Just a quick hopefully simple question, but do you think System Agent Voltage will help much when overclocking CPU Cache? Or is it better just to be left at auto unless unless overclocking RAM (Even then though, there is a separate System Agent Voltage for RAM overclocking) CPU: 11900K Mobo: Asus Maximus Hero XIII Before I was using VID Offset, but right now I'm going with just manual vcore. I'm still testing, but as of right now, this is what I've got. LLC6 vcore 1.49 XMP1 52 all core (Including AVX2/AVX512) 46 Uncore The voltage I used prior to this test was 1.48, and a bit more than 9 hours in running blender bmw it crashed. I'm assuming there was a BSOD. (Not 100% because I was at work) I'm worried that raising vcore wont' really do anything, and I should be raising something else (System Agent Voltage). Should just leaving it on auto be fine? Or should I really raise it, check for stability then try lower vcore?

CPU: 11900K MOBO: Asus Maximus HERO XIII Vcore mode: adaptive with +0.001 offset XMP 1 5.2Ghz all Core AVX2 and AVX512 Offset: 0 AC/DC: 0.001 (Or 0.1 or whatever the lowest) LLC: 8 VID for 5.1: -0.15 (Only to allow VID for 5.2 to be set) VID for 5.2: -0.22 Average vcore under load: ~1.394 Average vcore idle: ~1.403 Max vcore: 1.421 Max CPU package power: 413 Average: 374 Before I enabled AVX, uncore was 4.3 After enabling it was 4.0 Tests I ran: Without AVX: Blender BMW for 20 hours (That was however with LLC4 and VID for 5.2 -0.04. Only difference for vcore is that idle was 1.51 and instant 413W within less than 1 min full load. Whereas with settings above, I only saw 413 with AVX both enabled) Last night I ran ffmpeg encoding a 4K movie using libx265 at preset slow. 8 hours with settings above and no issues. Now onto uncore.. There is this setting I needed to disable in bios to actually be able to get anything higher than 4.0. When doing so an setting uncore to 4.3, obviously vcore goes up. This case it went to ~1.43. Didn't test for long. There are these other voltages in bios such as System Agent, CPU VCCIO, Mem VCCIO etc. (There was also one that had the option of using adaptive) I know most of them are for RAM, (Atleast that is what I am reading, but I am reading that some of that has changed) What I'm most curious about is, is there a voltage that I can change that will "Only" (I and I use "Only" very loosly) that will help cpu cache and not raise the vcore? Or no matter what I change, vcore will be affected? Now I know there isn't much benefit at all for higher CPU cache for most situations, but I still want to OC it. Any help is much appreciated. hi all, iam currently cracking my brain to know which i7 is better and to make it even worse i ordered i7 2760qm because i found it first on ebay but after i received it i found out that there is the i7 2860qm on Aliexpress for 5$ more. now iam regretting that i didn't search more before buying the 2760qm from ebay. is it worth it returning the cpu i bought from ebay so i buy the 2860qm from aliexpress? my setup is : MSI ge620dx ram : 16gb 1333MHZ 1tb sshd 1tb hdd custom made copper heatsink for high heat dissipation any opinions will be more than appreciated. thank you all

I was looking to buy an i5 3690 froom someone but they said "Just from being old, the cpu cache is filled so it needs to be cleared to get the normal clock time on it. It takes like 5 minutes I just never got around to it" I have never heard of that ever being an issue with a cpu and am wondering if it seems reasonable and if so, how do "I clear the cache"?

hi all ! i have an option to buy an i7 with either 6MB cache or 8MB cache. now the 8MB one is a bit hard to get. i will be doing series developing and autocad 3D design basically for productivity. is the 6MB powerful enough for heavy development and productivity ? any opinions are more than appreciated. thanks.

I recently found this video and I actually found the video quite interesting. If you don't know what CPU cache is it's basically sort of like memory but on a CPU. It also does seem to matter a bit, or at least it did with older CPUs. I am curious to know what your thoughts about CPU cache are though. I barely ever see anyone really talking about it. Gaming performance hasn't seemed to be game changing with better CPU cache on a CPU either. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/athlon-l3-cache,2416-6.html Tom's Hardware has done some testing with CPUs that had no L3 cache and a CPU that had L3 cache. It seems like it can make a decent difference in some games. And just like the video showed, that difference sometimes can be noticeable. Anyways what are your thoughts on CPU cache? Do you think it matters that much? Does it surprise you an quad core CPU like the 6600k for example has less L3 cache than a FX-8300 for example even though the 8300 has 2 megabytes more of L3 cache and is slower if not barely faster than the 6600k in most applications? Also what do you think about buying cache packages or whatever you want to call them I guess and possibly installing them into a motherboard for better performance depending on what you're doing? I found this a bit interesting as well.

Dear LTT forum, This is my first post on the forum. I've lurked until now, and I'm looking for some experienced input on my i5-6600K overclock. **Specs** CPU: i5-6600K Cooler: Corsair H80i GT (120mm) Mobo: ASUS Z170-A RAM: 2x4GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 3000MHz C15 GPU: EVGA GTX 980 Ti SC PSU: EVGA 750B2 **Preface** I've overclockered a small bit before. Previously, I've only messed with multiplier OC'ing on an i5-2500K. Nothing too advanced, or over anyone's head. After the release of the Skylake CPUs, and hearing how much of a champ they OC like, I decided to upgrade my four year old platform. Out of the box, the 6600K was running at 4.4GHz at stock voltage. That's pretty darn impressive for a 3.5GHz i5 if you ask me. Naturally, as any other human, I decided to push the limits. 4.6GHz at stock voltage stressed fine, using both ASUS RealBench for 8 hours, and AIDA64; temps under 80°C. **The Dilemma** I had to start upping the Voltage as I approached 4.7GHz. This seemed like the point of discomfort for my 6600K, as simply raising the Multiplier in the BIOS did not get me any results. This is when I decided to read more into OC'ing, and found out that lowering the Multiplier while upping the BCLK created more stable conditions. It's worth mentioning that I'm not too sure what a good Multi:BCLK ratio would be for my chip. I finally got 4.7GHz to boot at a raised manual voltage of 1.42V, while the Multiplier was set to 35 and the BCLK was set to 135. Passed both stress tests fine, and temps under 80°C. In order to even boot at 4.8GHz, I had to go into the BIOS and raise the FCLK from default of 800MHz to 1GHz. Since I haven't done much manual overclocking before, is anyone able to explain what the FCLK is, and what raising it effects? I have discovered that the option for Load Line Calibration can also effect stability of an OC in positive ways, primarily to counteract what's referred to as "Vdroop". Is it suggested to raise the LLC level to gain more stability? 6600K running on 4.8GHz is interesting; AIDA64 tests stressing the CPU, FPU (also one more object I'm not too informed about), and RAM will run stable for hours without a crash or a Vdroop. It gets confusing when I use AIDA64 to also test CPU Cache; which results in a "Hardware Error" after no more of a minute of testing. This happens whether I test only CPU Cache, or test it along with the other, (working), tests. I have attempted to raise the VCore all the way up to the Intel specified degradation point of 1.52V, with no change. Is this because my CPU Cache is too high/low? If so, how should I go about adjusting it? **TL;DR** i5-6600K stable at 4.7GHz, 1.42V. AIDA64 returns Hardware Error while stressing CPU Cache @ 4.8GHz, any voltage up to 1.52V. Tips? I realize I just took a really huge info-dump on my first post, but I figured too much information is better than too little.

People while i was watching LinusTechTip I've heard of CPU cache, but what is that precisely. Can someone give me a good basic explanation and why it is so little aaand last what L1, L2 ect.. ?
