my first "real" computer, a Q9550 paired with a GTX 260 and 4GB of RAM. Pretty old but I used to keep it until 2016 lol I recently bought a brand new one : 6700K, SLI of GTX 1080s, 16GB of RAM,... I will post soon pics of my new rig, RGB included So, thanks for you guys to welcome me on this forum !

Alright, so let's get this started off. This is my first ever computer build, and I picked the parts with help from a few of my friends that have already made their own custom pc's. I think it's pretty respectable, but I am a bit worried about the power supply and fan I chose. If you have any suggestions about replacing these parts (or any parts) please let me know, as that would be very helpful. Now onto my real question- does anyone know of some good black and yellow SSDs and Motherboards? If you look at the build, you will notice that the color theme throughout the build is black and yellow, or well at least everything besides the motherboard and SSD. I feel like both of them would stick out like a sore thumb in this build; so does anyone know of any good parts that would allow overclocking on the motherboard's side and a quality SSD for a lowish price? Sorry if this thread seems a little jumbled, I wasn't sure how to word my question. TL;DR: Does anyone know of any quality black and yellow SSDs and Motherboards that support overclocking for the parts below? Anyways, here is the build. Hello there! As you can see by the topic, this post is about laptop upgrading. I never really thought about upgrading a laptop, but spending cash here and there to "beef" up a laptop doesn't seem as bad as saving a lot of money to get a full on desktop gaming computer (Plus, it is portable). I am not a very tech-like person. I don't know a lot about computers. I know pretty basic stuff and maybe a few things here and there, plus the names of things like a GTX Ti thingymabob make learning all that more difficult. With that said the information about to be given is rather scarce... sorry. Anyway thank you for taking the time to read this and let us begin. Laptop Model: Inspiron 5565 Processor: AMD A12-9700P RADEON R7, 10 COMPUTE CORES 4C+6G, 2500 Mhz, 4 main processors, 4 logical processors GPU: AMD Radeon(TM) R7 Graphics RAM: 8.00 GB Virtual Memory: 10.4 GB Bit: 64-bit Monitor/Screen: 60 Hz - (I got this from "systemrequirementslab) [Video Card] Pixel Shader: 5.1 Vertex Shader: 5.1 Dedicated Video RAM: 512 [CPU] CPU: AMD A12-9700P RADEON R7, 10 COMPUTE CORES 4C+6G [CPU Speed] CPU Speed: 2.5 GHz [RAM] RAM: 8.0 GB That is about everything I could find. I know there are some repeated stuff there but I would rather double something than put nothing. So here are my questions for help. 1. What would I need to do or buy to increase dedicated video memory for my laptop? Many games require lots of dedicated video memory, I love a lot of my games and sadly I play them with very low FPS. For example Borderlands 2 I only get around 25 to 30, if I am lucky, or the shooter types of games I have, like Dirty Bomb and CSGO. Any tips or advice on what to do or what I should buy? 2. Am I missing anything essential? Are there some things you would recommend I purchase immediately to increase my gaming performance? 3. How can I increase my performance with a variety of games? I have tried lots and lots of tricks from various videos. Some help and some don't. Those are all the questions I can think of. In the end I just want to increase my FPS and performance in games. Any tips, tricks, or advice on what to purchase would be great. Thank you very much for taking the time to look at my post. Have a wonderful day.

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/MYSTiKALRiCK/saved/ZJvbXL Hey guys! So I'm looking to upgrade to a desktop from my current alieware 17r4. This will be my first time building a computer, and I'm hoping to make it future proof enough to where I wont have to make to many upgrades in the future. I play on a 3440x1440 120htz monitor so I want to be able to run as close or to that 120 fps as much as possible. I have the 8086k for my processor in the build but I plan on waiting and getting the 9900k when it comes out. I've heard it will fit 7370 motherboards but correct me if I'm wrong. I really wanted to get a custom open loop water cooling system to cool my gpu as well as the cpu but I'm not so confident in my ability to construct the loop properly, nor do I want to pay the price of a custom build from a company (maingear, digitalstorm, xidax) so I figure to go with a closed loop for my processor only. I definitely want a 2080 ti, not 100% sure if i want the evga xc ultra or the ftw3 so any input on that would be appreciated. M.2 for the Os is a must but the pcpartpicker compatibility screen is telling me I have a issue with it an the motherboard, it states : The motherboard M.2 slot #1 shares bandwidth with a SATA 6.0 Gb/s port. When the M.2 slot is populated, one SATA 6.0 Gb/s port is disabled. Is this invalid and I shouldn't worry about it? Anyways any input would be nice, and if you think I'm missing something or should change to something else let me know why! Thanks in advance for your time and experience!

Hello! W I suppose this is my first interaction on a forum, however certainly not my first time on one. I just thought I'd write a little about myself to see if there is anyone else on this forum similar to myself and my views on the current generation of technology.ell My views on technology may actually be todays Macs (at least for what I use them for). First off I know that I am at risk of being crucified for even sharing what I use as my daily machine. However first let me add a little context to my technology situation. I used to have a GTX 970ti with 32gb of RAM and 3 TB of storage, so for 3 years ago a decent computer and brilliant for playing Video Games. I played GTA, Battlefield, ArmA 3 and War Thunder all on movie settings and I loved it. However as I got older and started to require productivity over gaming (much like James before his rig was revamped) so I started to realise that Windows did not suit my needs. So I resorted to Google online services and Apple. A combination that I adore, especially when using my Google Home for ease of booking reminders and deadlines.in complete paradox to my purchasing of it. I use at this current moment in time a MacBook 12inch and an iMac 27" Mid-2011 and an iPhone 7 32gb. Now god they sound old, especially the iMac, but my do they still compete with Apple's MacOS just suited my needs, the ease of connectivity makes my life so much easier. I use the iMac to do my website design, light coding and the odd sprinkling of graphic design. So the obvious issue to many of you would be does the 2011 iMac manage this to a reasonable standard? Well, yes... However it must be said that my left side of the screen is dulled and I have had to resort to swapping out my 1 TB Hard-drive to a 256 GB SSD, leading to my purchase of an external Porsche Design Hard-Drive in order to store all my Data, anyway that is beside the point. For a device that is now 7-8 years old now it certainly has been a great investment. I have certainly made the money back from the initial purchase just because of its' longevity and relative reliability. I am unable to upgrade to newer devices just purely because of price and to be completely honest I don't want to if I don't have to, the device works, in fact it works well enough to be able to run War Thunder on medium settings at 45 FPS pretty much for a full day. Combine this occasional procrastination with the immense productivity of the iMac I certainly am in awe of Apple's design and indeed quality. So my second device, the 12 inch MacBook, indeed I didn't just betray the PCMR but indeed went for perhaps the least popular MacBook that Apple produces. So let me address each issue separately. Why did I purchase a MacBook, well it was probably because of the experience I had with an iMac, I switched from a gaming PC to an iMac and I didn't regret it at all, I sacrificed Nvidia for AMD and an i7 for an i5 before so why should I risk going back to windows. As well as this I wanted a device that was beautifully designed but also one that I knew I could rely on. My productivity had increased by at least 300% of the original progress I was making and as I have said many times before, I didn't mind. The device is perfect for travelling, checking social media and for my personal writing endeavours (for my eyes only by the way). So the second question you may all be asking is why the 12 inch. Well I didn't want a device that was as powerful as it could be, or in Apple's case the most expensive it could be, nor a large device, a 12 inch screen is perfect for writing and checking on scheduling, even the sound quality from the 12 inch base is of decent quality for some situations. So it only has an Intel Core M processor but as I said I only word process on Google and the M processor is perfectly capable of internet access and the consequent long periods of drivel that I may write. So I am pretty sure I do not need to address why I use an iPhone at this point but I will just prove that perhaps my views on technology aren't exactly the same as how I use it and indeed the tech I purchase. Do I agree with Apple's sometimes ridiculous pricing and lack of hardware upgradeability? well no I don't to be frank. Do I agree that my tech is the best possible? no, it is no where near the best, I love Apple's devices and indeed use them, but are mine the newest, no, are they the most effective, no I can't procrastinate as well as I could have done on my old windows PC. I am a strong believer in the user customised experience for computer users. However at the moment this is only really available to users on the Windows operating system something I believe should at some point shift to MacOS as well, will they? no of course not it's Apple! But after blabbing for long enough now I should probably wrap up this post. So I'll wrap it up with two questions for you all to answer if you wish. 1) Is there anyone else on the LTT forum that is in my situation preferring Apple devices purely because of productivity and design but yet still yearning for the gaming capability of Windows' devices? 2) Does anyone else use older Apple devices still with great performance because of the ridiculous pricing of Apple's latest devices? So I hope you all liked what you read and I already have my flak vest on for the shrapnel emanating from every windows PCMR user on this forum but I hope I don't need to defend myself and we all realise how different devices maximise certain expects of peoples lives. Jack

Hello everyone, This is my first post and its a question. I'm wondering if any one could provide me some steps to take in order to setup a Ubuntu VM (Virtual Machine). The reason im doing this is because i am trying to host a server off a droplet from this website * https://www.digitalocean.com * and I'm having a bit of trouble following any instructions they have, mostly because i need to get a Ubuntu machine up and running before i do anything involving the server. A virtual Machine seems as if the only way this would work, that i can see.

Hello. New user here. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post suggestions to improve LMG content, but there was nothing in the "rules post" so I assume this is OK behavior. If this not OK behavior please remove this mods. Ok, with the recent recognition with Linux on the LTT channel, I just thought I would be great if the LMG team could add Linux compatibility to their standard review process. I've already been using them as an exhaustive resource for laptop purchases, but since I often use Linux(EndeavourOS and Ubuntu) as my main OS of choice, adding compatibility to the reviews would help me(as well as the other 3% of Linux users out there) tremendously. We won't really need an exhaustive list really. Just a few things here and there would be great, and would likely not take too much extra work. For this I have compiled a simple list of things that the LMG team might want to check for compatibility. If the team can take this into account, Great! If not, that's fine as well(but it would be cooler if you guys did). Installation process with the major Linux Distros : All this is is to check if the auto installer just works. Would likely only have to test two or three distros. Critical system hardware support: This is to check if the system hardware(CPU and GPU) works as intended. Will probably be able to test this with a simple CPU and GPU benchmark Misc hardware support: Hardware support for Webcams, fingerprint readers, Wifi cards, Bluetooth, thunderbolt. A simple "Works/Doesn't work out of the box" would be sufficient, but some extra details like "Installing this driver enables the hardware" would be much better. Finally, Battery life: A simple battery life test just like you do on your windows machines. Though, this may be more difficult as the standard bench marking software LMG uses is not available on Linux. Like I said, if these could be integrated that would be great. but if it cannot that is fine too. This is all I have to say for Linux compatibility. I'm not sure if this will even reach Linus, but I hope they at least get to consider it. Thanks. SuppaMan
