On my flint ax-1800 router i try to share media library from external hdd via minidlna , but some of folders and files are missing if viewed via dlna (any) clients: All files and folders have same user:group (122:adm) and access rights (755) If i rename missing folder and restart minidlna service, folders appear in dlna directory. I can rename then this directory back and indexing still work correctly. (#service minidlna reload) Upd.: for larger folders that does not work, not all files are found, and each time it can be different files/subfolders missing Is there any viable solution to fix minidlna indexing issue (as I understood from search, this issue is present on multiple platforms and not limited to openwrt)? Some solutions I found, I can't apply, as I can't find, f.ex files.db (indexing database file).

I plugged the external HDD into my router then I turned on the DLNA server in the settings. Now i can see the files on the external hdd both on my TV and on my desktop PC, but i can't add or delete anything.

How do I live stream videos to a DLNA device? The device is a generic chinese stick based on an ARM processor with 256MiB of RAM, and Intel UPnP stack. It identifies as "Intel DLNA DMR". I can play videos from HTTP and HTTPS URLs but it won't play HLS (m3u8 playlists) and it panics when I try to play a RTMP/RTMPe URL... Is there a chance I can live stream video to it? I have been also thinking of generating chunks of video 5 seconds long, then every 5 seconds playing a chunk and generating the next chunk while the current one is playing, but that seems like too much work... I'm using NodeJS to talk to it using SSDP and DLNA.

So I recently got a DNS-327L network attached storage and I want to make it so that i can stream videos from it to my TV (Philips 55PFL7008k/12). Also both the TV and NAS support DLNA. Any help is highly apreciated.

hai, i want to watch movies from my pc to my tv. it has DLNA and i set my pc settings to public. i can see my pc on the tv for streaming and it works but i got 4k movies on a other drive in my pc but the tv only can see my movie folder on not my other hdd with my movies. can someone help me. thanks

Hello everyone, I need advise as to which NAS should I buy for my requirements. I have 2 computers and 2 smart TVs, I need a NAS that can act as a media server without the need of a third party app like PLEX, so I can save video files to it from my computers and watch on my TVs, both detect media servers but none have access to PLEX. I bought the WD My Cloud Home but it only works with PLEX so I returned it. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. PS. Sorry for my bad English

Dear community, certainly hope I am in the right sub-thread with my problem. I am a hobby photograph and dislike that all of my good photos are dusting on my QNAP-NAS drive. Do you guys any digital frame which supports NAS/DLNA usage and does not cost a fortune? Or have any Ideas how to build one yourself? I would like if someone has an idea to this. P.S. A cloud solution isn´t quite working as my internet connection is crap.

Hello, I have an issue connecting to my dlna server Jellyfin running on Linux Mint 19.1. First installed version was 10.4.3 and DLNA worked fine. After that I upgrade to Jellyfin 10.5.0 and dome Mint packages and lost DLNA. bought this TV 4 month ago and since i bought it, i cant find a way to play .avi files and i cant convert 1.8TB of media this is not practical, is there is away to get it to read .avi files i updated the firmware to 2.208 "Firefox OS", but still no avail.Please advise,Thanks.

For a couple of years I've fantasized about building a Media Server/NAS hybrid and I've been looking around for cheap ways to do it. I've considered using an old laptop and just run a Plex server, since they're super easy an simple but the only laptop I have laying around to spare is a Netbook with 1 GB RAM and a single core Intel Atom CPU. So I'm kinda planning out what I should do for a proper lightweight media server. This is what I have so far: Cooler Master Elite 110 ASRock H81M-ITX Pentium G3258 3 MB Corsair SF Series SF600 (80 PLUS Gold) Crucial Ballistix Sport 2 x 8 GB WD Red WD30EFRX 3 TB Total: 500$ I'm not very experienced when it comes to server builds so I'd like to know if I'm doing anything wrong here. I've kinda followed the FreeNAS recommended specs, and put in a 80 PLUS Gold PSU for 24/7 operation. I build my brothers and father PC's with Crucial Ballistix Sport (8GB in their builds) and I haven't had any problems with them. In fact I've had more problems with my Corsair sticks than any Crucial ones. The Pentium G3258 is running in my dads PC and it performs super well for the price. I'm wondering if there are any other viable alternatives? Could a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B be a cheaper alternative? For OS I might install FreeNAS+miniDLNA, or simply go Ubuntu or even Windows 8.1. I'd like to keep the project at around 500$ - 550$

Hi guys, at first please excuse if there are any flaws in my english, I am not a native english speaker (I am from Czech Republic)... And thank You Linus, Luke, Taran, and whole team from Linus Tech Tips for GREAT youtube videos, because these brought me here ;-) Now about my topic: I assembled something like a homeserver, it is kind of basic hardware I managed to get together from my tight budget, here are specs (it was originally bought as HP ML10 v2, but i changed few parts): CPU: Intel Core i3 4170 - 3,7GHz 2c/4t MB: original server HP with Intel C222 chipset RAM: 16GB ECC DDR3 1600MHz SSD: 120GB Kingston HDD: 3TB WD RED I plan adding second of each drive for RAID 1 redundancy, but right now... budget :-) Server is connected via 100/100Mbps link, public IP adress and it has no data limit. My plan is to run: - Plex server (mostly for 1 connected user at a time) - basic webserver - just DJ promo for my flatmate - estimated few visitors a day (he is not a celebrity yet, ehem :-D ) - basic ftp server mostly used for fastdownload of additional files for our upcoming CS:GO dedicated server(s) - 2 dedicated CS:GO servers - any dedicated gameservers that might run on remaining resources (Terraria, etc.) Now I will by really glad and thankful, if you would give me some feedback about my future plans, because even if I think of myself as kind of advanced PC user, I am Linux newbie (or better said - pre-newbie), so any advices and guides will be just great... I plan running two virtual machines, one with less resources for ftp/web/plex and second just for gameservers, so they won't ever be affected by expected CPU usage spikes, which WILL come frome Plex, or by ftp/web usage. Right now I am not sure how I will split server's resources between those two, but I think best option will be to give both a less than I predict they would need and then give it some testing time and add resources as needed and observed. Right now the system has VMware ESXI 6.0 installed, 2 VM's with fresh Lubuntu installed on both. Lets hope that mr. Google will help me enough with software installing in Linux... :-D As I said, any feedback, advices or warnings would be very appreciated... thx in advance for any replies :-)

So a while ago I bought a mini dp --> hdmi adapter for my surface pro um, well i lost that... But i wanted to know, my tv is dlna certified (sony bravia kdl55hx820) and i was wondering, if i could wirelessly connect my surface pro to my tv. I know i can play videos and pictures to my tv, but can i use my tv as a monitor? if it is possible, i'd love to know how. Thanks so very much!

I am looking at these two receivers. I like that the Panasonic supports DLNA, but the Onkyo is a bit cheaper. Any advice? Around $250 is my budget Thanks

Hi Linus peeps I have a question for all of you. I have a PlayStation 3, a desktop pc and a laptop. I have all my media files on my desktop pc hdd and through my network I can watch all of this media on everything. Except one thing, My Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Could anyone give me advice to how to play the media from my desktop pcs hdd on my Note? Any help is appreciated

So I play video games on the computer, and will soon be getting an MSI GTX 660 Twin Frozr III. But I also wish to game on my TV(like for showing people things). Is there any way to stream my screen live to my TV (smart TV)? I can play videos wirelessly but not display the screen.
